Joan Armatrading - I Really Must Be Going Lyrics
Told me that you loved me
You've been looking for me all your life
Told you I was married
You said 'baby, it don't seem right'
I can't wait to kiss you on the mouth
I can't contain this yearning
And I can't seem to put the fire out
I went up to your apartment
Only to be polite
It's late, I started leaving
But you got in the way so nice
One touch from your fingers and I'm burning
I can't contain this yearning
And I can't seem to put the fire out
The look in your eyes I'm learning
Would melt a tyrant's heart
But I really must be going
And I'll see you later sweetheart
The phone rang in the morning
Day had just begun
I heard your soft voice crying
Told me you were wrong
In time I'd learn to love you
And you had time to spare
And you called again tomorrow
And the next day
The midday flight was on time
No time to hesitate
I changed and unchanged my mind
But this one had to stay
I knew that if we started
I'd be lost and so would you
Though we both regret our parting
We are bound to see it through
I still see your face before me
And smell the scent you wore
And hear your soft voice crying
One touch from your fingers and I'm burning
I can't wait to kiss you on the mouth
I can't contain this yearning
And I can't seem to put the fire out

Nice meeting you in the hague joan. This is my favourite song.
A wonderful song from a wonderful Lady. Love it sooooo much. @ Jenni Nicar ; The guitar player is Rick Hirsch. He´s a former member of the southern rock band "Wet Willie" from Mobile/Alabama.They had a big hit with "Keep on smiling",the titletrack of their third Album from 1974.
who's the guitar player? He's great
It seems to be a tragic situation. In spite of that it is a fascinating song.

Hörde låten i början av 80-talet. Den har sedan dess funnits med i gnolandet. Nu... fortfarande får jag "ståpäls". Great!
Im on a Joan Armitrading Roll such geat memories x
One of the most excellent and consistently superb singer-songwriters and performers I have ever seen. The woman is a marvel. Her material is of a quality most songwriters dream of achieving and Joan.....well, she's in a class of her own. I don't know any artist who sings, plays and writes the way she does. This track is masterful, dramatic and she sings it with so much sincerity. A shame young girls don't try to emulate this woman. She would be someone to try and follow. A real jewel.
Mmmmm Vat A Vooooman!
Well spoken, circleoffice, this is absolutely stunning.
One of her best song. From a very nice EP.
