Jimmy Cliff - Johnny Too Bad Lyrics
Walking down the road
With your pistol in your waist
Johnny you're too bad
Walking down the road
Johnny you're too bad
You're just robbing and you're stabbing and you're looting and you're shooting
Now you're too bad
You're just robbing and you're stabbing and you're looting and you're shooting
Now you're too bad
One of these days
When you hear a voice say come
Where you gonna run to
One of these days
When you hear a voice say come
Where you gonna run to
You're gonna run to the rock for rescue
There will be no rock
You're gonna run to the rock for rescue
There will be no rock
Walking down the road
With a pistol in your waist
Johnny, you're too bad
Walking down the road
With a ratchet in your waist
Johnny you're too bad
You're just robbing and you're stabbing and you're looting and you're shooting
Now you're too bad
You're just robbing and you're stabbing and you're looting and you're shooting
Now you're too bad
One of these days
When you hear a voice say come
Where you gonna run to
One of these days
When you hear a voice say come
Where you gonna run to
You're gonna run to the rock for rescue
There will be no rock
You're gonna run to the rock for rescue
There will be no rock
You're gonna run to the rock for rescue
There will be no rock

Wait. No. I want a Marvel movie with a reggae soundtrack. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Aaaawhooooo!!!!
The line is "with a PISTOL (not a knife) in your waste..."
Sorry, "Waist" not "Waste."
I know this for many years and is the first i know the singers....The Slickers
'You gonna run to the rock for rescue - there will be no rock'.
Good advice.
Does anyone else remember The Hooters playing this at the clubs early 80,s???
imo one of the greatest songs of all time
Officially the best reggae song ever
One of the greatest reggae tracks ever made!
find this tune very sad and wistful! An unusual feel for a reggae tune. Obsessed
Does any body else has the feeling that Devendra Benhart got inspired to make the song "Fool" because of this tune ?
Punky Rude Boy Party
Thank you
I love reggae it makes me feel alive.
👍👍👍
I remember the first time I saw this film at my college in Michigan, around 1980, my first thought was - what language is that? Couldn't understand a word.
This shit really happened. Thank, christ.
But before you get a gun... Get a broom and come sweep out d shop. 🤣😂🤣
😂😭😂
Who’s a badman who can draw?
Great song.
Johnny too bad is not original to Ub40 nor sublime original artist are jamaicans the slickers not even sublime know the history of ska reggae dancehall or rub a dub music so I am glad that some people did their research if they love love our music they need to go and create and add something instead of just been pirates and don't give credit to the original artist and
It is possible that a small country like jamaica has invented and created ska and reggae as they would say in jamaica we little but we talawa
Even this original sublime take it and destroy it and behave as if it's there original music big up to original ska and reggae music white boys like sublime need to create their own music and stop pirate our music
One thing me want to tell you about why such a small country Jamaica can put out so much music good music is bcas when the slave masters was dropping of our people at the different Caribbean islands, they dropped off the best singers the best runners...... Ect. Love and peace to my beautiful island Jamaica.

The skin heads made it big in uk
Whip to this in the summer smoking a cigar is the move
Movie was so dope
Classic song.
Tekashi 69 and others like him should listen to this message. It talks about a "rudeboy" or just a wannabe 'gangsta' from the shanty towns that lives a life of crime and taking what he wants, when he wants. He carries a pistol or a ratchet in his waist pocket, and thinks he's a tough guy and a legend but in reality people just feel sorry for him.
The song says that eventually karma will catch up with him, and he'll run for rescue, but it won't be there.
what is the meaning of ''Rock''?
They like throwing stones when fighting in jamaica ; one day he won't have a weapon to defend himself
Wah wah whaiiiiii!
Yer gunna run to the rock for rescue and they’ll be no rock.
This is me!
hMM, IT'S A BIT MORE, YOU KNOW KIND AND CONCERNING, HMM, SO, jESUS cHRIST LIKE, WHAT YOU SAY,..?

This is only my second time hearing the original version of this track. The first time was at a Starbucks many years back. I grew up listening to UB40's cover version

when I first heard this song, in the mid-'70s, I kind of fixated on the line "walking down the road / with the ratchet in your waist...."
it took a couple of months, but I taught myself how to use a ratchet with a long socket attached as a weapon, like a small tonfa. They are really fierce, but this song was only only time, before or since, that I have heard of them being carried that way. Johnny you're too bad, indeed.
Ratchet refers to a pistal not a wrench dumbass
97 people have a taste for good music in their feet
Got mojo ?
you gone run to a rock for rescue but there will be no rock...
I remember listening to the soundtrack "The Harder They Come" while on vacation in BC around 1975 I think. It was like a breath of fresh air that blew across the North American music scene. Have always really liked this song especially.
