Jeff Beck - Ice Cream Cakes Lyrics

Ice cream cakes, lollipops babe
Ain't as sweet as you, no
Ice cream cakes, lollipops babe
Ain't as sweet as you, no
It's so nice to be loved by somebody
Somebody like you, year-lord
Let me tell ya now

Got lips that taste, like fresh strawberries
Through and through, through
Whatever you got babe
I'm gonna keep it
Just to share, you
It's so nice to be loved by somebody
Somebody like you

I've got this burnin' desire
It just set my soul on fire
You know you burned me through and through lord
I just wanna be with you girl

Ice cream cakes, lollipops babe
Ain't as sweet as you, no
Ice cream cakes, lollipops babe
Ain't as sweet as you, no
It's so nice to be loved by somebody
Somebody like you, year year

Bravo ⚘ absolutely LOVE this tune 02-02-2020 now as much as i did then when it came out. I wore the grooves off my album.

  2. F.... ....

Damn...this is incredible, what a groove by this jazz rock ensemble. No one member outshines the others, they all meld into a creative masterpiece, Timeless and beautiful: Mozart, Bach, Schubert would shake their heads and smile. All the crap of the day fades away when I hear this.

  3. S.... E....

    🖤💕

  4. P.... B....

Daft title but brilliant song, fantastic guitar-woweeeeeee

  5. j.... m....

Happy Christmas, How's about that one 😎

  6. O.... S....

    Masterpiece!

  7. K.... J....

Finally, found a copy of this album. Thank you 'rickyon' from the bottom of my heart.

This album truly helped me to be a much better drummer than I could expect. Ringo, Bonzo, Buddy, Gene, and all of them were great, but not nearly as musical as Cozy.
Max Middleton should be in EVERYONE'S band.
But, Jeff was, and still is, the musician's guitarist.

  8. L.... R....

    Nice final guitar wha-wha

  9. R.... ....

i just saw jeff beck a few weeks ago . still amazing ! ripped my head off .

  10. n.... ....

a lot of great rhythm guitar on this album as well as lead.

My introduction to Beck. My brother turned me on to this song/album and I was a fan for life!

  14. 1.... ....

Thru the years Jeff has put together some of the finest musicians producing imo some of the best music recorded. Jeff can pick em & play with em like no other. Bless him!

  15. C.... D....

Love it. Reminds me of my big brother Max loved to play drums & sing this. Special tune for me.

  16. C.... D....

Man, I remember wearing this album out. It was my big brother, Max's album. So he got me another one. Loved watching Max play drums, twirling his sticks, mouth open, and singing this entire album.

  17. r.... s....

i think mr tesla taught mr edison a trick or two

  18. M.... G....

    Diggin it*

  20. J.... T....

    Please, Bob Tench deserves recognition.

  21. l.... l....

I prefer this version of the JBG than Rod Stewart, better musicianship all around and and actual black singer instead of a white desperately trying to sound black

  22. K.... H....

I saw this tour in Toronto1972. This is the absolute best Jeff Beck Album of all time. Get it. Jeff at his peak with Max Middleton and Bob Tench was loaned to sing.

    K.... H....

I was never gaga over Beck --- but I have this album and its is awesome.

  23. j.... n....

cozy was the baddest, kickin dbbl bass in 72

  28. c.... ....

There is not one garbage track on this album. A maserpiece.

    c.... ....

cclady222 it seems everyone is forgetting Rough and Ready part 1 to the orange album part 2

  29. c.... ....

On my third CD of this. Can music plus perfect vocals get any better than this. To think that this was on the radio as normal everyday life.

  30. J.... Z....

...reminds back in the day(early 70's) loading up the car with friends listening to this album, particularly this song rolling those papers (you know what I mean) driving the Bronx River Pkwy from Burke Ave to Jackson Ave in Yonkers....blasted on the way back And sounded better of course....lmao!

  31. A.... A....

    Great album!

  32. j.... d....

guitar solo is way ahead of its time.

  33. J.... L....

  36. S.... I....

Just discovered this song today and it is absofuckinglutely MIND BLOWING!!! Back when Rock N' Roll still had a large, swinging, menacing pair of balls!

  37. m.... ....

Saw them in May 1972 at Carnegie Hall, NYC. I believe they opened with this....Stunning.

    m.... ....

I was there and they did.

