Jethro Tull - Driving Song Lyrics
Will they ever stop drivin' me?
Have they ever taken time to see
That I need some rest
if I'm to do my best?
They just tell me gotta close it hard.
Got to think of my health.
Can I be by myself?
Oh, they tell me I'll be home someday.
Well I doubt it if I continue this way,
`cause this hard life I've led
is makin' me dead.

many many doobs burned while listening to this album on full size noise cancelling RCA headphones
This is like the Doors' LA Woman album.

the opening of the flute solo is such a killer
…good grooves with a fuzzy guitar lead…..
3 =6 = 2019 God 5 bless every good citizens amen amen amen
Wow love how Tull mixes the styles - Jazz and Blues Rock? - over the top Bass and Drumming -Clive Bunker ? the flute/ guitar solos at the end wow ! seeds of progressive rock.
We are Tull Fans. So very cool to be here with you. I am enjoying with you. Well met. I am enjoying grooving to this gritty tune with you.
This plus shrooms makes for an incredible night
Working man' s elixur.
Good comment!
not their most famous track from this LP, but definitely my fave. Thanx for this. Takes me back....

MUINTO BOM PARABENS AOS PRODUTORES DESTA MUSICA MUINTO BOA
perfect for a Saturday morning when I have mandatory overtime though I busted my ass for them all week
My favorite Jethro Tull song.
Stand Up? I always listened to this tune on Living in the Past
DARK PASSAGES, the Web Series living in the past is an album which includes many songs from this was, stand up, benefit and other jetro tull albums
This is a great song- My 67th favorite Tull song
what? Aqualung, Hymn 43, and most of that album is better than this
Mr_x 1992 sounds like you need a Tull class. Aqualung is a great album that made big on the charts. And I LOVE Aqualung, but it’s not by any means the best music written by Ian Anderson. Open up and listen to A Passion Play, Songs from the Wood, Stormwatch, Benefit, Too Old to Rock n Roll, Broadsword and see~>from the light (aqualung) into ever day(the rest of JT’s great catalogue)!!!
Always cool to meet Tull fans. This is one of my many favs by JT. Jethro Tull remains solidly in my top 5 bands. Top 2 actually. Thanks for sharing this tune.
What are the others, please share your tastes? (:
@Antonietta Mancinelli In addition to Tull, my top 5 include Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zep and Genesis. Other contenders are The Who, The Beatles, Moody Blues, Queen, AC/DC, Traffic and Cat Stevens.
@Travis White Thanks man, I'll borrow something from that list (:
JT, Camel, Gentle Giant, Deep Purple, UFO
I forgot Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer on that list too
Great and challenging training for wannabe (beginner) drummers like me!
+György L - Clive was tough, wasn't he? Love Barrie too, but Clive was more jazzy/bluesy.
The precise moment for listenning to this.
Gets me right down there- Good stuff
Great stuff.
The Best songs of this album!
I agree. Cool to relate.
J'avais oublier Living In The Past! ça c'est un morceau qui tue.
Jethro Tull c'est: This Was, Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung,Thick As A Brick, A Passion Play, War Child, Ministrel In The Gallery, Too Old Too Rock'n Roll To Young To Die!, Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Stormwatch, A, The Broadsword And The Beast, Underwraps, Crest Of A Knave, Rock Island, Catfish Rising,Nightcap, Roots To Branches, J-tull Dot Com, The Christmas Album.
Y yo me pregunto, que más necesitan para estar en el Salón de la Fama del Rock?.... si es una SUPER, SUPER, BANDA!!
Only 4 albums i did not like and only one i hated !!!!!!!
@amstell13 becuse ..you know
@gobceaglesgo "Living In The Past" was a compilation of B sides and rarities, and this track was actually the U.K. single B side in 1969 of the song "Living In The Past". Both these songs were recorded during the "Stand Up" sessions, and feature on various CD reissues of this album since. So, I guess that was the poster's logic in using the cover.
stand up was a great album , but this song is on living in the past
From comment above:
the Web Series living in the past is an album which includes many songs from this was, stand up, benefit and other jetro tull albums
Best Jethro Tull song ever made!
