To each their own. There are many interpretations to any song. Just enjoy each artist as they put their own voice and personality into their version. To think “your” opinion is a “true” measure of the relative worth of an artists effort is just not correct. And your credentials are what as a music critic?

That's a bit harsh. Her gentle soprano lacked the power that the song calls for. Jenkins is a lyric coloratura. There are songs written for that voice, and she is ideal for those songs. This song calls for a dramatic soprano (sometimes called a soprano robusto). Loren Allred was picked to sing this song in the movie because her voice was exactly right for the song.

@Conrad In Hawaii There is no more useless observation when someone posts their opinion than bullshit statements like "in your Personal opinion, of course". Well, DUH! Of course it's the man's "personal opinion"! One would have to be an uneducated idiot to not recognize an opinion when one sees one. Only a pedantic asshole would have to point that out, as if everyone else was too stupid to recognize it for themselves. And who would post an opinion that wasn't their "personal" opinion? Opinions are like noses. Everyone has one, and some are reasonably attractive and some are butt ugly. Just because you are entitled to have an opinion doesn't make it more worthy than anyone else's opinion. And calling on millions of strangers as reinforcements is a cheap trick to make your own "personal opinion" carry more weight. The fact is, many people like Jenkin's singing. She is an outstanding lyric coloratura. This song was written for a dramatic soprano. Now, that's "just an opinion", but it's the opinion OF THE MAN WHO ACTUALLY WROTE THE SONG! In this situation, I think the man who wrote the song has a more valid, worthwhile opinion of what type of vocalist is needed to do the song justice than someone who is just a fan of a particular singer and who loves everything she does whether her voice is right for it or not. Wouldn't you agree?

I don't agree that she destroyed it, she IS an amazing singer, but some of the phrasings just seems a little rushed, which steals from the drama. This song is ALL about drama and this performance, great though it is, lacks that :(