  38. D.... G....

Jeff Beck has been surrounded by the best for decades. Think 60s . Beck is beyond most guitar pickers-lol. You can here his desire for jazz way back when. No rules- just right !

  39. c.... h....

    Always there for me.

  40. E.... G....

    heall yeah,,great musician

  41. D.... G....

Sounds just like my LP- separation is perfect. I never know whether to do drums or try lead-LOL

  42. K.... ....

This is school! The way I like it. Jeff Beck Group laying it down the way it is supposed to be. Whaaww whaaww whahhwwwww..... and Cozy Powell, bangin the skins, right next to the best of these excellent musicians.

  43. A.... J....

1972 Went and seen this 3 bill act , Argent, Blue Oyster Cult, Jeff Beck Group = Doing The orange Album

    A.... J....

I saw that tour when it came to Chicago. I was 15 at the time. Beck played a 3 hour encore so the concert didn't let out until 2:30AM, so I didn't get home until almost 4AM, so I got my ass kicked by my Mom! I'll never forget that concert...

    A.... J....

@Henry Streator The ass kicking was probably worth it.

  44. 2.... ....

    4:04 keyboard solo
    nicky hopkins ?

    2.... ....

    Max Middleton.

    2.... ....

  45. A.... A....

nice to be loved by somebody like you ,.....one of my favorite, great song

  46. a.... h....

my childhood in one cd......thats why i play guitar....

    a.... h....

Hell, yes. I actually had the opportunity to meet him, and told him as much. He honestly seemed to be thrilled at hearing it. I'd always heard he was a tempermental prick, but the guy I met was super-cool---like any guitar player you'd meet playing at a club in anywhere-ville.

    a.... h....

All you dream ? raised in a time un immageianry ? "Pray to Mother Mary"

    a.... h....

    It's why I love music

  47. 8.... ....

one of the greatest albums of all time. tench was the perfect voice for beck. jazz, blues, and whiskey rock singing behind the best guitar player alive.

  48. 1.... ....

Tell me that guitar isn't cranked up! Anytime you here fingers sliding so you know.

  49. S.... V....

    A masterpiece my friends!!!

    S.... V....

    +Stephen Vattimo
    Agreed.
    This and Rough and Ready.
    But why the orange?

AGASAJOOOOO QU8E BUEN SELECTIVO MUSICAL !!!!!!
RICKYON MUCHISISIMAS GRACIAS, HICISTE PURA MIEL.

  56. M.... ....

    Amazing... after all these years!
I recall seeing Jeff Beck at Georgetown U in the late 70's(?). The ENTIRE audience was so enthralled with his playing that we stood balanced on the backs of the chairs in hopes of looking over the person in front of us. EVERYONE was silent as Jeff wailed away on his guitar. A genuine and universal sign of the utmost respect for his playing. Oh yeah... Zep sucks, stole all their licks and their songs. Mr. Beck created his own. Just my opinion...

    M.... ....

    @Mark8395217 Very Nice!!!

  57. E.... ....

Killer song!  Max Middleton to the MAX!

    E.... ....

Yeah man Max Middleton really brought the magic to this record. Everyone equally contributed to the records greatness but it would have never been the same without Max Middleton. His playing took it depths unimaginable.

  58. d.... ....

The sum of the parts were greater than the whole with this collection of uber musicians that Beck pieced together. His best collaboration ever............

  59. J.... B....

    Good!!! Very good!!!!!

  60. T.... ....

I just got this lp from 1/2 price books yesterday, playin it now.If anyone is wondering like I was, grab it.

  61. E.... S....

Cozy...this was one of my favorite drum openings ever and played it back in the day and the band would say ....what ?

    E.... S....

Eric Slingerland my oldest brother Max, drummer, loved Cozy also. Miss him.

  62. P.... B....

I absolutely love this song.  While I was really into Jimmy Page as a teen, retrospectively, I see that Jeff Beck was just as talented, if not more!

    P.... B....

I think Beck made it a point to stay out of the spotlight. Love all of them tho. They cheer my soul.

    P.... B....

IN AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ARENA...than one-another.

    P.... B....

@Salvatore Economos I'll mention Peter Green and Mick Taylor

    P.... B....

check also robin trower, pat travers and frank marino!

    P.... B....

Tbh i dont undertand the fuss about page. He was so bad live
Sloppiest guitarist of his generation and the biggest fraud of them all.

