I needed this- I've been hearing too many people tell me to try to sound just like the song you are covering and that you are breaking cardinal rules if you don't. Jerry puts his own spinning sound into this. You knew what song this was but it wouldn't be easy to confuse this with the orig from Johnny. But he still managed to sounded great! He reminded me that you can break several "rules" without breaking the song.
I totally agree with you. There is no such thing as one better than the other. People should just lighten up and enjoy any version.
