Jimmy Buffett - One Particular Harbour Lyrics
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Have pity for the Earth
(Love the Earth)
I know I don't get there often enough
But God knows I surely try
It's a magic kind of medicine
That no doctor could prescribe
I used to rule my world from a pay phone
And ships out on the sea
And I got too much stuff
Can't explain the likes of me
But there's this one particular harbour
So far but yet so near
Where I see the days as they fade away
And finally disappear
But now I think about the good times
Down in the Caribbean sunshine
In my younger days I was so bad
Laughin' about all the fun we had
I've seen enough to feel the world spin
Mixin' different oceans meetin' cousins
Listen to the drummers and the night sounds
Listen to the singers make the world go 'round
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Lakes below the mountains
Flow into the sea
Like oils applied to canvas
They permeate through me
And there's that one particular harbour
Sheltered from the wind
Where the children play on the shore each day
And all are safe within
Most mysterious calling harbour
So far but yet so near
I can see the day when my hair's full gray
And I finally disappear
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Ia Ora Te Natura
E Mea Arofa Teie Ao Nei
Ua Pau Te Maitai No Te Fenua
Re Zai Noa Ra Te Ora O Te Mitie
Bounty of the land is exhausted
But there's still abundance on the sea

Jimmy Buffett One Particular Harbour Comments
I use to play bass and back-up vocals for our front man Pat Ryan. Drummer Mike Short, Piano player Eric Larson, Lead guitar Bill Moser. Did lots of JB. Those were the days! Remembering Crosscut Band.
This is my favorite Buffett song.
This is one of the only Jimmy Buffett songs where I prefer the studio version to the live version. Not that this version is bad (in fact, it's excellent in its own right) but the background singers can't top the Tahitian choir in the original.
I know he did an actual video for this song but I don't see it here.
Good song ey
Boaters are everywhere; listening from the swim platform on Brantly Lake, New Mexico.
Great music. Love the ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Offshore is awesome.
Cooks Bay - Moorea!
And, I thot James n WILLIAM where friends?? Alan Jackson??
That harbor must be you Poderosa.
Since 1972...been sailing to Jimmy's music and now at 66 years young, it's still my "go to" music!
So awesome!
Love this; and I am a little late to the game on this one
Where is lady Ashanti?!!!
As he sings in this song about that particular harbor on the island of Moorea...I yearn to be back in Tahiti
What language is that chorus in??
Puts me on Island time!
I ready to find that "one particular harbor" because there's "something about a boat" that means I haven't yet turned completely into one of "the people our parents warned us about." If you really want to find me, I'll be in "margaritaville searching for my long lost shaker of salt."
Ahh. I needed that. It's impossible to be in a bad mood with this song. Must be the steel drums.
JB got me out of Michigan with Margaritaville, 1977
It sounds like he is saying my name
Let us all be friends and be good to each other. I believe this!
This song makes me smile.
Hermosa to Redondo makes me smile as much.
Bob Risse this song is my childhood
-- but not yet!
Frank Bama at his best ~
Wow! A katt from the Redneck Riviera could compose such deep shit! Wild Eyed Southern Boy Brilliance!
Saw Jimmy Buffett 2x back in the 80s. Saw him in 84 at the Syria Mosque [torn down cpl yrs later] in Pittsburgh and at the half Civic Arena [also gone] in Pittsburgh in 86. They opened the roof at the civic arena for Rag top day. Both concerts were well before his popularity took off. He was excellent then. Still excellent today !!! Timothy B Schmitt [ Eagles fame] was his bass player in 86. He coined the term "Parrothead" he also sang "I can't tell you why" actually sounded like the Eagles.
Jimmy, is responsible for at least half the trouble I’ve gotten into during my life. The other half I manage myself. Thank you Jimmy, Captainshit
Coming from Johnny Reb, of Mississippi, speaking of Charlotte Harbor, Florida. In all its complexities.
Lindo vídeo da natureza adorei parabéns!
This reminds so much of my time in Key West..
Any Parrot Heads here ... I have a Buffet story ... I'm an 'ole gal' ... If you see Jimmy ... ask him about Jimmy from Little Harbour ... ... yea .. one particular harbour ... ...
Minus 4 today...two years from going to my one particular harbor...Permanently..
Turn it around Jimmy Buffett
I'm headed back down to Tahiti - Moorea - and Cooks Bay, where this song talks about - French Polynesia, the real paradise on earth.
Memories
Special harbor / bay on the island of Moorea - Cooks Bay with the mountain and the hole in its top!
God's Own singer. Love that harbor
4:04 - “I’ve never seen so many electric jellyfish in all my life!”
Kind of brings life into Focus there's much more to it than the rat race !!... Dreaming of that heavenly get away... Can't wait!
Key west Bight Is my One particular harbour
Ditto 🌺🌺🕊🐚🏖⛱⛵🌊🌈🌞
Ultimate bucket list song. If I knew I were about to kick the bucket, I'd want to be singing this song.
Jimmy is the benevolent monarch of Margaritaville!
Always a part of my life. I finally moved to Florida 3 years ago. Paradise.
whoever edited this should be promoted
Theeeeee best version, off of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
i love your name!
I knew Jimmy when he was a man not a brand.
Going to Key West... playing this song non-stop
it's the journey not the destination
I feel the sea calling me back to her salty womb. Mother ocean
Me too. . . felt it strong!
The distribution of chemicals in the makeup of humans and all living creatures is the exact combination as sea water. Mother Ocean is really the mother of all life on earth. We have not respected and cherished her enough. We have abused and polluted her and we and our progeny will suffer for it..
Hmmm, where's Jimmy? (*cries*)
Well. . . he is quite the entrepreneur . Just teamed up with a developer and built "Margaritaville" in Daytona. It is AWESOME!
There is no refuge to sail to any longer. I did it. The Carib' is fucked. Tourists, robbers and thieves. I know. The 70's were great. Blue water, big ocean rollers, the morning sunrise with the pink, lavender and grey cumulus. It was wonderful!
YES. . .glad I was there back then as well!
THERE MUST BE SOMEWHERE COOL THERE STILL!!!
Is it to late to pack up all my shit and start a new career in the islands
Never too late, you may think so, but after about 3 months, you'll be wondering why it took you so long. Lots of people down there that were once asking themselves the same question. I'm on my way back.

