Jim Croce - Walkin' Back To Georgia Lyrics

I'm walkin' back to Georgia
And I hope she will take me back
Nothin' in my pockets
And all I own is upon my back

But she's the girl who said she loved me
On that hot dusty Macon road
And if she's still around
I'm gonna settle down
With that hard lovin' Georgia girl

I'm walkin' back to Georgia
She's the only one who knows
How it feels when you lose a dream
And how it feels when you dream alone

Georgia can you hear me callin'
Oh I'll be home in just a while
And if I had to I'd be crawlin'
Just to share another mornin' smile

But you're the girl who said you loved me
On that hot dusty long ago
And if you're still around
I'm gonna settle down
With you my hard lovin' Georgia girl...because

I'm walkin' back to Georgia
And I hope she will take me back
Nothin' in my pockets
And all I own is upon my back

I'm from Kentucky but Georgia is the my second home.

  2. J.... N....

    Mmm, mmm
    Walkin' back to Georgia
And I hope she will take me back.
    Nothin' in my pockets,
And all I own is on my back.
But she's the girl who said she loved me
On that hot dusty Macon road,
And if she's still around, I'm gonna settle down
With that hard lovin' Georgia girl,
    Mmm

    I'm walkin' back to Georgia;
She's the only one who knows
How it feels when you lose a dream
And how it feels when you dream alone.
She's the girl who said she loved me
On that hot dusty Macon road
And if she's still around, I'm gonna settle down
With that hard lovin' Georgia girl.
    Mmm

    Georgia can you hear me callin';
I'll be home in just a while.
And if I had to I'd be crawlin'
Just to share another mornin' smile.
You're the girl who said you loved me
On that hot dusty long ago,
And if you're still around, I'm gonna settle down
With you, my hard lovin' Georgia girl.
    Mmm

Because I'm walkin' back to Georgia,
And I hope she will take me back.
    Nothin' in my pockets
And all I own is on my back.
She's the girl who said she loved me
On that hot, dusty Macon road
And if she's still around, I'm gonna settle down
With that hard lovin' Georgia girl.
    Mmm, mmm

Croce was not a poet! that is for dylan, and the hippie style of songwriting! "Croce" gave it to ya strait! with a no bullshit style,, about good times and many bad times also cool character songs of people he met in life..

  55. R.... D....

I've been playing his music for 40 yrs, and still don't have it all. Noticed he played with finger pics trying to master that now. What a man what a talent. Got misty reading the comments. It;s even hard playing his music. The crowed gets misty too. P.S. I love you Jim Croce.

  56. T.... J....

love him !!! my love i erver love you

  57. T.... A....

Kevin on dads cell, Lightfoot and the rest above are all among the best (except Bieber ) and greatest of poets and songwriters, but none compares with Jim Croce as far as songs about real people they knew, and everyone new a bad bad Leroy Brown, or someone they'd "have to say I love you , in a song" to, he brought back laughter, love, hope , honesty honer and simple living to us at a time when many felt we had not just lost our first war, but all the above as well. His simple lyrics grounded us and made us realize how strong our foundation and support structure, as a country united , were. And at a time when everyone wondered " WHAT NEXT ?"
HE REMINDEF US WHat happens when you take advantage of those weaker, something the younger generation's now have no concept of.

  58. M.... M....

    Música lindaaaaa

  59. M.... S....

the man i have loved since grade school..moved away years ago..he asked me to listen to this song and it has touched my heart so deep..love this song.

  65. D.... H....

My life has been filled with the greatest music of all time. But the thing I have always loved about Jim Croce, is his honesty in lyrics and his amazing voice. His music is timeless and his wonderful music will live forever in my mind and my heart. His songs have brought me joy, and at times has brought me tears. The loss of Jim was a trajedy. and I will be forever singing his songs. In my own honest opinion he was one of the all time greatest singers and song writers of all time. God I love his timeless pieces. Like " Time ina Bottle " a song for every generation. Jim's music is a priceless treasure we can hold onto til death..

I regret I never got to see this amazing singer songwriter perform and I also regret that his life was cut short depriving him of the success and career he would have had.

  71. w.... v....

Esse é da antiga , adoro

  72. S.... H....

He certainly was brilliant, but so many people don't know his music. When I was young I spent DAYS listening to him. His songs seem to always hit home. Although I never turned back on a decision to walk away. But that was long ago ...

  73. R.... S....

This song is just outstanding in every way! The girl it reminds of was probably who I should have spent my life with. Our lives (like a lot of other peoples) changed when I left our small town in Arizona for the service. She tops my list of things regrettably lost to time, and after 40 yrs. I could still grieve if I let myself do so. But that would only harm me and maybe her as well. We will be together after this world is through with us, I hope.

  74. M.... S....

Jim died so young. His genius was growing with each new song. This song is but one of his masterpieces. Thank you, Jim. You are one of the greatest singer/songwriters/performers.

  75. b.... ....

    great song

  76. C.... S....

Eric Schneck, your killing me man  !!! I absolutely love Jim Croce....... hummmm hummmm hummmm

  77. K.... B....

8 track tape player and Croce in '76 ??? It was yesterday folks . Pretty blonde girl stole my heart broke into a thousand pieces ..lol ..seems to be a recurring theme . I sure miss Jim more than those girls .

  79. E.... T....

one of my French friends just introduced me to this, and I'm shocked I'd never heard it before back home.

    Great stuff!

  80. D.... S....

    Genio .. !

  81. A.... M....

You can just listen to his music and feel everything he is singing about. It's so relatable. I truly believe he put his heart and soul into songs such as this. He has been the only thing I've listened to for the past month. I love him. How someone can't love him is beyond me. Such a tragic end. It's heartbreaking 💔💔

    A.... M....

    Great singer.

  82. J.... J....

Jim was and still is one of God's very special gifts to the world!

  83. S.... O....

    Happy birthday Jim

  84. A.... H....

    proud to be from Macon

  85. c.... ....

wow, this guy is really good!

  86. C.... W....

this may upset some people, but this man hands down was the best poet, singer, song writer, of the past century.. dylan doesnt even compare in my opinion..

    C.... W....

Jim is the best of all you've suggested imho. James Taylor, Harry Chapin, etc are all great but Croce was the best songwriter and also had the greatest voice and him and Maury on the guitar, legendary.

    C.... W....

@Stephen Shuford absolutely right about that

    C.... W....

@Stephen Shuford check out the story of Sixto Rodriguez. Amazing

    C.... W....

not a put down to dylan

    C.... W....

I'd say croce's music is just easy listening, Dylan came befor croce and had a much wider impact. It's about having perspective of the actual time it all happened in.

  87. F.... E....

    Que sorte encontrar essa musica!

  88. d.... b....

  91. R.... F....

Almost every single one of his songs could've been a classic. Could've been a Bob Dylan level musical legend.

    R.... F....

Kinda was. Left a great collection thank goodness.

    R.... F....

Jim is a "Bob Dylan" music legend, and more.

    R.... F....

IT IS NOT ALMOST.IT IANT COULD HAVE BEEN. HE IS AT THAT LEVEL, OR PROBABLY JUST BEYOND WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN PLACING AS A MEASSURE OF HIS GREATNESS. UNBELIEVABLE TALENT.

    R.... F....

RJ Foster had his career been longer he would’ve passed Dylan for sure

  92. R.... F....

Almost every single one of his songs could've been a classic. Could've been a Bob Dylan level musical legend.
