Jethro Tull - Silver River Turning Lyrics
I walked down that boulder road,
Through a child's eye saw places where I used to go.
Where I crawled barefoot with a fishing pole
to the rock that overlooked that steelhead hole
but it's true--silver river turning blue.
It was a small town in a smaller world.
Just a black dot on an old map with its edges curled.
Where they built their industries on the edge of town--
Leaching chemicals from underground
now it's true--that silver river turning blue.
Just got a late reaction. Face reality and stare it down.
Sometimes it's harder hanging on. Much easier to look around.
But I need that job.
Well, this place no city: we're just small players here.
Like a million other heroes drinking poor man's beer.
We know what's right. We're just living it wrong.
But there's no easy answer in the green man's song.
What do you do? When your river's turning Blue.

Jethro Tull Silver River Turning Comments
I live in Bristol, I have seen a news report that the river Frome has mysteriously turned bright blue. On Ian's birthday! Crazy stuff.
For an outtake, this is pretty good, and I don't get the nitpicking about the voice - to this day I. A. is still a charismatic singer in the studio, and he certanly was in this recording.
NuntiusLegis , studio technology can fix Ian's voice thank goodness, so that it sounds good. Microphones on stage can help it to some degree too, though not as much as in the studio. At least this allows Ian to sound good on studio recordings, which is great. It seems a shame that his natural singing voice seem to start declining so early, ie after Under Wraps tour, or thereabouts, when he was only about 38 or so.

After Anderson fired all but Barre and reformed Tull they never had the same chemistry from the classic line up of Barre, Evan, Hammond, and Barlow. Then by the 90s his voice started to go. Watching them in concert now is sad because his voice is totally gone!
Tony Rowan It was a new day yesterday, but its an old day now.
The opening flute could be from the Aqualung album! His voice is already going by this time.
