Jerry Lee Lewis - Don't Put No Headstone On My Grave Lyrics
Don't put no headstone on my grave,
All my life I've been a slave,
Want the whole wide world to know,
That I'm the man that loved you so
Mama, mama, don't you cry,
Tell papa I'm comin' home, comin' on home,
God, it can't be very long
Don't put no headstone on my grave,
All my life I've been a slave,
Want the whole wide world to know,
That I'm the stud that loved you so
M,m,m,m,m,m mama don't you cry,
Lord, I'm gonna meet you in the by and by, in the sweet by and by
Tell papa I'm coming home,
Oh God, it can't be very long
Whoooh! All my life I've been a slave, motherhumpin' slave
And you know something? I want the world to know,
That I'm the stud that loved that woman so
Mama, mama don't you cry, mama, don't cry,
I'm gonna meet you in the by and by, in the sweet by and by
Tell papa, I'm coming home, Oh Lord,
You know, it can't be very long
(One more time now)
Don't put a headstone on my grave
All my life I've been a slave,
Want the whole wide world to know,
That I'm the man,
That loved,
That loved,
Don't put no headstone on my grave,
All my life I've been a slave, whoooh!
I want the whole wide world to know,
That I'm the stud that loved you so
Ma-ma-ma-ma mama, don't you cry, whooh! Don't cry!
I'm-a-gonna meet you in the by and by, in the sweet by and by,
Tell papa I'm coming home, coming on home...
...And you know something ladies?
Oh, God, it can't be very long

Jerry Lee Lewis belongs on the "Mount Rushmore" of Rock and Roll. And I don't want to hear no fucking argument about it. The man is a living legend and a pioneer of Rock and Roll music.
Behind the great singing hidden away is a man with a lot of love for
His fellow man. He has give a lot of money over the years to help others. I met him in 1969 at a little county airport in eastern kentucky. He was on his way to play that night in willianson, west virginia. A woman was traveling with him, a mrs mullins from knoxville, tennessee.
I was impressed with the man then, and i still am.
...he may be a legend, but you are foul and vile. I’m for JLL and we pity you.
...”Danny Rumbles”
king of all kingS
This set was a "smasharoo!" Too bad JLL and Elvis didn't get together for some live jam sessions dueting on this type of material.
So better than Elvis
OTHER THAN ELVIS THIS WAS MY GRANDMOTHERS FAVORITE ARTIST. MY GRANDMA RAISED ME. SHE HAD A HEART ATTACK & WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. MY BOYFRIEND & I HAD TICKETS TO JERRY LEES CONCERT THE NIGHT OF THE LAST TIME I SAW MY GRANDMA ALIVE IN THE HOSPITAL. I HAD A FEELING SHE'D NEVER COME HOME. SHE ASKED ME TO GET HIS AUTOGRAPH BUT I COULDN'T GET IT. I'M ASHAMED TO SAY I WAS GOING TO HAVE SOMEONE SIGN HIS NAME & GIVE IT TO HER. I'VE NEVER TOLD ANYONE THIS. I NEVER GOT THAT CHANCE. SHE WAS GONE. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME I'VE LISTENED TO HIS MUSIC SINCE SHE PASSED IN THE 80'S. NOT BEEN ABLE TO. R.I.P GRANDMA. THIS ONE'S FOR YOU. I MISS YOU SO MUCH. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON. YOU'RE ALWAYS ON MY MIND.
@Mookie Spindlehurst THANK U. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO THINK SO. JUST WISH I'D HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE HER AGAIN BEFORE SHE PASSED TO HAVE GIVEN IT TO HER.
@NO FILTER
Thanks. I know the feeling of good deeds
left undone due to extenuating circumstances. My fave song by JLL is ECHOES. Google it.
@Mookie Spindlehurst
THANKS 4 NICE REPLY & 4 RECOMMENDING THE SONG.
@Mookie Spindlehurst I JUST LISTENED TO ECHOES BY JLL FOR THE FIRST TIME. I'M CRYING. NOW MY FAVORITE JLL SONG ALSO. HITS HOME FOR ME. CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T HEAR IT BEFORE AS MY GRANDMOTHER PLAYED HIS MUSIC CONSTANTLY. WOULDN'T HAVE HAD SAME MEANING FOR ME THO BACK THEN. DIFFERENT NOW. THANK U AGAIN.
@NO FILTER
Your great reaction made my day! Another great song is
Jerry Wallace on LIFE'S GONE AND SLIPPED AWAY. Also
GONE, by Billy Walker.
Even off his face on coke he still can rock

Love old Jerry Lee keep playing this great songs you are a great player and singer God bless you love love your piano playing the greastest
This is a man at work
Jerry Lee Lewis was underrated in rock and country. He has much more talent than many more famous or successful artist!
I love Rockabilly and Jerry Lee Lewis. Let's be honest that he's a deviant wierdo that derailed his own career.
@Todd Phipps He's 90, so no. He's not a hero, and not underrated. I can enjoy his music and am happy to forget why he was blacklisted for so many years. His contributions will outlive his demons and I'm fine with that.
@sleeping gorilla he's 83
Get it killer

The great Killer ----
Absolutely the best.
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, Johnny Cash is the best. I still love Jerry Lee though.
