Jethro Tull - Singing All Day Lyrics

Singing all day, singing `bout nothing.
Singing all day, singing `bout nothing.
Singing all day, singing `bout nothing,
oo, my, my, my,
oo, my, my, my.

Went down to the station to look for her there,
looked through the crowds for a glimpse of her hair,
nothing to see but the crowds keep a-staring at me,
my, my,
oo, my, my, my.

Down in the street, try'n' to remember,
shuffling my feet outside a menswear,
is that her in the fur coat?
No it's not December yet,
my, my, my,
oo, my, my, my.

Singing all day, singing `bout nothing.

Back to the house, maybe she'll phone me,
singing my song, feeling so lonely.
I'll sing very softly, so if the phone rings
I can hear it, I can hear it.

Singing all day, singing `bout nothing.
Singing all day, singing `bout nothing.
Singing all day, singing `bout nothing,
oo, my, my, my,
oo, my, my, my.

It’s funny when you listen to music from the past, how many of the greats were actually progressive jazz.

The album "Living In The Past" was released in June of 1972(uk) and the album "Benefit" came out in 1970. So this is the original version of "Singing All Day". Living In The Past was a compilation album with songs from various sources (ie: EP's, singles, live concerts, Lp's). I know this because I have the UK version of Living In The Past that was given to me as a Christmas present in 1972. Just the same, a great song. Thanks for the post.

"Singing All Day", if I remember right, was recorded in September 1969, probably the same sessions that brought us "Sweet Dream". "Sweet Dream" (also found on Living in the Past) did get released shortly after it was recorded, as a single (apparently the first release on the green Chrysalis label); however "17" was the B-side instead, although I would have felt "Singing All Day" would have made a great B-side to "Sweet Dream", but I guess "Singing All Day" was rejected. At least the song did first appear on Living in the Past and glad it didn't vanish into oblivion.

    Who would stand him up?

  8. W.... H....

Rare Martin with Wah-wah pedal, he rarely used it and eschewed it later in his career, not wanting to have to bother.
Traditional guitarist without the need for the dashboard of digital histrionics, solid framework and understanding of both music theory and the guitar neck.

Don't forget his solo on "We Used To Know..."

  9. D.... ....

I need a tab for this song, please

  10. A.... L....

and that will be my nothing of it's negative goals to look forward for nothing.

  11. A.... L....

might as well be swinging around all my days, swinging my nothing by jazzing it up this dance all day, but by jazzing it up all day as my nothing for nothing. that's my negative forwarding goals.

  12. D.... L....

magical chemistry ..Glenn Cornick .Ian Anderson Martin and Clive 1970

ahhh bacardi rum , reefer and this song....what a life

  16. T.... ....

I get this stuck in my head at least once a day. It's catchy as hell and the lyrics are so relatably pathetic. Plus it's one of the few Tull songs that could actually be called a "love song".

  17. D.... M....

    perfect tull tune

  18. T.... B....

    My anthem

  19. M.... ....

    I'm singing all day.

  20. M.... ....

    SINGING ALL DAY!!!

  21. S.... A....

This was actually recorded during the "Benefit" album sessions but released as a non-album single.

I feel as though the lyrics to this song define me almost to the letter. Over a year ago I fell hard for this one girl, and, what with me being socially awkward and all, I began to obsess over her rather than talk to her normally (that's a long story...oof). Anyway, during that time, I was literally finding myself looking for her around school and stuff, and I often sing around the school and at home too, considering I'm in the school choir program. But, with this in mind, I like this song.

  23. P.... ....

    Happy birthday, Ian!
