JJ Heller - Small Lyrics

Cardboard cutouts on the floor
People wish that you were more like what they wanted you to be
Eventually they won't have much of you at all in their theology
The walls are closing in on you
You cannot be contained at all

I don't want to make you small
I don't want to fit you in my pocket
A cross around my throat
You are brighter than the sun
You're closer than the tiny thoughts I have of you
But I could never fathom you at all

Broken moldings all around
Broken people hit the ground
When they discover that you're not here for our benefit
You love in spite of us
You use the least of us to prove the strong aren't really strong at all

I first heard this song in 2007 from my older friends phone and has been on my mind since that day, I decided to check it out today 💜💜

This is the one song I can remember from memory. I've been humming it for years, without knowing what it was. When I heard it again, it was just a wave of feels. The last time I listened to it I lived across the country, and so much has changed since then, except for god. He's always been there for me.

It makes me sad, but happy at the same time whenever I listen to it. It taps back into the nostalgic memories.

    Thank you.

One of those few songs this days that actually get you think about what we are really here for. Gives us just enough peace to rethink our life and the best part about more than just ourselves.

  9. d.... ....

It's wonderful to have such a beautiful, original, theologically correct song.
I feel more calm, less aggressive as a person when I listen. And it's always a good reminder.

That *is* true. Partly because of my age, I have found myself in that position once or twice.

The truth and the balance of God's agape love may be difficult to explain to anyone (although especially the inexperienced), but it does help to remember the life of a Christian as an ongoing process and a half relationship with God where you are, in the most practical sense, a team.

So God is with you to achieve the end goal of sanctification, but doing so with patience, mercy, encouragement, and stability because that is perfect love.