  63. D.... S....

  64. K.... P....

ah ! takes me back to I lovely time! just lovellllly close my eyes and I'm there

  65. n.... ....

beck and middleton so good together.

  66. C.... ....

I sincerely feel the Max Middleton is the unsung hero of this record. I mean he plays some of the most meaningful moments on this album which I had back in 1972. For the record I was 14 at the time LOL This album is one of the all time classics and I still love listening to it after all these years. Thanks to all of them for the wonderful memories.

    C.... ....

    Max was the best !

  67. I.... R....

Just one more thing. At 2:40 the break to the solo is really cool.

  68. I.... R....

    Great song, monster groove.

  69. n.... ....

    best tune on the album.

  70. C.... R....

Hearing Todd Rundgren say, recently, that Jeff Beck's his favorite guitarist somehow makes Beck sound even more brilliant...I personally like Todd's playing more, but, of course, he's not going to say he is his own favorite guitarist, although he's not the most humble musician...hey, how the fuck could someone be as great as Todd and not know it??

  71. C.... R....

Why? You know it ain't Bogert and Appice on this, right???

  72. g.... ....

Love Cozy Powell's drumming. One of the best rock drummers from that era!

  73. d.... ....

do not rock my plimpsoul; you know what I mean,

  74. H.... W....

Music for the mind and soul

  75. s.... ....

    COZY MANNNN

  76. r.... ....

    You're welcome.

  77. M.... K....

Thanks for this, one of my favorite Beck songs.

  78. N.... ....

I remember when I first heard this in 1974 as an aspiring young rock guitarist. It blew my mind as I had no previous concept that the electric guitar could be played this way.

  79. R.... F....

    Great Bob

  80. o.... ....

The late Cozy Powell on drums....

  81. 1.... ....

as long as people remember Cactus, rocknroll has a chance.

  82. r.... ....

    You're welcome.

  83. s.... ....

I wore out this and Rough and Ready .you can really hear where Jeff is headed musically Thanks for putting this up.

  84. H.... P....

I might have been a doofus @ 14 yrs old (okay I was) when I heard Clark Booth play this album on his AM radio show, but I knew what I liked. The album still stands up, 40 years later. Thanks, Clark.!

  85. P.... ....

One of the hottest selling albums in my record store in Gainesville, Florida in 1972.

    P.... ....

    PMMG4HYBRID. good with Gainesville Green

    P.... ....

    YES!!! 1972 was a very good year!!!1

  86. S.... ....

Makes me want to hear some Vanilla Fudge. or Cactus

  87. G.... V....

Pochi gruppi sono riusciti a mantenere nel tempo la stessa qualità musicale ottima registrazione e grande rendimento. Indimenticabili.

  88. i.... ....

Every tune on this recording just SMOKES!!!!! PERIOD!!!! Classic hard rock album. Better than Beck, Bogart, & Appice IMO

    i.... ....

    Ten times better than BBA.

  89. 4.... ....

@keeksterkw Well, some people are just deaf idiots. I wore this album and 8track out.(Yes I'm old) Man could Bob Tench sing!! My old band used to do Situation and Goin' Down, and I did the vocals and played bass. My guitarist was Pete Perico. A philipino who could smoke anybody. We played Steely Dan, Beck, Rush and a lot of other artists nobody would attempt to copy. We had to throw mainstream stuff in like Zep, Beatles, Boston etc to get gigs though.

  90. D.... S....

The one person who "disliked" hates ice cream and superb guitar playing.

  91. j.... a....

very underrated - album, band, & lead guitarist !!!

  92. c.... ....

the studio version is hard to beat but there are several live postings of this song out there, right now. the best part of this song is how it ends with that trippy riff over and over. masterpiece! Jeff was on a mission to prove he was no second fiddle to Page. and anyone with guitar skills or just a good ear for one, will undoubtedly appreciate what jeff was able to do with a strat. he just murders it and leaves behind a crime scene but no evidence whatsoever of how he did it. UNSOLVED MYSTERY

  93. C.... ....

An All time classic record that I feel is one of best rock records ever recorded and Jeffs most creative. The compositions are really incredible with such a diverse flavor which makes it so special. Love this record which brings back wonderful memories.

  94. a.... ....

    UUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

  95. r.... ....

    You're welcome.

  96. a.... r....
