Jennings, Waylon - Time To Bum Again Lyrics

Woman you get meaner every day
And your naggin' is hard to stand
So I'll pack my things and I'll be on my way
'Cause it's time to bum again.

This house gets smaller with every day
And the walls are closin' in
I guess I've said all there is to say
And it's time to bum again.

The time has come to bum again
I'm gonna see all the places I ain't been
Woman you've stirred up the wild, wild wind
And it's time to bum again.

[Instrumental]

I'll visit my buddy out in Bakersfield
We soldiered together years back
We'll talk night and day till there's no more to say
Then I'll head on down the track.

I may come back in a year or two
And you may not desire me then
There are some things that a man must do
And it's time to bum again.

The time has come to bum again
I'm gonna see all the places I ain't been
Woman you've stirred up the wild, wild wind
And it's time to bum again.

Woman you've stirred up the wild, wild wind
And it's time to bum again...

Jennings, Waylon Time To Bum Again Comments
  1. W.... W....

    The one and only,

  2. F.... S....

He was a great singer- songwriter, but also a fantastic guitar player. He's got this 12 string talking to me! My favorite singer. There will NEVER be another like him!

  3. C.... L....

    Still just a pup!
Smooth face. a nice hair cut. the 12 string.
Sure glad they got footage of the old stars

  4. D.... R....

One of a kind sound, no one was making songs like this at the time

  5. J.... B....

First heard it in '66..fresh outta the Navy....still my alltime favorite Waylon tune!!

  6. d.... ....

    what happened to music

  7. W.... W....

Oh man I miss them legends ,

  8. M.... B....

I bet Nashville wishes they had as much talent in their stable as Waylon had in his little toe!!

  9. l.... b....

This old stuff is real country music. Today's country music is Pop music. Most of today's country music isn't very good. I like most of the female country singers. They still have the real country music sound. All the male singers sound alike

You used nicer words than I do.👍

    l.... b....

Larry I wish i had a nickel for every time i'd read this comment, fact is there is PLENTY of great new Country coming out,you won't hear it on your radio though, not even satellite radio, look into artists like Sturgill Simpson,Tyler Childers,Colter Wall,Joshua Hedley,Lydia Loveless and if you want I can give you a whole lot more names of artists who right now in 2018 are making genuine country and western music ,no Jason Aldean,no Florida Georgia Line, that is NOT country, not by a longshot.

  10. F.... ....

one of the most unique voices

  11. s.... w....

    great video like # 355

  12. D.... G....

I ONLY LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC. BEING A JERRY GARCIA NUT I HAVE LEARNED TO APPRECIATE A LIVE RECORDING. ONLY GREAT MUSICIANS SOUND BETTER LIVE THAN IN THE STUDIO. YOU GET TO HEAR THEM IN THEIR RAW FORM. IVE PUT THE DEAD ON THE SHELF DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF HIGH QUALITY WAYLON THAT IS LIVE(MOSTLY TELEVISION) BUT SOME BOOTLEG MATERIAL. AND THAT TURNED ME INTO A FAN AND FOR A YEAR I HAVENT STOPPED. IM 37 DUKES OF HAZZARD I GREW UP ON. OF COURSE I KNEW A FEW SONGS I LIKED BUT I WASNT A WAYLON HEAD UNTIL I GOT TO HEAR ALL THIS LIVE MUSIC!!!!! IM TURNED ON

  13. M.... ....

He was so nice looking and the best singer and guitar player

  14. C.... M....

    The audio sounds amazing.

    C.... M....

I didn't have good hardware back then, so I dubbed the audio straight out of the satellite receiver when this episode came on, then recombined it later with the video. Thanks.

    C.... M....

    @butanebandit Nice

    C.... M....

    not really

    C.... M....

I'm only using earphones, but it sounds pretty good.

  15. 1.... ....

the man is playing a 12 string respect

  16. M.... ....

He was one of the best. I love to hear him sing

  17. c.... ....

Musical genius. I think he looks better clean cut than he did with the outlaw shaggy look.

    c.... ....

Looks like you don't got taste

  18. J.... L....

Bob Dylan obviously ripped off Anita your dreaming when he wrote "To Ramona"

    J.... L....

@John Lockman Bob Dylan, Bob Schmylan. I don't know what's gotten into that old guy lately.

    J.... L....

Other way round, pal. Dylan's song is from 1964 and Waylon wrote this one in 1965. Both are great.

    J.... L....

Well, at least in Waylon's version we know it referred to Johnny Cash's sister in law Anita Carter, the loveliest of the western female singer of that era. I'm sure Bob Dylan's Ramona wasnt nearly as beautiful by a long shot. Waylon had to step away from the Cash Shadow when he struck out on his own, and the rough touring schedule made it impossible in those days to be faithful to anyone.

  19. M.... W....

Was this song influenced by Jack Kerouac? Not that Waylon was Bob Dylan, who I think was influenced by him, but "bumming " was something from the beat writers wasn't it? Now I need to go and disect the songs of Waylon and see where his influences lay. Was this Porter Wagner's show?

    M.... W....

Miles Winslow yes it was the porter wagoner show

  20. G.... K....

He wasn't a Cricket, I think they had broken up by that time..

  21. G.... ....

    Will never forget this man!

  22. D.... ....

He played bass a little for Buddy and was slated to be on the small plane that crashed and killed Buddy in Iowa.  Waylon gave his seat to Buddy for the fateful trip.

    D.... ....

Buddy was going no matter who else went - Waylon offered his seat to J.P. Richardson, known as 'The Big Bopper b/c he was sick.....and J.P. accepted. Waylon's kindness saved him and let us have some great Outlaw music.

    D.... ....

@ncc1968 NCC1968 is right. Waylon's generosity earned him another 40 years of life.

    D.... ....

The first session was 10 September 1958 Norman Petty Studio, 1313 West 7th St., Clovis, NM - Waylon Jennings (Waylon Jennings [vcl], Buddy Holly [el ld gt-1/ac gt-2], Tommy Allsup [gt], George Attwood [bass], Bo Clarke [drums], King Curtis [sax] + The Roses [chorus]. Producer: Buddy Holly) [*overdub session: The Roses [bck vcl]]

    D.... ....

Man.. If he had taken that plane.... 😱😔

  23. D.... ....

This has probably already been commented on, but I didn't read all the posts beyond page one:  Waylon makes a lyrical mistake at 1:20 and should have sang "There are some things that a man must do, and it's time to bum again".  His mistake is probably why he rolls his eyes.  I love the old Waylon songs like this - I think he was better before he did the long hair thing, though some of that is great as well.  SL

    D.... ....

    Who cares ?

  24. v.... ....

Oh my god I can't get enough of this man...

  25. p.... ....

He has a new CD out now with unreleased songs. His steel player, Robby, helped produce it. Shooter, his son, put together an 8 song album of his dad singing some of his hits and other songs you never heard of in Shooter's arrangements. Both great.
