This is one of the hardest songs to hear for me, I absolutely loved it in the height of my love for Jesus. in the early 2000's it Was MY SONG !!! Now , With the loss of people I trusted, like my husband - the road I traveled the last 5 years or so, I have been put through the fire. I dreaded hearing this song- well it just happened. I heard it and cried like a baby, although I still love the lord, the pain of remembering how naive I was in trusting, my heart ached. this was the song my kids now young adults probably remember most when they think of me, it was hard to trust then and I did, and I loved Jesus with everything, now at a new level I have even more issues trusting, yet deep down inside I know that He is with me and always has been. it hurt to hear it this morning , but it was needed and necessary to hear it for my growth and understanding that things change but God doesn't .
Trust is a major issue with me , I hate that it is, its not how I want to be, but it is a part of me. I am thankful for the valley, in a weird way. it is there I have grown -

I understand, more than you can know. Life can be so unbearably hard. For me, music is the most helpful and necessary thing.

I'm right there with you. Different situation but God leads us through valleys and on the mountain tops. Idk why other than to show me His love for me and everyone.

If you haven't yet. I'd invite you to watch the Film Ragamuffin. It's reignited a fire that I have longed for and often got set off the holy path because I felt like I was someone who was unable to feel the love of God. I thought I was so broken that I just ended up hoping I would have gained entry to. Constantly praying that I wasn't a bad person each time I did terrible things. Talking and screaming to God my apologies. I didn't realize till two days ago.....I am not late in finding my purpose, I just needed to be broken enough to desire to hear it. After years thinking that having a holy fire in your soul was a exaggerated feeling yet wishing it wasn't, I watched this Film and found that my purpose was not able to be found until I can hear something I understood and I understood being broken and scared and craving the hunger for Christ. My hope is everyone reading this will too.

Frustrating. I've always loved this song. I was just listening to it now, and for the first time, I questioned the line, "Not close enough to call You God." But Jesus is God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father. In an otherwise beautiful song about Jesus, that line borders on Arianism.

Ben, the lyricist depicted his search for saving knowledge in Christ perfectly. When we are seekers, we have tons of questions, like I did. He says that he doesn't want to hold anything back from God, that he wants to fall in Love, and to give of himself completely to God, that he longs to understand and appreciate all that God is, instead of offering lip service.

I grew up listening to this. Always get me back to those moments growing up remembering hearing this song, and not understanding what it really meant. And now, looking back, it really puts it in perspective for me.

I think it's because to call Him "God" is so impersonal but to call Him Jesus is first name basis, but easy.

John Paluska They got quite a bit of airplay on Christian radio up until their Good Monsters album in 2006. After that they went the indie route and fizzled out of the CCM scene because they wanted to be able to express themselves more artistically, and the indie market is the best place to do that right now.
