Jethro Tull - A Song For Jeffrey Lyrics
Gonna lose my way tomorrow,
gonna give away my car.
I'd take you along with me,
but you would not go so far.
Don't see what I do not want to see,
Won't be what I don't want to be,
I continue in my way.
Don't see, see, see where I'm goin',
Don't see, see, see where I'm goin',
Don't see, see, see where I'm goin' to,
I don't want to.
Everyday I see the mornin' come on in the same old way.
I tell myself tomorrow brings me things I would not dream today.

Jethro Tull A Song For Jeffrey Comments
Tull wasnt about making music they were about music making!
Saw an interview with drummer, Clive Bunker where he could not come up with a drum part to this song. Ian just hummed the rhythm and Clive picked up on it.
interesting; it's a classic double up, hard shuffle; a very good one

My favorite Jethro tune!
Beggar's Farm, Serenade to a Cuckoo, It's Breaking Me Up, Dharma For One.....This Was A Hidden Gem.
Should be in r&rhof on this lp alone
Not bad. Without his voice would be better
The way he sings it, really gives the song character. Without his voice it would be almost empty..
@Wallace Callow Agreed. It's beautiful the way it is.
what, you didn't like Anderson mumbling like an old geezer?
my name jeff
Takes me back to the 8th grade!
I liked it the first time I heard it.
Superb classic!
Ok I think maybe Iommi got the main riff from 'After Forever' from the guitar part at 1:37 to 1:47
Can anyone who plays guitar (better than I do at least) or has a better ear for music than I do give me your opinion on this. I do pick up little subtleties pretty well in relation to my playing skills.
I realize Tony was only with JT for about a month but I'm sure he practiced this song in that time. He fake played it at the Rolling Stone RNR Circus.
Yes it is basically the same D to F riff. There is a slight difference in the Sabbath track where instead of just repeating that pattern, at the end of the second bar it goes F to E to finish it off.
He definitely practiced the hell out of this song. This was the one they were set to play at the Rolling Stones thing, and that was why Iommi said he left. He said they practiced too much and were too strict or something like that.
you guys are out of your gourds, this is original Tull guitarist Mick Abrahams playing the guitar parts. Iommi was in the band for maybe a couple of months when Abrahams abruptly left and he never recorded with them. The appearance by Jethro Tull at the Stone's R 'n R Circus was faked to the record, only Anderson's vocal mic was live. They were added at the last minute when Traffic had to cancel due to a previous engagement. All bands on the Circus were 100% live except Tull. No way Iommi could play open tune slide guitar like that; not a chance...
The slide, harmonica and flute are magic on this one.
This song makes me think of Dirty Harry
Eight people can't seem to see where they're going.
Most people don't get how hip this shit is. A hard shuffle with Clive Bunker banging a double up and Mick Abrahams' open tune slide is awesome with no overdubbed 2nd guitar part. The bridge and signature change work perfectly. How I wish the original Tull had toured the states in '69
oh yeah!!!
Sure. Anyway, the name of the group si hip enough.
I saw Tull in 1978 at the Boston Gardens, back up group was …. Uriah Heep.. Top 3 of the best shows I have ever seen. (that is from around 100 concerts).Perhaps only outdone by Floyds- Animals tour.
That Harmonica.
Hell, yes!
Wild Blues.
Jethro Tullsa, Oklahoma. Now there's a name to be proud of.
Fanastic
Funky and bluesy, like a lot of Tull's earlier stuff. Makes you picture somebody's transistor radio between sets at Woodstock. Great piece of history, and great song.
Love the fact that the music is incredible and you can barely recognize a word of song when he boogies!
