Jamiroquai - Just Another Story Lyrics

Nobody make a move
This kid's got you covered
He was just seventeen
Trying to get on like his dead brother
Mama couldn't do a thing for him
Though she hurt inside
And daddy wants his son back
While he knows he's still alive.

Stick up kid
Thinking you're a glory boy
Fronting that stupid toy
But you don't get that it's yourself you will destroy
Running that rock on the frontline
Get to hell before your time
If you your face on the cover of High Times
Push in.

Now it occured to me
As I awoke from deeper dreams
All this evolution
And still I don't know what it means
And it gets so hard for me to change
When there's an easy way to earn
Why should I work my fingers to the bone.

Can you give more than get
Get down
With a conscious train of thought.

Light years
Can pass me by without me realising
I'm water in a stream
But ya got to keep it clean.

Dirty dreams
Purity.

How can
So many people think they're right when
Everybody's wrong?

  3. P.... D....

This has one of the livest sounding intros! Everybody is jamming.

  4. J.... C....

  5. c.... ....

  17. e.... ....

This is progressive funk. it's got at least 6 parts/acts.

    e.... ....

  21. T.... ....

Man i wish that they used more vinyl scratching in their work, sounds so goddamn cool the one instance they use it here

    T.... ....

Toasty Waffles they used it more in the live shows in the early years (as you possibly know) the problem with putting it on the albums/singles is the copyright. They had to recall/remix the song 'high times' due to this

https://youtu.be/TXPpdiA9GaA has the sample in it that got them into 'trouble'

    T.... ....

MrBillyboyroge The Kids also has that

Stu's Basslines on this song are just crazy! This is why I fell in love with Acid Jazz in the 90's. You can tell that the band was enjoying themselves when they were making this album.

  27. m.... ....

everyone in this band is truly a master of their craft, no notes wasted - none forgotten.

    m.... ....

.....never leave a good beat behind!

  28. J.... H....

is this song about depression? and Jamiroquai was Jay's way of controlling his world? "get on like his dead brother" "just another story"

  38. T.... B....

Que coisa! Sinto-me num filme da blaxploitation. Massa demais

  39. D.... R....

the Beginning of this song i remenber to Mars or moon.influence.

  40. B.... H....

This is probably my favorite Jamiroquai track ever.
That wahwah bass alone in the overture really starts it off on a good note; and it just gets better when it hits the second part.

  41. O.... G....

Tell ya, back in 94, when i bought this record. I was still a fan of Jamiroquai after visiting their first gig in germany, at börse wuppertal in 1993, booked by legendary beatbox-club.
Than i heard this song the first time. This funky beast! Blown away! So blown away!
I listen 2 this tune again an again and again. Vinyl, for sure! Great moment...

  42. J.... B....

    Seriously....new favorite..funky as hellfire!!!

  43. P.... A....

Bassline 'borrowed' from Edwin Starr's Easin In

    P.... A....

+Phynesse A Are you flipping kidding me your going to complain that this is copying in the music world we are in today? It's not even close to being a rip off

    P.... A....

+Phynesse A No it isn't borrowed it's using a simple ascending blues scale, I checked this song out thinking you were referring to the amazing intro and harmonics part of the bass line but it's just ascending blues that's been done plenty of times before, however this song mixes it with ascending chords, so if anything they are doing it better. Also the songs use different key signatures and different progressions.

    P.... A....

+number1fairfield I want to disagree with you because the music world we are in today as so much potential but continues to rip off old songs, it's lazy. however i can't disagree because it's not ripping anything off.

    P.... A....

just listened to it and im sure that part @ 2: 17 was a concious homage to Starr's song just like all (most) of Jamiroqai's music is an homage to STeely Dan (at the end of this song ) and many other funk/jazz based bands of the 70's. (at least their early stuff anyway)

  44. P.... O....

    06:47 Tremendo groove del Wurlitzer

    P.... O....

Sa per caso il nome del flautista?

    P.... O....

Es preciosísimo. Para mí es esa parte la que compró mi corazón la primera vez que oí éste álbum

  45. M.... ....

    Groove.

  46. g.... j....

i really love the end... im drunk... AND I FUCKING LIKE THIS SHITT !!!

  47. y.... ....

This song is my fav song.

  48. r.... ....

Back in '95 this track instantly turned me into an acid jazz fan - too bad most of that isn't as dope! Yet this track continues to cut it big time, after nearly 20 years

    r.... ....

Yeah dude...this tune is STILL the insane shit after 20+years(The original record..the one that OPENS with this song...and no live "Light Years" at the end--maybe it was an import?) came out in 1994...anyways-just stoned and rambling..
...just want to say that your comment was right on man..

    r.... ....

Best light years' version is one that jay sang in MArseille theater du moulling. 1994. its on youtube, check it! insane!

  49. R.... S....

One of the best songs off whole band, i listened whole discography more than 30 times. Best part starts at 2:22 - 6:47 when music is geting faster and faster, But ending and beginning are nice too :)
My best Jamiroquai song is definitely "Do You Know Where You're coming From?" and second place is "Do It Like We Used To Do". I strongly recommend them for Jamiroquai listeners :).

  55. A.... L....

  64. G.... N....

Hutt cantina, 9 AM local galactic time.

  65. l.... ....

Ahh I love this brand of Jamiroquai. Smooth, hypnotic yet intricate and fiercely funky.

The jam after he says "SUPERFLY!" is so good. Makes me wanna dance :D

  66. s.... C....

jamiroquai never fails to keep me tuned in thats why i remain a fan.

  67. s.... ....

I love dancing like a total wacko to this song... or just freestyling a la Jamoriquai. It's so groovy!!!

  68. O.... ....

Whoa me and my bassist were listening to some Pearl Jam and jokingly followed this link cuz we thought it would be stupid. Oh my god.

    O.... ....

Bought this album, Emergency On Planet Earth, Pearl Jam Vs, Ten and RATM album and Beaster by Sugar love em all 😊

  69. S.... T....

By far the dirtiest roughest, most bad ass that jamiroquai has done so far. That I've heard at least anyways.. I have about a dozen Jamiroquai songs on one on my ipods and they're all classic they wont be deleted. These guys are just too good.

  70. i.... ....

    The intro is so.... cool!!!!

    i.... ....

    ihatemeisuck The outro's even cooler!!!

  71. V.... G....

    70's New York

  72. P.... ....

All of the musicians in this band are highly underrated besides of course JK. It's like a super team of highly talented artists. Even the percussionist is always killin it!

  73. o.... t....

    De la bombe !

  74. J.... D....

The keyboard player's importance is highly understated in this band.

  75. M.... ....

What an album space cowboy was. Every tune has such soul and groove to it.

  76. T.... L....

From 0:50 - 1:29 sounds like Revenge of Shinobi arcade game/sega genesis game. LOL Their best album.
