Jefferson Starship - Winds Of Change Lyrics

Walk softly through the desert sands
Careful where you tread
Underfoot are the visions lost
Sleeping not yet dead

Hang on - Winds starting to howl
Hang on - The beast is on the prowl
Hang on - Can you hear the strange cry
Winds of change are blowing by

Mountains crumble and cities fall
Don't come to an end
Just lie scattered on the desert floor
Waiting for the wind

[Chorus]

You got your life planned carefully
But you left out one detail
The hidden hand deals just one round
And the winds of change prevail

[Chorus]

Walk softly through the desert sand
Old dreams lead the way
Nothing new in the sands of time
Just changes every day

Hang on - It's starting again
Hang on - There's no shelter from the wind
Hang on - Like a fire from the sky
Winds of change are blowing by

Jefferson Starship Winds Of Change Comments
  1. M.... N....

Here the sounds of a million people, millions of children in motion, all of us waiting for the rain to wash away the dust from our bodies...Never like this new direction.

  2. G.... B....

Nothing like bad 80s fashion to make a fantastic band look like a modern day joke. LOL

  3. J.... S....

Electrifying!! I loved this song the moment I heard back in the early '80s, but it got so little airplay I only caught it a handful of times. Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas, what a powerful duo. Two of the best voices in rock and roll history. Thanks YouTube!

  4. K.... G....

Like that BC Rich Mockingbird. Mine was black.

  5. C.... M....

Grace looked so hot in this video.

  6. O.... H....

I always thought the band sold out when they morphed to “Starship”, but i do enjoy this song and the great vocals.

  10. M.... M....

This was a good album but "Freedom at Point Zero" was their Best........lots of great Rock and Mickey Thomas only.

  11. A.... M....

A very poignant and significant composition. amjmetaltomotown

  12. S.... B....

I'm so glad to hear them play the songs from this album, because this was truly a work of musical brilliance on their part! They really proved their point as ROCK-n-ROLL Legends! Aerosmith had it right all along when they sang"Let the Music,do the talkin" !

  13. S.... S....

    GTA tlad

  14. B.... D....

Brilliant music but this is some scary stuff, if you are really paying attention, which requires research and vigilance, and despite that, you can still be hurt from the deception.

  15. i.... u....

World war 3 playlist building, you?

  16. J.... G....

THis is an 80's wet dream. I had almost forgotten about this song. I had bought this albumn back in the 80's when I was about 12 years old, when I had joined one of those clubs where you paid 2cents for each albumn after you had bought several at full price. Damn, I was 12 years old and I didn't really KNOW what albumns to buy back then, I bought THIS albumn by Jefferson Starship, Sheena Easton and, the rest were mostly crap. I was into metal music and most albumns available in that club for 2cents each were POP music I never heard of.

  17. S.... ....

DAMN, I never heard this song before,

  18. C.... D....

Their guitarist has one of the best guitar tones ever! What a player!

  19. J.... H....

Grace Slick always both attracted me and scared the living crap outta me

  24. L.... P....

This Starship has never gone on impulse, only Warp Speed.

  25. D.... G....

Must I really say anything? 🤔

  26. L.... ....

    Freemason symbolism...

Saturn devouring his son.. / Saturn der Verzehrer...

in the lyrics : the "HIDDEN HAND" deals just one round..

    0:58, best part

  30. R.... P....

  31. R.... P....

Grace Slick has that "witchy" vibe to her like Stevie Nicks.

She has a lovely haunting sort of voice and beautiful eyes.

  36. c.... s....

    Wow, that's music.....beautiful G. Slick with a powervoice.

  37. S.... D....

everyone’s talking about grace and yes her voice is wonderful but not many are talking about mickey? his voice is amazing too and really underrated he deserves so much more recognition

  38. L.... B....

    80s forever

  39. D.... G....

    Goddamn right great music!!!!!

  40. D.... G....

WTF ! THIS IS REAL MUSIC!

  41. D.... C....

poor Paul Kantner ....seems a fish out of water

  42. R.... C....

Never get tired listening to this..

  43. N.... ....

I had completely forgotten that for several years Jefferson Starship/ Starship had a monopoly. Somehow they pulled off the coup that netted them the best male AND female singers in rock history: Mickey and Grace!

  44. G.... T....

One hell of a wind machine

  45. P.... W....

Ahhhhh, Grace. You are AWESOME! The power, the delivery, the psycho look, and being a stone fox to top it off. And Mickey compliments you well!

  46. M.... ....

I've been listening to these starship albums from late 70's to early 80's straight through for the first time in years - if ever. "freedom at point zero", modern times" and "winds of change" are really good albums.

  47. R.... R....

Great tune! I have loved this tune since the early 1980's!

  48. M.... D....

Being from SF I hung out or rubbed elbows with everyone here

  49. J.... J....

    Loving those BC Rich days...

  50. r.... ....

The solo in this song is sick, as is the outro. 'Black Widow' is actually the best tune on this album, love this track as well.

