Jimmy Barnes - Promise Me You'll Call Lyrics
When you came along you were everything
Nothing else compared to the love you gave
Say it's going to last, say you'll never leave
Now that love's around you are everywhere
Say it's going to last, say you'll never leave If I gave you all that you want
If I gave you all that you need
If I gave you all that you want
Will you promise me, promise me you'll call
Won't you promise me you'll call

Jimmy Barnes Promise Me You'll Call Comments
A song for Mahalia. Awesome.
Big engine room behind barnes here, brilliance of Mal Eastick once again.
Totally agree. I first saw Cold Chisel over here in New Zealand at the Dunedin Town Hall on 24 September 1983 and it went off big time - very impressive. Then at the same venue on 11 July 1986 I saw Jimmy Barnes play as part of his 'Barnestorming Tour and to honest it was easily as equally as good if not better than the '83 gig. Gotta admit you Ockers do rock hard over there...ok ok even though I'm a proud Kiwi, I much preferred your Ozzie rock bands to my Kiwi ones back in the '80s. The Kiwi rock bands from the '80s were 'softer' in that sure while we had 'pub rock' bands their sound was no where near as 'hard-edged' as their Ozzie counterparts. I fell in love with 'Chisel, Icehouse, The Angels, and Hunters & Collectors. The 2 'heavier' sounding bands were 'Chisel and The Angels. Mind you both those acts only come up to the ankles of AC/DC as far as I'm concerned. Acca Dacca is one of the WORLD'S greatest rock bands and anecdotally rank up the top as the world's hardest working rock band. And to me; there is no greater accolade. Best wishes to you john north from Leighton S (New Zealand)
Jimmy Barnes best song IMO. Some of the best lead guitar you will ever hear for an Australian solo artist and up there with Too Much Ain't Enough Love. How this didn't end up on Anthology is beyond me. Don't they spend more time with creating best of albums these days?
He wrote this for his kids :-)
Adam Law for his daughter Mahalia.
Seeing him on September 7th!
Bodyswerve...still Jimmy's best album
When you came along you were everything
Nothing else compared to the love you gave
Say it's going to last, say you'll never leave
Now that love's around you are everywhere
Nothing else I found like the love we shared
Say it's going to last, say you'll never leave
If I gave you all that you want
If I gave you all that you need
If I gave you all that you want
Will you promise me, promise me you'll call
Won't you promise me you'll call
PS - album sleeve has the lyrics...sure the cd has the same.
Thanks for your comments Chris Worrall. You are certainly lucky to have been on that job. I was merely a 14 yr old at the time and still consider this one of my favourite albums.
He lost me with his next efforts but that doesn't diminish what he had going in the period after Cold Chisel and before Working Class man.
My favourite all time Jimmy song. Bodyswerve was raw and had one of the best guitarists in Mal Eastick. This was ever repeated in Jimmy's ensuing career imo, unfortunately.
AWESOME JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oops guitarists
great song , jimmy had some great guitarits " and bands" backing him in those days
i know its a well used cliche but ,the music these days ,,,,,,,,,,,, it just has no soul
Mám rád ten jeho styl hudby a pro něho velmi charakteristický hlas který jse nedá přeslechnout ...........
Very underrated song and film clip.
