First intro to the drive by truckers came in 2002 by Mark Lyvers on WUSC-FM 90.5. Since then he, Mark aka UNCLE GRAHAM, left us for heaven and we think of him when Jason sings. This guy keeps it about as real as possible. This isn't reject rock as is so called county music is today. I'm going to enjoy it while it last because when I'm gone it'll just keep playing on! Phenomenal songwriter for this generation.

This is now one of Jason's earlier songs---before he did Southeastern and he has gone on this tremendous trajectory with Something More Than Free and Nashville Sound have continued. Now looking forward to what comes next from Jason and Company. This is one of my faves of the earlier songs. Good stuff----glad he will still do it at shows from time to time now....

Psyromantic TwinPeaks maybe it's the language barrier/culture? The beauty of his lyrics are that they are so simple, but speak volumes. The little part "that's the way you keep on smiling where you are" has shades of southern Baptist songs that you don't get if you don't know the South.

Luke Bryan is not country, but Miranda is. Plus go listen to her album: The Weight of These Wings. That's a traditional country album. I think Jason falls somewhere between Americana, Traditional/Outlaw Country, and Bluegrass, but not country pop.

Im from NZ and have known and been a fan of Ryan Adams for yeeeaaars I'll admit I didn't know Jason Isbell until I saw him open for Ryan Adams but a lot of people seemed to know him from drive by truckers. Ryan Adams has come to NZ heaps and the last two shows he played here sold out so obviously us kiwis know he is alive

He seems to do this all the time! Whenever I look at his shows, they are all in tiny places. So jealous!

I was lucky enough to discover Jason Isbell when he open for Ryan Adams in a little town in New Zealand, to be honnest wasn't expecting much from a for me an unknown opener in fact I was just gona wait at the bar until he had finished but so glad I ended up discovering such an awesome performer

My uncle (California expat living in NZ for last 30+ years) drove a few hours to see Moby Grape back in the '60s. Cops were hassling folks in the parking lot so they went in early and saw an unknown opener by the name of Jimi Hendrix.

I did the same thing after watching Lettermen. Wow what a great band and a very relaxed yet extremly powerful performance.

I heard them for the first time on Letterman last night, Novemeber 4, 2011. I watch Letterman on my DVR and usually hit STOP/Erase as soon as the musical number starts. But these guys grabbed my attention and I listened to the whole song and then REWINDed and listened to it several more times.
