Jennings, Waylon - Folsom Prison Blues Lyrics
I hear the train a comin'
It's rollin' round the bend
I ain't seen the sunshine
Since I don't know when.
And time keeps draggin' on
But I see a train a movin'
On down to San Antone
Bet there's rich folks eatin'
In some fancy dining car
Probably drinkin' coffee
And smokin' big cigars.
Well, I know I had it comin'
But them people keep on movin'
And that's what tortures me.
[Instrumental]
When I was just a baby
My mama told me son
Always be a good boy
Don't ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno
Just to watch him die
Every time I hear that whistle
I hang my head and I cry.
If they freed me from this prison
If that railroad train was mine
Bet I'd move it on a
Little bit farther down the line.
Far from Folsom Prison
That's where I long to stay
And I'd let that lonesome whistle
Blow my blues away...

Listen to the song. It's about his guilt, and how he knows he's getting what's due to him.

man people don’t appreciate stuff like this anymore
Welcome to a small taste of the Native Life, Farm Aid.
Corporate greed and white racism is still the main cause of genocide against Native Nations' and broken treaties.
Johnny Cash is the only artist in the Country Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Song Writers Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
Far from Folsom prison! OMG I miss them so!
thanks for this, sooo good x
Both total legends
I love ol Waylon, but he can't hold a candle to Bob Wooton
R.I.P. Johnny, Waylon
Waylon Jennings was one damn awesome guitar picker.🎸
This is definitely in the top three category for two legends on the same stage at the same time. I'm sure it's #1 for many opinion.
Very nice
If you believe in forever.and life is just a one night stand.if theirs a rock and roll heaven dont you know they have a hellava band.
Is there a version of this at a higher quality sound? If so, let me know, ya dig?
Absolutely top shelf!! They don't make entertainment this great anymore,...truly sad
Brings tears to my eyes. COUNTRY is not worth listening to today. Country music died with them legends. Randall HANK WILLIAMS is still kicking.
greatest singer Johnny Cash
2 of the best
It doesn't get better than this!!!
Who misses Johnny & Waylon.?
I do, nothing will ever be like these legends, bless you my friend.
Jason Jones I sure do!
Love the sound of ol Waylon’s talacaster he is the man
Two of the best!
Country music is not the same when I grow up and my dad use play these songs . I wish they have radio stations just with older music
This is great! Why can’t shot like this be in my recommended videos!
R.I.P. man in black
Maybe JC's best song, then so was IWTLine, Big River and Get Rhythm. And 'Riders in the Sky. Waylon with Cash as good as it gets!
Waylon has a belly going
This was the day I learned to love Johnny Cash. In person, he was soooo amazing. Was lucky to be there that day.
Two of the Greats!
Probably
Waymore can play that damned guitar.
Another stop I'm making when my time machine is complete. Here tonight.
Einzigartiges Gitarrensolo von Waylon
Einzigartige Stimme👍
Awesome
Funny how guitarists today have 10 different guitars to play a show. Waylon and that Tele are legendary. One guitar, one man.
Anyone who hates this song can pound sand.
Johnny Cash one of the Greats 👍
I was lucky enough to see Johnny cash with June carter cash back in 1998 in Laconia N.H.
“Two-of-a-Kind” right here Folks...then they broke the mold.
I wonder if Merle ever joined them in concert ...he was another bad ass.....J Cash, Waylon, Merle, Kris and Willie
in concert would of been the ultimate country event.
Waylon was cool
cash was a tool
Two legends; they don’t make men like these two anymore. These are the real country legends & real country music I love.
Love you guys
Two legends👍
Is that Bassist Glen Campbell?
David Sadler
It looks like our talk is gone man. 😂 The comment is deleted. And no, the bassist is not Glen Campbell. He sure looks like him, doesn’t he
ThijsVrolijk Yeah
Johnny Cash is a Collosus who sits astride all of country music
74 thumbs down..LOL - Stop LOL
Could listen to this every day!
Two all time greats together
Some of the best ever
this sucks-just kidding
Génial !!
Flying high together 🦅🦅

Half of the Highwaymen.. the other 2, Willie & Kris, are in their 80s now ... and soon there will be none left
LEGENDS love em
Waylon nailed the lead!
Waylons gettin it
The 2 best singers to ever live WAYLON & CASH
Lo mejor de lo mejor,...…..que Gran tema
I went to this concert to see Sammy Hagar as a birthday present however, it is astounding how many legends were there to perform. BB King, Orbison, Beach Boys, the rockers, amazing to think about 33 years later.
Johnny didn't need any back up.
Damn imagine how much longer they’d lived if they didn’t get so heavy
Badass AF 🤠👏👏👏👏👏😎
hello my name is johny cash
Love it!
miluji country
This put faith back in human race... Blown away ofcourse by the vocals.. but sublime is the relationship here.. so much respect and Love...
pure class
This is music
awesome
Waylon Waylonized it with that guitar solo!
You hit it, when it's Waylonized there aint anything better. Bless you my friend, not many understand music that was Waylonized.
As I always say,"Two of the John Wayne's of country music right there". It was cool to see them both doing Folsom together. Cash had that big voice and Waylon added his signature picking to the song.
Listen to that ovation from the crowd. I just got goosebumps when that classic guitar line kicked off and he started singing here. I wore out my father's "Live at San Quentin" album when I was a kid, and I was more of a rock fan than a country music fan. I clearly remember a convict on that album yelling out "Where's Luther Johnny?" Johnny explained that Luther Perkins had just passed away recently. I did not know who Luther was then, but boy I do now! Johnny Cash has always been cool -which is why he was able to get so many great rock stars to guest on his TV show in the late 1960's. They knew he was the "real deal."
Wow real country will never die unlike today's garbage
Johnny cash....yeahhh!one of the best country artist of all times...
Have to the way Waylon puts his own guitar sound and beat in the song. Starting at 2:02 2:25
p.j. harvey
Johnny Cash tearing the house down. Awesome.
Two singers I idolize
Waylon was a beast on guitar.....very underrated!
@Jason Jones No. Waylon tossed coin with The Big Bopper, but Buddy was also in the crash as was Ritchie Valens
@Lassi Miettinen
Oh that's right, it was
the Big Bopper - i knew it was one of them he did a coin toss with,
thanks for the reminder..
@Dane Goodman hankwiliam
Jason Jones not only that but him and Buddy Holly was joking as he boarded the plane with Buddy saying I hope your bus gets stuck somewhere and Waylon returned with I hope the plane crashes. Then it happened and Waylon would never live it down after that.
@Eian Merino
Oh Damm.!.!.
Didn't know all that, i remember taking a grey hound bus to
Los Angeles from Seattle one Christmas..
The RV was full with family & friends, then i did
Rock-Paper-Scissors
with my cousin for who would ride in the RV & who would take the bus..
I lost taking the Grey Hound,
but before i parted from them all
i said - you guys gonna try & beat the bus.?
They said I'm sure you'll break down somewhere allong with way,
i said yah- I'll have layovers along the lines, but then said i bet you have at least like a flat tire or 2 before you get there..
& They had 2 flat tires before getting there 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks for this gem! 1985...whew! seems like just yesterday it was on cable.
Very Great,Duo . Love Both,There Music as Alot of Others Of there Time. 😊
it's a shame what the idiot's today to country music. Love these guys
