Jane's Addiction - Ocean Size Lyrics

Wish I was ocean size
They cannot move you
No one tries
No one pulls you
Out from your hole
Like a tooth aching a jawbone...

I was made with a heart of stone
To be broken
With one hard blow
I've seen the ocean
Break on the shore
Come together with no harm done...

It ain't easy living...

I want to be
As deep
As the ocean
Mother ocean

Some people tell me
Home is in the sky
In the sky lives a spy
I want to be more like the ocean
No talking
All action...
No talking
All action...

This song knows how to pamper you and when the bass starts, beat hard

    Like my Girlfriend !

  8. R.... e....

I think it was just Mainly Perry's voice that was Infectious the band [ Navarro ] kicked ass. but5 like I said....

  9. S.... U....

Perry and Dave were the most healthy looking junkies since Nikki Sixx.

  10. C.... ....

The bass and the drum makes this tune sound so tight, not fan of the singer's voice tho.

  11. M.... G....

When I was 16, my future brother-in-law slipped me an advance cassette of Nothing's Shocking. I vividly remember popping it into my friend's crappy player in his 80s rabbit, driving through our small Iowa town. Up the Beach starts, and the 4 of us in the car look at each other like "What the f is this!" in the best possible way. Then Ocean Size hits, and it's like this avalanche of sound. They were unlike any other band at that time, not just musically, but also in gender bending and really encouraging fans to wave their freak flag high. If you didn't fit into any one scene in the 80s, they really did create a culture where all misfits were welcome.

    M.... G....

A friend recorded a copy for me, too. I was into underground rock and didn’t pay attention to Jane’s Addiction until getting my mind blown listening to the whole album over and over again. This was more groundbreaking than that album from those guys in Aberdeen, WA.

  12. R.... T....

This version, featuring less production or overdubs than the one on _Nothing’s Shocking,_ really highlights their song-craft as opposed to their pyrotechnics: all four are really in command of their instruments (Perkins and Navarro especially — Ferrell too, if you consider showmanship his instrument), but their real strength lay in crafting perfect nuggets of glammy prog-punk-metal, their own idiosyncratic approach to pop, which basically paved the way for ‘90s punk-pop.

  13. B.... L....

perry  hit the lip a little harder next time come on

  14. M.... ....

One of the best alternative acts of all time

  15. F.... B....

    Early Tool too

  18. h.... ....

    Mother ocean

  19. S.... ....

Rarely listen to Jane's these days, the original incarnation so brief and thus not many songs. But it still has almost religious significance to me. 30 years later.

  20. D.... ....

Intro ripped off from nina hagen

  21. B.... ....

An exception to the "Too much of a good thing" rule.

  22. J.... F....

I saw these guys at Bogarts in Cincinnati, first time opening up for Iggy Pop, Summer of 88, what a double feature!! Then headlining about 6 months later..

  23. G.... S....

Don't take it personally Scott Spurlock

  24. f.... ....

Lollapalooza #1 in 1991 -- Blossom Music Center outside of Cleveland OH -- Perry Farrell pouring red wine into the pit during this song. My god, these guys could have been the 1990's Beatles if they stuck together after Ritual.

  25. M.... O....

Questa canzone mi mette una carica assurda, mi viene da ballare e cantare urlando!! Fantastici!

  26. M.... ....

Great record, one of the better ones made in that era imo

  27. G.... S....

    An accidental kiss

  28. B.... ....

It’s one of those things where you just had to be there.

  29. G.... L....

Is this some kind of a remix or something? Definitely not the original album version.

  30. G.... S....

Coolest Cali Rock band ever! 💖from 🗽.

  31. m.... e....

  33. f.... ....

    FOOOOOOKIN amazing!!!!!

  34. R.... F....

    Rawwwwwwwwwwwww fuck Youuuuuuu

  35. H.... s....

In my estimation Jane’s Addiction was the FINAL culmination Of all the rock ‘n’ roll that had come before them, That was it, sharp decline, rock ‘n’ roll is officially over 2019.

  36. c.... ....

Nothing's better than fit the ocean's size...

  37. J.... S....

    Best band int the world

  38. K.... T....

Needs a few chicks dancing in diapers to make it complete

  39. L.... C....

If their plane had crashed in say, 1990 (and thank God it didn't) they would be thought of as one of the most unique, innovative bands ever and a terrible loss. They weren't metal, they weren't grunge but they were alternative hard rock without being either one of the aforementioned.

  40. M.... S....

Eric should have gotten some board coverage in this video - he's even better than Perry at catching lefts.

  41. T.... L....

    Legion made this song awesome.

  42. G.... P....

    Greatest band ever

    G.... P....

    I'm most definitely not

  43. T.... T....

The intro is Diablo music :)

  44. J.... B....

    Perry is 60 today

  45. D.... ....

This song will forever mark my friends dad driving us 3 hours up the coast to catch a hurricane swell in 1989..

  46. E.... L....

I sang Ocean Size to my vodka last night.

  47. G.... C....

Whomever mixed this song is a badass.

  48. L.... E....

Sounds like the ending of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s!

  49. F.... G....

nothing will ever be as cool as this again

  50. M.... N....

I like the album version better.

  51. G.... ....

Not love, not money, not sex, just about being

  52. S.... P....

Saw Janes' Addiction and Scratch Acid open for Peter Murphy in Long Beach in 1987 at Fenders Ballroom. Jane's Addiction was making some noise based on their live shows, they had not recording anything yet at the time of the show. Perry came out with his hair in foil wrapped dreadlock and green high waisted fishing boots, we weren't ready for that but they kicked ass and the rest is history

  53. T.... S....

where ya all at in 2019????

