Jefferson Airplane - Wild Tyme Lyrics

It's a wild time!
I see people all around me changing faces!
It's a wild time!
I see love all the time!
I'm doing things that haven't got a name yet;
I need love, your love.
It don't matter if it's rain or shine.
I'm here for you anv old time stay here, play here.
Make a place for yourself here.
I want to be with you, no matter what I do,
what doesn't change is the way
I feel for you today.
Times just seem so good.
I do know that I should be here with you this way,
and it's new, so new.
I see changes, changes all around me are changes.

Jefferson Airplane Wild Tyme Comments

None of these songs has a lasting groove. They change in ways that makes me think who's ever doing the composing is deliberately, obviously avoiding normal music theory. Doing it just because it's different, thought provoking maybe? But it's not aesthetic at all. I used to love this album. Or thought I did. But listening to it now I have to ask myself, "What was I thinking?"

Wow! Music definitely matches words. I can remember dancing to this when I was a teenager! Nobody could outdo freakazoid, and what an era!

It feels weird listening to this without smoking weed, But the memories remind me of the time.

  7. A.... L....

I have everything that the Airplane released. This was my favorite album. What a trip.

  8. w.... ....

I wish they would remix and bring Kantner's guitar more to the front. I love Jorma, but he often overpowers the mix, IMO.

  9. A.... B....

    Paul at his best

  10. S.... H....

    RIP Paul Kantner

Jefferson Airplane is the heart and soul of LOVE

  17. S.... W....

I believe you are right! LOVE

  18. S.... C....

    they had 3 lead singers

  19. S.... C....

"The name "Surrealistic Pillow" was suggested by the 'shadow' producer of the album, Jerry Garcia, when he mentioned that, as a whole, the album sounded "as Surrealistic as a pillow is soft." Although RCA Victor would not acknowledge Garcia's considerable contributions to the album with a "Producer" credit, he is listed in the album's credits as "spiritual advisor.""

  20. S.... C....

You know Kantner,Jorma and Garcia were all buddies on the folk circuit.Garcia produced Surrealistic Pillow? Then members of the Airplane Dead CSN all worked together on David Crosby;s solo albu, and then Blows Against the Empire .It;s not a competition. If some music speaks to you, more that other music that's great.

    S.... C....

Samba C Grace even sang Crosby's penned "Triad" on Jefferson Airplane's "Crown Of Creation" album.

  21. B.... W....

whats it gonna take, another thousand years for you to realize Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead were both incredible bands as well as friends? Box of Rain is a masterpiece, Phil Lesh is a musical genius, and im tired of ignorance in people.

  22. Z.... ....

this song owes most of its excellence to Pre-Hot Tuna

  23. T.... ....

I was a ten year old kid in Brooklyn, New York in 1969. The Mets won the World Series, the Jets won the Superbowl, riding the subway by myself, anti-war protests where construction workers were squaring off with hippies in the streets, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon, greatest music of all time was on the radio, Wild Tyme indeed.

  24. S.... D....

    AMEN !!!!!!!

  25. C.... ....

@bwanna23 hey, start painting again, it's never to late to be creative and have fun!

  26. A.... T....

Were they referring to Phil Ochs' song Changes perhaps?

  27. S.... D....

    great albubn

  28. w.... ....

This band easily has the best duel lead singers in the music world, they are both amazing at singing and dont need crappy otto tuners to make their voices awesome

  29. x.... ....

"After Bathing at Baxters" is part of the definitive soundtrack of San Francisco during the 1967-68 period. "Cheap Trills", "Anthem of the Sun", "Children of the Future", and "Happy Trails" go on that list

  30. S.... S....

sarasailor, I've held to your position for over 40 years. No band, no band, had male-female vocalists to compare with Slick and Balin, a superb guitarist in Jorma, a visionary songwriter in Kantner, and the absolute, living end in bass players in Jack Casady. Plus, they were lucky to be in just the right place at the right time, so that their music and the culture fed each other, helping each soar beyond what would have otherwise been possible. Fly Jefferson Airplane! Gets you there on time.

  31. b.... ....

this album made me paint pictures like mad back then. i still have a few.

  32. g.... p....

    where's wavy gravy?

  33. T.... D....

    this is actually track 5

  34. p.... ....

I wonder how many hits of LSD were consumed at this recording session?

  35. C.... H....

    @ThousandYearsOld
Who is in competition here? The Dead are pretty awesome. Jack, Jorma, Marty and Grace are too.

  36. C.... H....

I saw them play this in Houston in 1968. They opened for the Dead. Actually, my friend and I, David Rainwater and his honor Silversumo, requested they play this.

  37. R.... Z....

I see changes all around me, changes....

  38. d.... ....

The notes played by Jorma and Jack at 0.50 are amazing . True syncopation.

  39. j.... ....

Yeah, but it's about forgetting all the rest and just concentrating on that Classic Airplane period 67-70. A staggering melodic diversity of sounds in a blistering hot few years. That's the output we want to remember and have heard again. REMIND THESE PEOPLE!

  40. v.... ....

this is probably the weakest song on ABAB but still really good. :)

  41. V.... T....

"...retarded what could have been better music. "

Can't separate the two. There was greatness that led to excess and depravity, and that's commonplace. Artists and musicians have never been known for their restraint and self discipline... take look at what went down in the jazz world in the 40's and 50's .. Bird, Monk, Miles etc - they made some pretty good music. So maybe the solution is to get off acid and move to the hard stuff? Cite some examples please of your "better music"....

  42. V.... T....

"i experimented, but i am a responsible person now"

    I'm not....

  43. D.... G....

    Bass, Mon......

  44. D.... G....

    ...humbug....

  45. s.... ....

    Prove it

  46. s.... ....

It was real when death was near

  47. i.... ....

i think not. i beleive it was the one drug lsd which was responsible for alot of the music. lsd was a bridge . once the mind was opened it was time to stop doing it but it truely changed music. some abused the gift and there were organic substances that were similar but i think lsd was thew most dynamic. i experimented, but i am a responsible person now. I think lsd opened peoples minds.

  48. t.... ....

    say Grace before each meal

  49. A.... 7....

Try to search for the mono version of this album.
The bass is much more up in front.

  50. K.... ....

I also like the Airplane, and even Starship. The Dead were also a special band. But to say one is better than the other, hey music is a personal thing, and I am not quite as judgmental as others here.Rock & Roll forever

  51. j.... ....

always thought this was one of their more accesible, radio friendly songs. of course, it was never and has never been played on the radio
