Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life Lyrics
Eternal Life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin, man, just need one last nail
While all these ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
there's a flaming red horizon that screams our names
And as your fantasies are broken in two
would pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel
Racist everyman, what have you done?
Man, you've made a killer of your unborn son...
Crown my fear your king at the point of a gun
All I want to do is love everyone...
And as your fantasies are broken in two
would pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal
Oh...
There's no time for hatred, only questions
Where is love, where is happiness, what is Life,
where is peace?
When will I find the strength to bring me release?
And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said?
Man, It sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And I've got a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye
to life eternal angel...
Angel...

Jeff Buckley Eternal Life Comments
How do you know that life completely goes? The many worlds theory could very well be true, an infinite amount of alternate worlds under the same sun, each based on opposite decisions we or others have made in life. The brain is a lot more intelligent than we all know and its neurons power the universe. Just because the body gets burned or buried doesn't mean the mind stays, and the reason there's nothing before birth is because it's the start. If you look at the worst case scenario of there being nothing, nothing is still something, a concept of what is. Dimensions, wormholes, consciousness, eternal life, the void and more. Open your minds people. Near death experiences mostly always mention a light, that my friends is your destination. Listen to the end of the track Iowa by Slipknot, it's scary.

Feel you this power in his play , his voice , and his intensity
R i p Mr Jeff Buckley 💖🙏💖🤘
Fucking amazing.
Sounds like something muse would make. He influenced a lot of artist.
porfin encontre el tema de duende
I picture Muse going to their Origin of Symmetry producer with this record under the arm: "We want to sound like this. But just the last song".
There's no time for hatred, only questions
What is love, where is happiness, what is life, where is peace?
When will I find the strength to bring me release?
DUENDE LIVE!
I have no idea which version I love more... This version from Grace or the "Road Version" from the single... Tough call. Both are amazing.
The thumping, thundering bass in this song is surely Jeff's paean to grunge. Awesome.
Grace is the complete album. It's soaked with every emotion. The covers are superb and the original song writing is sublime. This song just rocks! No compromise. My favourite album of all time.
This song blows me away every time I hear it... 24 years and counting!
My project in Manhattan was for a couple of years, I left that city kicking and screaming...
All I did was to live and work in Manhattan, this music is still glued to me.
IN SA NO
Happy 52nd birthday Jeff
Chris Cornell definitely listened to this intently.
Chris Cornell started his musical career long time before Jeff.
@Anki Hansen you hear buckleys influence on Chris in audioslave
I suspect they were both looking at robert plant as a main influence
CAN'T STOP ADDICTED TO THE SHINDIG

can't stop by rhcp was released on 2002 this was on 1994 lol
5 steps to eternal life
https://youtu.be/GC7JfeXCWCg
Awesome bass on this
The drummer was incredible too. Full of amazing nuance.
Nice Mayhem cover.
Only Jeff could have an album with a song like Corpus Christi Choir on it and then something upbeat and more funky like this. The man could really do it all
That hi-hat groove though
lmao, almost funk metal
forever Jeff
Eternal love
It will be twenty years since Jeff's marvellous voice was silenced forever
I saw him perform at the now defunct Astoria venue, London in 1995, and he was on
the cusp of an exciting wave. Like his late father Tim, he had an astonishing vocal range,
and he had a band that could match his incredible talent.
This was my favourite track from the only official album he made, when he was alive.
Like Amy Winehouse, he was a brilliant talent whose life was cut too brutally short.
Thank you +
I can't decide whether i like this version or the live version more.
To be honest, this the only song i don't like in the album.
My favourite Jeff Buckley song, has been since I first listened to his album in (not sure) 95 or 96 ish. I can remember trying to get my friends to like Jeff and no one wanted to know about him. Then later on, everyone was a JB fan! Which in it's own circumstance is sad and wonderful at the same time.
Sounds like Muse mixed with Jane's Addiction lol
Anthony Duran you mean muse and jane's addiction sound like Jeff. Many current artists recycled his sound.
Nah. Jane's Addiction's first album was released on 1987. It sounds like early Jane's.
Can't stop, addicted to the shin dig
Chop Top, he says I'm gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
oh wait wrong song
Nicolás Riveros Haha so true !
YES THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING.