Livin life now as if there is no tomorrow and it's five o'clock somewhere. Broke, work alittle here, alittle there. Takin care of the rescue dogs. Caring for the horses. Stuck on Jimmy and Alan. Someone slap me.
Saving rescue dogs, you nee a THANK YOU, not a slap!
Reminds me of when I went to margaritaville last summer! It was an awesome trip. This song was played and I loved it!

This song was the only one that my husband could walk my son around singing to him that would calm him to sleep. He is now 26 and, of course, loves this song in particular (pun intended).
Wanda Pass Love it!
I'm 26 these days and grew up upon this
Nothing will be greater than the day my dad gave me his old jimmy vinyl
Wanda Pass Wait, I may be your son!
@Ed Jones No, I am wanda's son, NOT you!!!!
Jimmy!!! Than X!!! for singing me home in my FL retirement. I made it to my 'Particular Harbour.'
Indeed. I have preaching on my left and Jimmy on my rights! ParrotHead for Life! This music soothed my battered soul and spirit. The Time Is Always Now to Sail to A particular Harbour , Ive gone Incognito Cause Nobody Speaks To The Captain No More anyways. Nobody misses me and I'm finally at Peace with my Blessed Life!!!
Sounds like your in a good place...If you ever need a first mate let me know!
Saw JImmy in concert back in the day. Eagles had top billing, Jackson Brown cancelled at the last minute and this new guy filled in. The first show in Sacramento they made us drink our beverages before going into the arena. I still say the "mosh pit" was invented that day! Thank you Mr. Buffett!
Gary Goodbird
Met drunk in gulf shores,Alabama.
Buffet had a broken leg...lol
What an inspiration for me going all around the world and just always dreamed of getting back to my home on the warm beach in southern Florida! God bless!

Jo Ollivier WoW the first 'disparaging' comment in ParrotHead land. Artists RESPECT each other. We don't compare our work to other artists. Everybody tells their story and we ALL benefit.WE ALL WIN!!!

My dad and your dad most have been brothers
Same here! Driving to/from our boat in Baltimore, I grew up on Jimmy since I was little. Parrothead for life.
I love Jimmy anyway, but the texture and depth of the Rhythm section, and the female vocalists behind him, make this One Of His Best.
Love his music
+Ellis Horsechief Saw him in concert in KC.....What a blast!!