    T.... S....

    Still rocking

  54. J.... M....

    what a huge organic sound

  55. 1.... ....

Definitely a different version than what was on my cassette and CD, but kicks fucking ass none the less.

  56. B.... ....

Fuck, i'd settle for decent pond size at this point.

  57. D.... B....

    Rock down the House...

  63. M.... F....

Not that anyone will believe me but....my mom who is the secretary for my business heard me talking about Jane's after Jane says came on the radio...she blurts out that she used to babysit perry who sings in this band while in queens....my mom (I am 44) has never been a person to say anything to gain notice...in fact quite the opposite...I asked why she waited to mention it and she said she heard his real last name on a show she passed on tv and put 2 and 2 together...she was accurate with her facts...anyway she said he was a gorgeous little kid...I dont know why I shared , but it just struck me as funny when she mentioned it.

  64. r.... ....

It would be really cool if Warner Bros. finally got around to releasing those pro-shot videos from those shows.

  65. L.... M....

My love for Jane’s Addiction knows no boundaries.

  66. M.... A....

Back when they were an awesome band not 3 sodomites munching ass...

    M.... A....

Since when? Dave Navarro's a pussy magnet.

  67. L.... M....

  70. f.... ....

    My favorite JA song

  71. b.... ....

i hate to sound like an old man, but.. music was much better 25-30 years ago :)

  72. B.... C....

I was listening to Nothing Shocking a couple of weeks ago...I totally forgot how much I really like this fucking song...Perry was one good looking man! I remember seeing Jane's Addiction open for Love and Rockets in Las Vegas in the mid-80's...Great show! I ended up living above Perry in Venice...I was always tripping out on the music coming from his studio apt...He would play now and then Bauhuas!

  73. D.... H....

    Didn't know that Mr.Ferrell surfed .

  74. k.... s....

    Awful production........great song. Who's still here in 2018? :)

  75. 3.... W....

    Wish I was ocean side

  76. S.... A....

    โคดมันเลย

  77. B.... F....

I wanna see Jane's in concert again. It's been too long.

  78. J.... S....

This has been my favourite band for the past 25 years from this aging grandmother! This band is loved more by the younger generation I suppose but then I've never asked any people my age.Fan forever!XXXXOOOO

    J.... S....

This band is 30 years old. And everyone on Earth is "aging".

  79. g.... h....

  82. H.... R....

Pearl Jam stole a lot of solos from here

  83. J.... A....

Jane's Addiction's was the bridge between 80s hair bands and 90s grunge.

  84. S.... M....

Wish there was a word beyond "love".

  85. S.... Y....

    STILL BUMPIN IN 2018

  86. r.... ....

Rock is dead now, and the GD smartphone killed it.

    r.... ....

    You sound miserable

  87. R.... M....

I really prefer the demo version of this song and all the other Kettle Whistle ones to the Nothing's Shocking album versions. They all sound like great raw live performances with great sound, while the album versions sound over-produced. The vocals and the guitars are perfect here.

    R.... M....

    I don't

  88. M.... g....

What a privilege to know Janes Addiction ever and for ever💋👻

  89. K.... S....

    It's a barn burner

  90. N.... Y....

I was at the first Lollapalooza and it was the best time of my life. Now it's all models and wanna be indie kids and Beyonce. Jane's was the soundtrack to my late 20s and I'll love them always.

  91. t.... ....

I've come back after a year since my last post, and I still wanna know. Why is this official yet different than the album?

    t.... ....

in description it says: demo version

  92. S.... W....

This ain't the original and it sux.

  93. J.... S....

I forget to mention" to mention to mention to that was Jon Rotten that I agree with Rhino about u the the way he sid aboout
    Rachel Bolan was a smart

    J.... S....

What in the literal fuck are you talking about?

  94. J.... S....

I've loved this band for decades and this song is 1 of my favourites

  95. B.... J....

It was 1988. I was 16. The Ritual de lo Habitual tour was launching in L.A., which was in support of Nothing's Shocking. (They named their next album after this tour) There had been buzz growing about this band at my high school because Love & Rockets had just been through town and Jane's opened for them. Everyone was talking about the opening band where the lead singer whipped his dick out and drank champagne on stage. Turns out they were opening for L&R to promote this new album Nothing's Shocking. So fast forward a few months and they are now my favorite band (mostly because of this song), and headlining their own tour. It was my first concert, and my parents let me drive, unchaperoned. I couldn't believe it. The first time I was allowed to drive to L.A. without either of them (it was about an hour north). John Anson Ford Theatre. I brought a few friends. It was the first time I ever smelled weed. It was the first time I ever saw Perry, Dave, Stephen, or Eric do their thing, and the first time I ever saw a man's penis on stage. Although my seats weren't all that great, the stage antics and costumery in this vid were exactly how I remember it. A hyperglam L.A. postpunk carnival. It was both a captivating and terrifying night of firsts, and I'll never forget it. Fantastic memory. Everywhere besides youtube I am known as Oceansize. Now you know why, lol.

    B.... J....

    much love-me
    this band changed my life

    B.... J....

    Barry Johnson Awesome story.

    B.... J....

I was 15 in 88 and they didn't show for a date in boston mass.I was so bummed cuz the club was realy small and would have made a great memory.saw them twice in 91 and so on but still pissed about 88.

    B.... J....

Barry, if you honestly remember that much of your amazing first night out with Jane, then it sounds to me like you didn't smell enough weed for the first time.
So many of those daze are all kind of a pleasant distant fog for me...

    B.... J....

Dude... No One Drives in LA. =)

  96. Z.... D....

legion brought me back to this after years

  97. O.... P....