Saaaameee thoughts
AAAAAAYYYYYY
Tell me where is the love in what your Prophet has said?
Proof Jeff would be a Trump voter
What!? That line is a dig at religion, referencing how so many religions claim to be based on the principles of love, equality, freedom and peace and then condemn other religious groups and even condone or create violence towards them, or limit the civil rights of minorities such as homosexuals. If anything, it surely proves he was a liberal.
I was joking bruh
+Daniel T sorry. I find it quite hard to interpret sarcasm online.
Eternal life a his songs...💖💖💖1gen 2017
Duende plebs over here? #DuendeOutro
"THIS IS A SONG ABOUT…IT’S AN ANGRY SONG. LIFE’S TOO SHORT AND TOO COMPLICATED FOR PEOPLE BEHIND DESKS AND PEOPLE BEHIND MASKS TO BE RUINING OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES, INITIATING FORCE AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES, ON THE BASIS OF THEIR INCOME, THEIR COLOR, THEIR CLASS, THEIR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, THEIR WHATEVER"
Best comment I've read all year !!!
From start to finish, one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded!
URKillingme100 no doubt. it's the chariot upon which Buckley rode into the pantheon of the rock gods to take his rightful place.
icecreamforcrowhurst - that description will run through my head like a music video every time I hear this song now.
A lot of musicians die after their creative peak, and of course it's sad, BUT:
You get the feeling this guy was just getting started.
You get the feeling?? Of course he was just starting out. What we've all missed out on I just can't even think about .
@Laura yeah he could have been one of the best musicians around today! we'll never know though. But i kind of believe people die when they are supposed to die. Hope that doesnt upset anyone its just my belief.
@Simon0 whatever our thoughts are it's our musical loss x
Why’d you have to ruin my day with this truth?
@Simon0 Lul
It's never too late to realize what world are we live in Angel :)
miss u jeff.
LOVE this guy, great music
Rich words from a dead man
James Franco should star as Jeff in a movie, that'd be awesome!
Matthew Lewis
what would the movie be about? a tragedy? a talent gone too soon? no thanks. too predictable.
I can't believe that hasn't happened yet!
He does look just like him
Have you seen the one with Penn Badgley playing JB?
Good stuff!
Such a similar sound to the RHCP's.
+Alex G H Sansbury Sounds like Can't Stop
+Alex G H Sansbury is more like Silverchair
+LucasLetsPlays well this song was made before, so actually can't stop sounds like this track
it's maybe why i love this one
It is the sound of the bass that is reminiscent to "Give it Away" by RHCP
Sounds like a message to ISIS. Jeff Buckley predicted his own death through Grace.
+Derek Henkel it could as easily be a message to christians, but also for anyone who bear racist, homophobic beliefs.
"If peace is not for everyone, then no one can have it"
you Derek, are seriously deluded.
It's a huge "FU" to religion as a whole really.
Honestly, I have an official guitar music note book to most of his songs, and this one has the coolest chords and progressions; I just love how it all goes, it's awesome.
It just makes me sad he never made much more.
Of course I love guitar parts to Vancouver, and Sky is a Landfill.
Just so unique and creative. He really managed to do something compeltely different in a world of bland imitators. Most rock songs now are simply some licks and maybe big power chords, but this song is so much more detailed and complex. You almost don't hear it all when it's being played though. Very subtle I guess.
+ryshenton Any chance you have a decent link to these progressions/chords?
All the tabs I can find are really simple open/power chords etc.
Thanks!
Well, I don't know if it's that "great" but I just thought that some of things he did were pretty novel and interesting. That's the thing, it doesn't stray too far from being a typical hard rock composition; but it had some real cool ideas without being 'wanky' and all about 'solos' and shit. It's a physical book I own, though. I can tab it later this week, maybe, since it's not been done justice, I guess.
@ryshenton That would be awesome if you get a chance to! I'd really appreciate it.
Hey, I was wondering if you ever got a chance to tab out Eternal Life from the book you have? Would be so grateful!
@ryshenton Hey did you manage to tab out the song? 🤘
Sounded like tool for like the first 30 seconds....
+tylerloveskorn And there's a heavier live version of that song too.
