I agree the most underrated talent of the century. Incredibly gifted and has never won a grammy or an award in England or USA..shameful. The girls nowadays couldn't even hold a candle to her.

My wife and I were just married (and poor) standing in front of the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver in 1977looking at the lineup . Our wedding song two months previous was Love And Affection. We loved Joan! A stranger offered us two tickets to the show as he had just broken up with his lady and he liked the look of us. We sat front and centre and fell more deeply in love with you Miss Armatrading! We saw you every time you visited Van and pray to be with you again one day.

Sounds as fresh as it did when it was recorded 40-some years ago.

The things I love about this are the powerful, apparently heartfelt idea, and the way it's put together: slightly staccato, and broken lines. It's sound as if she's just coming out with it for the first time. Almost conversational.

I just thought of this song out of the blue. I heard it once when I was a little kid, and that was a long time ago. The fact that 40 years later I still remember it, just from one line...... that’s something.

I bought Joan's Greatest Hits cd about 25 years ago - Recently been on Armatrading kick - She's fantastic!

I don't know if it's just me but while watching JAs face during this performance it looks like as the song goes on she slowly realises that this is actually a good song. Correction: a great song.

Took a date to see Joan in `76. Joan and the band were excellent.(Richie Hayward-Little Feat on drums) After the show I asked my date "So what did you think of that?...it was ok I guess", she said. :(

Love how this holds so many poignant memories for everyone. I was a child when this appearead, I so wanted a dog. My dad managed to get one for us, my Mum didn't like dogs. I loved him.He was better than even I imagined. He died of poison exacty a year to the day we got him,in front of me,was horrific.This song reminds me of the year I had him. Bitterwseet and so beautiful. Such a happy yera. My kids know all about him, they have allseen thepics of him. He's still my dog x x
