Jimmy Cliff - House Of Exile Lyrics
There's a day of feasting and a day of famine
Day of sadness and a day of joy
You could see in the day of feasting
Life isn't just a little play-like toy.
Cos you always thought you were well protected
Now you feel like a fish out of water
So now you're wondering what's the matter.
Oh remember you said it wouldn't happen to you
Now you're thinking how to start a new
A drowning man will catch at a straw
You were warned but you wouldn't take heed.
Everything in creation must obey a law.
You were so puffed up in your pomps and pride
You're exposed you got none to hide
Yes, you used to look down on the folks beside you
Never they think you would have come down too
Remember they said you got to reap what you sow
Simple truth everybody know
Oh what are you on a house of exile
Watching you now on your own last mile
Yes, what are you on a house of exile
Watching you now on your own last mile
[Music interlude]
Oh what are you on a house of exile
Watching you now on your own last mile
O OH what are you on a house of exile
Watching you now on your own last mile
Everything in creation must obey a law.
Its true in words as it is in deed

Reminds me of my late brother ( Habofanwe Borena Ba mokotedi, Jerry) R.I.P
I dedicate this song to the corrupt ruling class of my beloved country of Kenya. Keep raping poor helpless Kenya, but remember one day karma will catch up with you.

Beautiful, dear Cliff-ness of the Jimmy kind ... just beautiful !!! And from here, ye prompteth us to goeth unto Lucky Dube's "HOUSE OF EXILE". One good turn deserveth another !!!
Dear publisher 'Hajayayo' ... thou obviously knoweth what thou art doing !!!
it reminds me of my big family back then in Soweto 1007 a Naledi
That's my best music when I was in my secondary school
Words are not enough to explain how great this song mean to my soul
You are best of ALL
This song makes me think of Robert Mugabe in exile in his blue roof mansion
Jimmy Cliff, you are simply the best of them all.
All-time best....
One of the finest social commentators in the world, Jimmy Cliff has never won the acclaim he deserves. House of Exile, Synthetic World, Many Rivers Cross- name it- each song comments on the human condition. His lyrics are powerful commentary and his voice is golden! No poetry beats these powerful songs, but the award went to Bob Dylan!
aououuuuhhhhh...
One of my all time favorites. This man is truly a legend!
Living legend ❤️💛💚

HUMAN BEINGS! UNITE.
If I recall this song was due to a beef between him and Byron lee..
i wish the musicians of today learn from super Legends like JIMMY CLIFF how they can make positive contributions to our declining world. A beautiful piece. First heard as a boy in 1974 as came to get greater meaning decades later.
Just a pure delight!

I knew Jimmy before I met Bob Marley. Both are great men. In my college days of the 70s, Jimmy was THE MAN.

Probably Cliff's most famous Lp by the mid 70s& where I came from. This song was rumored to be a vilification of ousted American President Richard Nixon after the Watergate Scandal. NOTE!!!

This song house of exile reminds me of those old good days, for sure old is gold.
A word about pit money linked Oregon houses. Demolish and leave vacant too long. Don't build a shed because the pit can't anchor to it and pig jews will find another house to enslave. Keep it residential/conventional, with some form occupancy (so-called 'non-Jew" Christians, ok if pit toured & no pig). "Empty Purse" would be the operational code and leaving the Oregon Crypto-Jew moniests with a trillion dollar hole in the ground is the objective.
1974/75 eu tinha 18 anos
when music was the soul's food
Old time music. Really nice.
This song takes me back in the 70s when I was a small boy; walking my way to see my aunt in section 8 Roan Township Luanshya. I am passing by a house of unmarried man enjoying the music, busy preparing his prime stove readiness for his cooking; this song is playing and he is shaking his head showing he was deeply in it. Those were days!
Used to be my baby son's favourite song in 1978.he's now a man of 43.oh,time does fly!
Yah man
✌✌✌👈
Boa de mais
2018, one of the great ones. Africa
U.S. County mental health workers (pit racketeers w/ synthetic telepathic neuro-impulse weaons) might find exile in Montana...if they can dogde the gallows. And who supplies them with the tech and weaponry? Israel, of course.
90704 no longer a secret house of exile.
Wow!...those where days when true musicians unseat crooked government just with their lyrics!...they were the true opposition & voice of the people!
Ein fantastisches zeitloses Musikwerk... Danke Peter tosh... RIP
Jimmy cliff, simply put a Star
