Jethro Tull - Life Is A Long Song Lyrics
When you're falling awake and you take stock of the new day,
and you hear your voice croak as you choke on what you need to say,
well, don't you fret, don't you fear,
I will give you good cheer.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
If you wait then your plate I will fill.
As the verses unfold and your soul suffers the long day,
and the twelve o'clock gloom spins the room,
you struggle on your way.
Well, don't you sigh, don't you cry,
lick the dust from your eye.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
We will meet in the sweet light of dawn.
As the Baker Street train spills your pain all over your new dress,
and the symphony sounds underground put you under duress,
well don't you squeal as the heel grinds you under the wheel.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
But the tune ends too soon for us all.

Nice. I bet XTC was influenced by these old geezers?
Sooooo many great songs. My playlist runneth over.

This subtle song in particular stands out.
Bela música pessoal
good music
Questa era la NOSTRA musica, dal 1967 al 1973. Poi tutto è morto, come i vostri cervelli. Peccato per voi,che non avete provato le nostre emozioni di quei tempi LIBERI...oggi siete con il casco in testa, attenti all'autovelox e all'etilometro,poveracci...LIETO di non essere come VOI.
22 people think life's a short song...
Shame they cannot spell Jethro...in the title
One of the best songs ever! '69 to '73 = peak of tull.
One of my all time favourite songs, full of optimism and hope, I can't help having a smile on my face when I listen to this.
Life is long as a long song, but it does end and it ends too soon.
Best song EVER
I swear Ian Anderson is a reincarnated medieval bard.
"but the tune ends too soon for us all"
Oh my, this takes me back to 1971 and hearing this on BBC radio...and I was hooked...still at 62!! Just superb!!!
This track is absolute genius, poetry, and a final reminder,"Life is a long song but the tune ends too soon for us all".
might want to write the name of this band correctly soon...
This song is criminally underrated
How can one person be so talented? I don't know how he can be so gloriously creative every time!
thanks for the good vibes^^
How can 17 people not like this song.
Too bad about the typo, but Tull is great no matter how you spell it.
Magistral
CLASSIC.
How delightfully quite beautiful !
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Life is a long song....
But not as long as Thick as a Brick
Jethro, not Jehtro
beautiful track classic Tull
So long since I heard it... yet I love it. Time to reacquaint myself with it!
Maravilloso
I hope 'Truthergirl ' Sonia likes this .......
Brilliant song, still got it on vinyl,
true story!
I was introduced to this by my dad... First thought: it's like a really shady Led Zeppelin!
Twelve people would prefer a short song.
Or a short life?
I remember this song being played by a jukebox' bar on the beach ! Those were the days.
12 thumbs down? AH AH AH AH AH AH How can anyone dislike this? ISIS rascals?
Great song by a great band.
My very favourite Jethro song. So simple but so beautifully controlled. Not sure Ian has received the full credit for his massive contribution to Prog Rock. Genius
He was nominated Prog God by Prog magazine a few years ago. Rightfully so, because he just is
Just wanted to add this , he didn't do it all by himself , so congrats to the boys in band . Kudos !!
Nuff said!🎵🎶🎵👍😁🎼🎸🎷🎙
The album "Living in the Past" is not from 2002. It's from 1972.
Yes! That's 2 typos.
probly a reissue...
Start the day with this
My Number 1 favourite ever song. Never ever tire of it.
6/4,.....Perfect
Ian is the "J.S. Bach" of our time.
Love it best band
But the tune ends too soon for us all.
Jethro Till is one of the most underrated band ever ! Long live medieval Rock !
That's Jethro Toe to you...!
Till...Toe..., shmill... shmoe... , it's Great music man . Mideaval or Not ! ☺
Like the medieval rock bit, but please get the name right!
You 8 people who disliked this music get off my planet.
@loge10 our planet?
@keymaster 88 No, it's my planet and i've just let you all use it--and was THAT ever a mistake!
reaper32FL , People will always have their own tastes.! Anyway I adore this beautiful song. I first heard in 1972, a year after it first appeared. I saw a picture of Ian and the band and knew that I was going to really like them. Then I heard this song, this lovely song, which confirmed my intuition. I was 11 at the time!
sttgaegoaktd
We've got to get a bigger space ship there are now 23 of them.
loge10 Too late, sucker ! 😎
truth and beauty, who could ask for more?
One of the truly great pop songs.
I'm glad you like this song - but "pop song" isn't what I would use to describe this. I would think very view know and appreciate this song.
La vita è una lunga canzone... o l'esecuzione di una canzone?
massive like
Really, This Song should never end...
But the tune ends too soon for us all...
What the heck is wrong with this? The instruments sound like they're up an octave, and the speed is too fast. Sounds like chipmunk's playing!
Muso, aren't you?
Maybe it's you who is the chipmunk?
banging broads in beach haven man i miss those days
GREAT song! 📻🎶🙄
Better voice than his contemporaries...Plant, Jagger, etc....
You are so correct!
It was considerably better than what it is now. Sadly, Mr. Anderson has clearly lost his vocal chops.
Great song to bring in the new year. Best wishes to all in 2017.
Jim Higgins Thank you very much indeed! 😀❤
Piosenka mojej mlodosci i milosci
Ian Anderson's distinctive style of stretching a single word out to almost that of a verse in itself is evident throughout this engaging song, but strikes me every time at approximately 1:20 - 1:25. Brilliant!
If you think Ian Anderson can stretch his words then have a listen to Radiohead (Thom Yorke)
I never liked his way to stretch and howl the words, but I loved this song from the very first time I heard it in my childhood.
But the tune ends to soon for the song
The tune ends to soon for us all.......
maybe that's the moral out of it, when you enjoy it life is too short to last
I know my friends
Great song, Great artist, Thanks for posting it.
