Jennifer Warnes - I'm Restless Lyrics

There are words to say but I swear I just can't find them
Though in my heart I know fools
May hesitate from the memories behind them
While the angels laugh and say, I told you so
Oh, I'm restless, darling I'm restless
Waiting for you to look my way
I don't think that I can wait another day

I cry when the feeling overtakes me
'Cause the love I give seems so little in your eyes
The test of time always breaks me
With nothing tried, and nothing realised
Oh, I'm restless, darling I'm restless
Waiting for you to look my way
I don't think that I can wait another day

No man is an island but you do that very well
It sure takes a fool to find another

But I believe for every heart that's broken
There's a stranger's smile to put it on the mend, then
Those old familiar feelings seldom spoken
Out of nowhere come back again
And I'm restless, darling I'm restless
Waiting for you to look my way
I don't think that I... the hour is getting late
I can't wait another day

This was my early favorite song written by Jennifer. I was 29 and the lyrics hit home for me. "For every heart that's broken, there's a stranger's smile to put it on the mend" is such a rich and powerful line. It has stuck with me for forty years. Her new album Another Time, Another Place is just as heartfelt.

Here's an album that had many chances to purchase, even at a garage sale, and never did; I've regretted it. Some of songs from this album appeared on a compilation album but, I still wish that I had this album. Is it available on dvd?

One Thanksgiving when lived in Hollywood The Watchtower religious newspaper people knocked on my door and asked to come to talk about the Watchtower newspaper. I was playing this album on my stereo at the time. Upon hearing Jennifer voice they said "whose that?". They came in and we all listened to the album together. I was the one (via Jennifer's great voice) doing the converting that day

This is great, but I heard the first ever live Quo performance of it and the crowd were stunned. Beautiful stuff, with Rick on keys.

This is Ms.Warnes most hauntingly beautiful song, and she had quite a few such songs.  What an amazing talent.

  15. B.... ....

Under rated and ahead of it's time.  Beautiful

  16. S.... L....

This song shot through my heart when It first came out. It still does. Best one on the album. Though I do love the grumbling about humming... But the test of time always breaks me too.

just two words ... love it

I did the same. Just got my first keyboard and used this LP to get me started.

I love Jennifer, have all her stuff, love her voice, get her emotion, but routinely feel she needed a better producer. With maybe the exception of Famous Blue Raincoat and I Know a Heartache, the background is standard, takes me nowhere.

  20. M.... H....

Way underrated subtle masterpiece. I've loved this song since its release. As for its impact, I can't even get through the into without tearing up!

  21. C.... A....

What a marvelous song. Why was this not a big hit?

  22. B.... ....

My throat catches every time I try to sing this.

  23. A.... M....

    This is a beautiful song
