Jimmy Buffett - Treat Her Like A Lady Lyrics
Some of us sailors call her home
She's big and she's strong and she's mighty
Some of us sailors call her our own
Guess that's the reason why I treat her like a lady
Treat her like a lady, just treat her like a lady
Now I don't like the sound of the ground movin' round
Or winds spinnin' out of control
California earthquakes only seem make me
shake, rattle and roll
I been too long on the mainland
Hotels, rental cars and phones
Time to cast them aside, catch the very next tide
And go back where belong
She's big and she's strong and she's mighty
Some of us sailors call her our own
Guess that's the reason why I treat her like a lady
Treat her like a lady
Great whales travel the rhomb lines
Dodging those deadly harpoons
Spawning their young as their ancestors done
In the depths of her hidden lagoons
There are times I find myself with them
And times I feel as they do
We're on a similar course it's just a different source
But I'm in danger of extinction too
Some of us sailors call her home
She big and she's strong and she's mighty
Some of us sailors call her our own
Guess that's the reason why I treat her like a lady
Treat her like a lady
Treat her like a lady
Treat her like a lady
And miss her when I'm gone

42 sea ray mid 90s miss those days!
I HAD A CASE OF THE MONDAYS
I haven’t heard this song in awhile
I fell in love with the ocean when I served in the USN, 1971-75, crossing the Atlantic Ocean, from Key West to Sardinia Italy... Mid-Atlantic, watching the sunrise.. enough to make you cry, the beauty...
Did you see the "Green Flash"?
Thank you for your service! God Bless you and your family! Damn ,can't get enough of Jimmy! Been in love since my first look!1885! My dream ,to live on a boathouse, in the keys!
Funny. While you were sailing exotic ports my father was losing his innocence in I corp. Tell us again about life.
Jimmy Buffett made the endless days of steaming on Gonzo Station tolerable. Indian Ocean '79-'83, CGN-35.
Saw a vid in Florida where Buffett is trying to record Cheeseburger. He having trouble getting the hand claps right, funny as shit. He's really drunk and keeps saying, "Can't we do the hand claps later?" It's the one where they drive from Largo to Key West stopping at every bar for a drink. Can't find it anywhere on the web. Anyone know the name of this vid?
J Holstr: We may have been in Mayport at the same time. I served on your sister ship, USS Forestall. Separated in 75 ended up living in the Keys for the next 17 years. I ran into Buffett at Alabama Jacks once. He wasn't performing, just fishing, and a tad drunk. Then again, so was I
God's own drunk & a fearless man. I was mighty fearless back in the day. These days I just drink Dr. Pepper. Don't judge me, it is what it is. lol!!!
The forrest fire, I almost got stationed on her, when I wanted to terminate shore duty....LOL
I need to go on a cruise so bad but so broke
You may try putting on a plastic pig nose and dancing in the street for the coins that people will throw at the sewer and watch you try to catch them while they laugh at you. Stay gold, Pony
I showed my wife who couldn't fix the VCR... me
Great job on this video! I have always loved this song.
Excellent video for this song. Keep it up.
Dad This one s for you Sail On Sailor!

I remember buying a Jimmy Buffett "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes" cassette when I was stationed in Mayport Florida on USS Saratoga,, back when you could drive on the beach, I had a 67 Econoline Van, I was livin the beach bum life, thanks Jimmy :)
+J Holtsr Hey brother...I was Stationed there and lived on the "Sara" for 2 years V-1 division..nite time flight ops. 1984 to 86. they took our old girl to Texas and scrapped her 2 years ago.Melted down. Peace be with you fellow Sara sailor
I love the ocean and I am going to see the ocean in two weeks I could cry I'm happy I'm excited
i have a lot of photos of the Sara along the way from RI to TX, the pilot of the tug was communicating to the Sara FB page,, even had a drone do a take off and landing from the flight deck,, miss that old boat
Did a couple of Med cruises between 72 and 75. Sara always relieved us in the Straits of G. Once we were in dry dock next to the Sara in Portsmouth. I came back from liberty really drunk and went onboard the Sara by mistake. Didn't realize I was on the wrong boat until I got to my rack, forward on the 02 level.
god i miss the ocean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So do I... I went in 2014 to Pensocola Florida
I never thought I would, but I do. It goes back to remembering the good and forgetting the bad. Human fucking nature.
Yes I will be sailing on her very soon Aruba here I come
USS Suribachi AE21
1959-1963
A great ship, agreat "Lady"
My husband was underwater on the SSBN John Adams.
That ship sounds familiar..if you where here in SD in the 90' i probably saw the ship moored at 32nd st..I was stationed on the USS Cowpens CG 63 the "mighty moo" as they call it that's the ship i retired from.
Best wishes shipmate
USS Chandler DDG 996, a great little modified spru-can. (Kidd class) Spent a few years in San Diego and then shifted home ports up to Everett, Wa where we decommissioned her in 1999. Great boat with a great crew. Thanks for the view and comments shipmate!
What ship where you on? are you a east coast sailor or west coast.
best wishes
This brings memories from my time in the U.S. NAVY..great times..
specially of Austraila and her women.
Loved it!
The pic of the carrier-battleship group is of CV-61 Ranger and BB-63 Missouri was taken in the Indian Ocean late 1987.
When the pic was taken I was 2 decks below the flight deck of Ranger, immediately aft of the island! VMA(AW)-121 Green Knights OORAH!
AMEN bro!:)
the ocean calls...
i wish i could answer her...
@wildebeest3 I was lucky enough to have a captain that was a parrothead and would play Jimmy over the 1MC while pulling into port and Cheeseburger In Paradise for the chow whistle every slider Friday. Great Times! Thanks for the comment and sail on sailor!
I used to listen to JB while a Sailor serving on the Deyo and Elrod, it used to drive the others nuts! It did inspire me go out and sail on my own boats and cross oceans on my own. Listening to the same ol' music, too.
i love this, wonderful editing job :) and Happy New Year
Always been one of my favorites too, Cap'n. In my mind I can still see the evening view from the bridge, watching the last limb of the sun disappear beyond the Caribbean horizon, and feeling her pure peace. Thanks for sharing.
A little-known Jimmy Buffett song and a beautiful tribute to the mighty ocean...One of my favorites!
great job with a great song
