Jethro Tull - Bungle In The Jungle Lyrics

Walking through forests of palm tree apartments ---
scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
down by the waterhole --- drunk every Friday ---
eating their nuts --- saving their raisins for Sunday.
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows ---
they're fast but they're lazy, and sleep in green meadows.

Let's bungle in the jungle --- well, that's all right by me.
I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake if we disagree.

Just say a word and the boys will be right there:
with claws at your back to send a chill through the night air.
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder?
Thunder and lightning couldn't be bolder.
I'll write on your tombstone, ``I thank you for dinner.''
This game that we animals play is a winner.

Let's bungle in the jungle --- well, that's all right by me.
I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake if we disagree.

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
He's a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
yes, the King on His sunset lies waiting for dawn
to light up His Jungle
as play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

My dad subjected my brother and I to this back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Hated it back then but now I can appreciate it for what it is. This guy is a musical genius.

    m.... ....

My Brother made me a Tape of Tulls Music. I think Tull on one side and Cream on the other. my brother used to torture me with CCR. Glad to have an older brother and sister who got me to appreciate good Music.

No one blows the fluit like Ian he should be knighted

  19. J.... M....

I hear it like this because they're referring to in the United States, because I live in an area that fits this.

Walking through forests of concrete apartments-
scoff at the monkeys(anyone that is in poverty) that live in there dark tents-
down by the water hole(the bar)- drunk every Friday-
eating their nuts- saving their reasons for someday-
Lion's and Tigers who wait in the shadow's(any one)
they're fast but their lazy, and sleep in green meadow's(the hobo encampment)

lets bungle in the jungle(sport)-well that's all right by me
    I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake when we disagree.

Let's bungle in the jungle(sport) --- well, that's all right by me.
    I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake if we disagree.

The rivers are full of broken down nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass he's
a lover of life but a player of pawns ---

yes, the King on His sunset lies waiting for dawn
    to light up His Jungle
    as play is resumed.
The monkeys seem weary(tired) to strike up the tune.

  22. M.... A....

So many metaphors, Ian Anderson was a master of lyrics. Probably still is.

  23. R.... P....

This is way before my time but I Like his music and how how he plays his flute

  24. o.... ....

Damn this song plays many different instruments that perfectly compliment each other. Complex , very well produced , and fantastically performed.... Powerful and beautiful. Ian's voice was perfect for this.

  25. J.... P....

Knowing what the song is really about wouldn't this be perfect for Bonfire of the Vanities or American Psycho or a little earlier time but What Makes Sammy Run, like a perfect entrance song for a Yuppie or any other cold blooded soulless executive?

  26. j.... ....

im a tiger when i want love
but im a snake if we disagree

  27. s.... h....

Ian Anderson is so cool he can rock the flute. That's a special kind of cool.
This song has a excellent flow to it!

  28. O.... M....

It's a jungle out there so take a bong with you...!
I'll never understand how the hell this hasn't been a supernatural song yet.

  29. J.... J....

The least you could have done is put the lyrics on the video instead of stuck at the bottom.

  30. A.... D....

    one of a kind

  31. T.... U....

Okay, but I still think Nickleback is better.

  32. g.... s....

  41. C.... ....

Ayy I heard this song playing at Goodwill and just had to find it, so I listened hard to catch some of the lyrics and searched it up. I have no regrets!

  42. H.... T....

with all the trump and mexico stuff a fight with canelo in mexico vs an american would be a hit

  43. G.... ....

I only looked this up because it was named after an iconic fight. I had no idea this song would be so good. Kudos people, I just found another song to add to my playlist

  44. M.... Y....

I wonder if it was true. Did Frankie Laine envy this tune?

  45. M.... M....

i have a playlist of 200ish hits on miles mcclentic's you tube channel, this is going on it, throw a subscription down and listen to the jams

  46. M.... H....

The first Tull's song that I heard. I was 7. I heard it in my dad's car. Tull is his favourite group, and mine too. On the next year we were at his concert. Brilliant!
This was the first song that I called "my favourite". Now this isn't my favourite song. Now every Ian Anderson's song is my favourite.
A few months back we were at his concert again - the 50th anniversary of Jethro Tull. Brilliant! Some things never change. Thanks, Dad and thanks, Ian! God bless you!

My first Tull song! I was eight the first time I heard this. I think I was ten or eleven when I first heard Aqualung and Locomotive Breath. Even though I loved all three songs it took an embarrassing long time (years really) before I realized they were all by the same the same group.
I've seen him only once, back in '95 at Vets Memorial in Columbus Ohio.

  83. d.... ....

This song came out when I was 13 and I made the “mistake” of telling my classmates it was my favorite. They laughed and made fun of me so I kept it to myself, and never really listened to it again.

I heard it again recently and was reminded that it’s still awesome.

Screw my 13 year old friends; truly, what the hell did they know.

Although my kids think that I'm weird, crazy, etc. But this song reminds me of my youth and some freedom.

  98. s.... g....

Ah yes, youth. I use to put this song full blast in my car. I love the way Jethro Tull would sing, and play the flute, then the other instruments join in. It seem to penetrate in to my skin. My brother told me to lower it, I told him, just get in the car! I wanted to find my boyfriend Kenny. I would take off in a foggy, misty summer night, with a full moon up above. One of the best classic rock songs...