+tylerloveskorn or Dont Stop by RHCP
+Karim Bawazir I think you mean Can't Stop :)
@vvrath Damn, I didn't even realize that, my bad. and thanks for correcting me
I think he is one of the best male musicians to have ever lived
And Lenny Kravitz :)
Definitely THE BEST
Okay, he's pretty good, but I wouldn't go that far.
Samantha Crooks one of the best soloist to be precise
not necessarily male only ...., ha, ha, ha;
This has got to be my favourite song of the century. That vocal... the emotion... that groove... that arrangement... Far out.
That intro sounds remarkably like the one to Can't Stop by the Peppers. Or rather, the other way around
@Smorkser there is a huge difference imo, different rhythm as well. all those effects make it remarkably different to me.
+ Smorkser Yeah this was released in 94. Cant Stop was 2002
Smorkser mix them and wonder what you'd get
This was well before dude
I tell you what this is: HEAVY METAL SOUL - and the metal in it is gold. The heaviness and lightness intertwined; presented by a being that called music his father and mother, just like Saint Francis of Assisi called the moon and death his sisters so we can better understand that all manifestations of reality have a nurturing and generous property as our own family. It is for us to pay tribute to these things and Jeff payed tribute to music by setting poetry in motion by means of sound sculptures. He himself said poetry came to him first. This stresses in my mind that poetry is a critically important testimonial that we are all sublime, our inner depth is cosmic as the universe itself. HUMANS CANNOT BE ENGINEERED. Hence as communities we pull the sublime time and time again from wherever normalized society may have subjugated it, by not paying for it or giving it air time. Nevertheless the sublime emerges through its emergent properties; Because we are in this life to share wonders with each other in acts of generosity. Such as sharing the answers of the questions others place to us. What is love? Where is happiness?; What is Life? Where is the peace? LOVE IS: Friendship and Admiration; HAPPINESS IS: In giving happiness to others ; LIFE IS: Through our craft paying tribute through excellence to the trades we love, so we can set in motion wonders, give wonders to others, empower others for wonders. THE PEACE IS: At realizing and putting in to action love, happiness and and life.
Thank you Lewis C. Your wise words have helped tremendously. 🙏✌🎶
That guy is an eternal legend. So unique and authentic music.
Jebus. That note he hits and holds at 4.22. The finest vocal moment I ever heard. Gives me a shiver every time I hear it (and I've heard it thousands of times).
+Beggar Wall His father did millions of better vocal moments
+matteo campus Go listen to his father then.
You should do it as well
The end of Grace, I think, is even better.
lol... great but nothing special... listen Judas Priest - Blood Red Skies
Amazing track - amazing album, it slipped under the radar in The Uk , but we knew it was a ground breaking record , lets keep it secret to ourselves and not involve the plebs - they can listen to their 1975 ( who are sh*t by the way )
This song really shows how much of a leggiero tenor Jeff Buckley truly was. At 4:23 he does a very light mixed voice D5 (which to most sounds like falsetto) which he eventually puts more and more chest in with brilliant vibrato and trills up to an E5. Holy shit, it gets me every time. Jeff Buckley will always be a legend and always my favorite singer.
gives me goosebumps everytime. I like him a TAD bit more than Freddie Mercury ( I know I know).
that vocal section is legendary imo
from another world
R.I.P. buddy
YES, YES, & YES!
@***** Nonsense. He didn't kill himself.
I love the guitar in this song. It makes me wanna headbang lol.
Buena rola bendiciones para esta banda
Jeff Buckley murió en mayo del 97 y aún es considerado como uno de los más grandes de su generación por su voz y su estilo...
My favourite track from my favourite album. Love you, Jeff.
This song is surprisingly... Dare I say it?... Heavy!
I honestly wouldn't be surprised to hear that riff in a metal song. Haha
@Bobby Mopfeet I would have loved for Jeff to make more songs like this.
Gloriously heavy!
If you think this is heavy you should hear the 'Road Version' which makes this sound like a nursery rhyme :D
@John Arundell That and their version of Kick out the Jams.
@soundslave Once at a concert in Melbourne a lady who presumably wanted to hear sweet hummable songs like Last Goodbye all night asked Jeff why they played heavy stuff, to which he replied "Because we dig it."
"Tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said
Man, it sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And i've get a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye to life eternal
Angel" fucking amazing!
If you're referring to how the bass sounds, then RHCP were doing this long before Buckley. Just sayin'.
The more I listen, the more I like !
