Jenkins, Katherine - Don't Stand At My Grave And Weep Lyrics
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Jenkins, Katherine Don't Stand At My Grave And Weep Comments
It’s 6 years next week since my dear Mum passed away. This song is very comforting, even if it brings upsetting thoughts. Wish I was more worthy of her.
I read this at my mums funeral
Sarah Connor Chronicles of 2008 brought me here
The original poetry has become (a thousand winds)
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumun's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
I read this out at my mums funeral and it still makes me feel sad as it was one of my mum favourites as when both my nana and granddad passed away it was song in old Latin for them by me as they were from old Wales as me and my mum are Welsh in my family I am the only one now in my family god bless you all and thank you katherine Jenkins for singing this song xxx
Awesome, Katherine💜👍
blessings🙏
Our darling daughter Angie has recently passed away and I was privileged to read this beautiful poem at her serviceJust to hear Kathleen Jenkins sing it so beautifully is so uplifting. Thank you. Paddy
Good luck finding sheet music for this setting. There's an SATB song, but I get the sense that Jenkins is just winging it.
Algum brasileiro ouvindo em 2018?
To all my brothers who never came home, to those who came back in flag drapped coffins, those who came back no longer whole, I miss you, and hope wherever you are that Jesus looks over you.
I honour my mom. It's her birthday today and tomorrow is her death day. I find it very comforting. I love Katherine Jenkins, thank you oxoxoxo
This version is much more serious work than the earlier Japanese version, which is plain and emotionless in my opinion.
I couldn't understand why Hikaru thought it was so great? The only thing is it was sung by a Japanese pop singer.
I like this poem. it remind me if friends lost, my identical twin who passed and other loved ones gone.
superb poem, beutifully sung. She is a great artist!
In loving memory of Steffen Mikkelsen 10/05/92 - 29/07/2015.
The best i ever had and ever will have.
THIS IS FOR ANGRY WHITE BITCHES FROM HELL ---POAG MA'THON!!! GOD BLESS THE REST OF YOU !!!
this recent folk song is tops
Wow, this is an amazing song for anyone who has lost a beloved parent. I lost my Mom about 2 months ago and deeply miss her.
Blessings to you' ~ it is a profound kind of grief that leaves a hole in the soul ... I find no words to even begin to describe the loss of a mother..my mom just passed away this Sunday. I choose this poem for her cards at funeral home yesterday' and it is nice to hear it put to song... I truly believe that is how we honor them ' by sharing a memory ' we feel there presence all around us' and the love remains unchanged ...
The words to this song is based off the poem do no stand at my grave and cry that Katherin Jenkins had Discoved after she lost her father from lung cancer.
Would love to hear this read by Sir Patrick Stewart...
The poem/lyrics express my own sentiments and beliefs. I didn't know the words were set to music until today. Thank you for posting.
this was my brothers song at his funeral. it always makes me cry R.I.P JASON!!! xxx
beautiful
anyone knows where the sheet music of this song can be purchased?
The original version, in japanese is more musical and touch than it...
Look for Sen no kaze ni natte, or hayley singing it... Doesn't sounds like a hymn
Tiago Hikaru This was written by Mary Elizabeth Frye, an American housewife and florist. It was originally written IN ENGLISH. She never copyrighted the poem "Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep", the poem she is most known for, because she felt the poem belonged to the world. She wrote and published it in 1932.
it is so moving and beautiful
at my cousin's spring concert a few nights ago, the women's ensemble performed this song
I read this at my father's funeral too, hardest thing I have ever done but I know he was proud of me. He said so when he asked to read the eulogy I had written when he was dying of cancer. It might seem morbid that he read the eulogy but the tears in his eyes told me all I needed to know.
dying of cancer is really tough. thanks for sharing. Ur dad is proud of you, that am sure.
@chantrynutjob it was wrote by Mary Elizabeth Fry
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR KATHERINE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
I just buried my mom this afternoon and unbeknown to me, she had chosen this poem to go in the little remembrances. A friend sent me a sympathy card with this song and it has touched my heart and lifted me up.
My best friend's mother (who was like a second mother to me) lost her fight with cancer a few short days ago. Today on the way to the funeral, this song came up on shuffle on my ipod. It was such a comfort, even though I still felt like crying when I heard it.
I lost my Son in 2007 this is a great Hymn thank you
OMG I Am Sorry! :'(
Wow, I love this song .... a million words cannot describe how i feel about it

one day exactly this version will be played at my funeral
This was played at my late Wife's funeral 10 years ago at the end of the service. The music at the entry to the crematoriuim was Nimrod. A memorable service.
