Jeff Healey Band, The - Jambalaya Lyrics
Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh
Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou
My Yvonne, the sweetest one, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have good fun on the bayou
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Thibodeaux, Fontainbleau, the place is buzzin'
Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen
Dress in style, go hog wild, me oh my oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Jambalaya, a-crawfish pie and-a file gumbo
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Jambalaya, a-crawfish pie and-a fillet gumbo
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-oh
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.
Son of a gun, we'll have big fun on the bayou.

Jeff Healey Band, The Jambalaya Comments
Jeff Healy sang lead vocals on all tracks except "Jambalaya" which had Alec Fraser (Bass) sing lead. This album wasn't a quick release to capitalize on his death. It was planned and recorded by Jeff Healy months prior to his death.
This is not Jeff's voice. Has anyone got any idea of who it is?
Great cover!!
Great cover? Man, That SUCKED! Hank sr. Would Beat the piss out of whoever that is for destroying his song like that.
hope one day all of you get to come to Louisiana and eat some chicken and sausage jambalaya ....... great post
the 2 or 3 songs i've listened to so far from this album have departed greatly from the rest of his albums....they feature the other instruments more & less of Jeff's singing....either he was really unwell or they pieced this together from music played before he died and others singing over the dubs after died then released it...
This is really one of the best covers ever recorded of this song. I love it. Please check, Fat Domino, The Carpenters, John Fogerty (Blue Ridge Rangers) and The Shocking Blue who all did good covers of the 1952 Hank Williams tune ;-)
