I guess she just decided to dabble in hard rock for 1 song, and then went back to her typical music. Based on this song, she could have rivaled what Joan Jett was/is to Rock and Roll.

I always come back to this whenever I listen to Janet, and every time I hear "You wont realise til it's too late" It gets me every time. I honestly wish I could help people that are gonna end up in a bad place from doing wrong things like I did. I wish everyone was more informed and more conscious of their actions and the consequences of them. I don't really know how to help anyone though, as I'm not really in any position to make a real difference in the world, or to anyone really, as I know most young people would never listen to me. I guess I'll just tell my truth if anyone ever asks for it, and that's all I feel I can really do. I hate the fact that I think so many young people are gonna be this black cat, and do all the wrong things I've done, and a lot of them won't realise til it's too late... Sad world... Anyway this songs good, not only the message and sound, but the instrumental is amazing.

Loved this song from the first day i heard it. Rhythm Nation was and maybe still is among a handful of the greatest albums ever made. But this song is so unlike any others on that album or anything Janet ever made. Can't help but think she could have been a bona fide rock star if she chose to create more songs from the same vein as this one. The heavy guitars and ass kicking rock vocals of this song reminds me of 2 other great female rock songs- Do You Want To Touch by Joan Jett and Free Your Mind by En Vogue.