  51. C.... R....

The, they are so underrated, sheep are out in force.

  52. R.... C....

Love the backdrop, CARVIN stacks.!!!! Carvin rocks, great musical equipment. Way to go guys. Thanks to the props department.

  53. K.... ....

Love that guitar god shot of Craig Chaquico standing on top all those Carvin speaker cabs at the end.

  54. b.... ....

Craig's guitar tone sounds just like Aldo Nova's from around the same time.

  55. J.... L....

    Thanks Craig!

  56. J.... L....

    Thank Craig!

  57. T.... M....

    2 very good lead singers!!!!

  58. S.... D....

    Paul Kantner RIP

  59. G.... R....

What is shocking is Grace Slick is almost 80!

  60. j.... r....

Ruled stacks of carvins, and that slick voice , chicurio guitar

  61. S.... R....

I know it will never happen...but what I wouldn't give to go back in time!!

  62. p.... ....

could be...........no wait......is my favorite Jefferson Starship song.

  63. H.... R....

Craig Chaquico. Super underrated musician. Love that guy's guitar playing!

  64. l.... ....

I miss The Jefferson Airplane. Sigh.

  65. P.... N....

One of the best JS tracks, even though the rest of the album was an absolute dreck.

  66. L.... M....

Come on, I mean who doesn't like Grace Slick?

    L.... M....

    Queen of Rock and Roll!

  67. J.... S....

    Grace hates him

  68. D.... B....

Wow what a great song I have not heard this one before man on man what a great song 🤩♥️

  69. D.... B....

I haven't read through all 700+ comments, so someone else might have mentioned that the drummer in the video is not the great Aynsley Dunbar but instead, long-serving stckman, Donny Baldwin.

  70. G.... G....

She looks just like my mother in law

  71. p.... b....

Possibly the worst song ever written and then even preformed worse. Pure shite!

  72. R.... P....

Grace Slick Janis Joplin Stevie Nicks Linda Ronstadt Pat Benatar Tina Turner Cherie Currie Joan Jett Patty Smyth Ann Wilson are ALL Rock Divas that put these auto-tuned bitches to shame!

  73. B.... V....

She would have been around 43 years old in 1982 - can you believe it!!!

  74. R.... P....

I can smell the hair spray from here...

  75. I.... C....

Esoteric symbolism is strong in this one.

  76. L.... H....

Those sunglasses were too much! But great song!! Great vocals harmony guitar solos!!

  77. k.... ....

    Loving that groove, always have

  78. L.... S....

Grace was fine as a mf.

  79. J.... B....

This IMO is the best version of the band.

  80. R.... _....

I remember watching this video on MTV.

    {Days gone by....}

  81. R.... R....

    Classssssssssssics

  82. S.... H....

    Freemason imagery abounds.

  83. R.... G....

    Shoulder pads Mick? reallly?

  84. R.... G....

Is that joe Lynn Turner playing the guitar?

  85. R.... G....

Grace was kinda hot back then.

  86. J.... B....

The winds of change are blowing.

  87. B.... K....

All style, no substance. They put more work into their appearance than their songs. They did three good albums, their first three. Blows Against the Empire was a psychedelic masterpiece, with a very different lineup from this one. Dragonfly was a very good album, "Caroline" was a beautiful song. Red Octopus was good, but all after that were terrible.

  88. T.... M....

Nothing says "The 80s" like the shoulder pads Mickey is wearing under his shirt.

  89. j.... i....

Grace..one of the great woman of alltime.....queen esther, joan of arc, marie antoinette.....talent, beauty, real.

  90. B.... H....

Any other Jefferson Airplane fans from back in the day very uncomfortable with this smooth/slick/corporate crap Kantner and Slick drifted into?

    B.... H....

this was great 1980s music but the rigged corporate music industry did not give this music the airtime it deserved like it did for shitney houston and jacko and madonna. this is great music that was not played on radio like it should have. to be corporate you have to be promoted endlessly and this wasnt

    B.... H....

@Davin Gladwell I agree...this version of Starship fit the 80's, which I love, but I never heard these on the radio. Only on MTV.

  91. j.... e....

Esta canción, puedo escucharla todo el día.

  92. E.... o....

0:35 nothing gets your attention like a woman standing with her legs spread.

  93. s.... ....

I like starship, but this is song should've been filed in the round bin.

  94. B.... H....

Craig Chaquico is one of the most underated guitar players of all time....if only "We built this City" had not happened....

    B.... H....

It's not a bad song they just played it to death. Not even near their best stuff.

  95. H.... L....

My son was a toddler when this came out. The whole family would dance! All of us have poofy hair. Don't we all? Jefferson rocks!

  96. s.... q....

Sounds like sign of the Gypsy Queen by April wine

    s.... q....

    Exactly

  97. P.... W....

I like Dunbars drumming better but this song and album still kick ass

  98. p.... ....

The only women of fame that I love now as much as I did in 1969
