This song OMC was written by Randy Jackson. Victory was the last album with Michael and disbanded from the group after Victory tour. Also, this album featured all Jackson brothers. One more thing: State of Shock originally was a duet w Freddie Mercury but he couldn't finish the song too busy. So Michael went to Mick Jagger. I really don't think Freddie wanted to work with Michael. For one he seems to not want to talk about Michael when asked in interviews before his death. Facial expressions speak volumes. Say what you want to say about her but she has sold over 180 million recording world-wide with her product.

Janet's voice is soooo soothing.  I wish she would have given me one more chance.

This is a hard one to determine which version is better-hers or Randy's. I love love Randy's version but I love piano music so I will give a slight edge to Janet because of the piano work. But honestly, I could take either version and be satisfied.

Never knew she remade this.. can't touch randy's version (imo the only good song on that victory album) but I give her credit for not straying from it's original tempo and feel like most ppl do with remakes and butcher the persons music... only notable difference being the 80s type synthesizer beats verses that quintessential 90s groove which is only to be expected given the related eras...well done...a jackson is a jackson and dont wanna compare or complain cuz goes into the same family's pockets and that's what really matters ... lol

Janet version sounds good too,but Randy sang this song in a special way that have it a real and different vibe and feel.I like Janet but i.'ll have to say that I prefer randy.s rendition,the original!!

Lovely version. I don't think it's necessary to compare her version to the original. Each artist has their own interpretation. I do think it's sweet though that Janet loved her brothers' version so much that she covered it. 💛

I love Janets version. While everyone is comparing. Janet did this to help her brother out. It was the B-side to "If" and Randy was able to have financial gains as a result. Anyhoo, this song reminds me of college in my studio apt in Daly City, CA when it was rainy and overcast. Sweet memories.

yea so the original may be better...blah, blah, blah.....but Janets rendition of it added much more "Life" to it....love the piano and the harmony. When I first heard this version back in 92, I was immediately stuck on it for days playing it on repeat.....and of course it would hit certain memories and make me an emotional mess........Damn I LOVE JANET.....SHES THE BEST

Well, as soon as it was time for this song to play, I could barely hear her. I was like *dang, is something wrong with this tape*? She was singin' hella low. It's all right.
