Jamiroquai - Do You Know Where You're Coming From? Lyrics
Oh, do you know where you're coming from?Hey, nothing is as clear!
Imagine in your mind, oasis.
Far awide beyond our living.
Sure enough I'm tired out trying
Hang on when this world is spinning
There was no light
There was no sound
Here in the dark
Fishing Around For Meaning
But, I had to ask
Someone I knew
Not so far away from where I was
She said...
Hey! Do you know
Where you're comin' from?
Now where you're going to?
She said...
Hey! Have you been...
Somewhere you've never ever been before?
I said well...
Nothing is as clear!
Nothing is as clear without
Holding Hand to gently guide you.Once that disapeared
But it's so close now that I'm here beside you.
I was left down
There was no light
There was no sound
Here in the dark
Fishing Around For Meaning...
I had to ask someone I knew
Not so far away from where I was
She said...
Hey! Do you know
Where you're comin' from?
Hey! Do you know...
Now where you're going to?
She said...
Hey! Have you been...
Somewhere you've never been before?
...Now nothing is as clear
Oh, do you know,
Now where you're going to?
She said...
Hey, do you know now where you're coming from?
Hey, have you been somewhere you've never ever been before?
...Nothing is as clear!
I was left down
I was left down
I was left down
Imagine in your mind, oasis.
Far awide beyond our living.
Sure enough I'm tired out trying to
Hang on when this world is spinning
I was left out
There was no light
There was no sound
Here in the dark
Fishin' Around For Meaning
But, I had to ask
Someone I knew
Not so far away from where I was
She said...
Oh! Do you know
Where you're comin' from?
Hey! Do you know...
Where you're going to?
Hey! Have you been...
Somewhere you've never been before?
Oh, now nothing can ever be as clear.

we should have sent a copy of this on Voyager 2 before to shoot it in the interstellar space
🔥🔥🔥💚
Stole this too when I worked at Sony music in soho..roachford too.must add I purchased it after.
Er hello?
If I had to travel to Mars and could only take one CD... Because of the wait constrictions, travelling without moving IS IT...
it's too bad they don't have this version on spotify
i really love this version 💕
for some reason this isn't on my copy of the album :/
I had the U.S. version of "Traveling Without Moving" which didn't have this :( :( :(
I had to find this import Drum n Bass compilation CD that had this tune just to get it!
Drumnbassquia
I watched them make this tune literally in a matter of hours always reminds me of my daughter Lauren she wasn't long out into the world. The guys were so cool brought the Ferraris down. Big up J Derrick Simon and Toby Rip bro such a lovely guy the Rhodes and strings are him M beat had the shell of the track and him and Toby did there thing. Amazing to see. Steve Renk
Dang it's good to play this every morning before heading to school have some good vibes
Hey do you know where you're coming from, ohhhhh do know now where you're going toooooo 🎤 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person that really understands what this band was about. None of my friends get it at all. Mock me, saying cheesy shit. Manifest destiny is the most beautiful thing I’ve heard, how he can think about our past, where we came from and put it in to a vibe that in a way makes me feel good. In a way that, in-fact you’ve made it. It’s okay to feel good about what I’m saying even though it’s wrong what we’ve done. Understanding the purpose of this song is understanding
Shaun Murphy Same. People ask me what my favorite band is and I always say Jamiroquai. Laughs always ensue. I guess you get it or you don’t.
The purpose of this song is about an archangel a very long time ago was cast to the Earth when it was void and he’s telling the story from his point of view in second person.
Toby Smith genius jazz keyboard player
Too good and too short
THIS IS WHY THEY ARE TATTOOED ON MY BODY
thankful that Yamaha made the CP Reface. Sadly that keyboard doesn`t come with a JK D&B preset.
A ray of sunshine in a storm this song is everything! MSW
Pure drum & bass.
DNB with Vocals intelligent
lets go ridge racer type-4, blasting in the night
Finally
Excellent song. I see it still takes most of us back to our teenage years. lol.
Something about that “la la la la laaaaa la laaaaaaaa” at the end really completes the song.
Nice one.
Why did they remove this version from Spotify
MF Kid yeah I’d love to know. The version currently on Spotify is not good. Like a demo version. As soon as it comes on I stop it and either go grab my CD or come here to YouTube.
wooo que alegrìa escuchar esto!! genialidad de conexiòn
ahhh same as 1996-2018-∞ bliss
3:18-3:40 Tremendous voice.
This track sounds so good with loads of bass!!
this song instantly lifts my mood
Let me tell y'all, I got my entire life while dancing to Jamiroquai's Coachella set!!!! So fucking groovy.
the best album
Take me back! To the time when I was healthier and happier! :(
Childhood!
Yep, still my favorite Jamiroquai song all these years later
1996. Best year for me musically and personally. Love Jamiroquai. So badly want to go back.
Wheres the hot tub time machine? 96 and 97 are my favorite years. I turned 21 in 96 and lived in Austin. No worries at all. Jamiroquai reminds me of austin. I wish i could go back too.
Yeah this track takes me back to great memories of 1996 and being 19.
@ralph rides I was 19 too! Wouldn't you just love to go back? 😔
i just listen to this in 2032, feels so timeless
Soft music
¿Oh do you know where coming from? eh-eh-eh nothing is as clear.....and then boom 0:30-0:52
Extraordinaire 😎😎😎

De la surbombe ce titre
R.I.P. Toby Smith
This jam is multi-layered in a way that only Jason Kay could do it, a solid wall of sound. You can listen to it over and over, focusing on one part and ride out. It's definitely one of his best tracks.
Mayor inposibilite.

JamiroquaiがJKの腰痛のた為、日本ツアーを延期した・・・
JK、私達は頼む、来てくれ日本に、僕達は、あなた達の来日を熱望しています。
Jamiroquai postponed the Japanese tour due to JK's low back pain ...
JK, we ask, come to Japan, we are eager for you to visit Japan.
Nostalgia! I listened to this when I was in Japan. I miss that time :(((
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!
I think this is my favorite Jamiroquai song..... It's just sick and I find myself listening to it all the time.
R.I.P. Toby Smith
Yup! *What.* *A.* *Bitch.* Indeed...
wonderful !!!! pour moi l'un des meilleurs sons au monde
Forgot all about this amazing track!! So good!! Funny how it was a bonus track when it should have been a number one hit!!!
Found this CD at f.y.e earlier today. I've been an old Jamiroquai fan for as long as I could remember, but I never owned one of his albums. All listening I did was through Youtube, and this CD is AWESOME! Some filler around tracks 6-10 excluding 8, but after that is pure bliss!
I remember my mom buying this album when I was young child back in the 90's and having my first religious experience from it. This is the song that plays when you transcend this existence and liberate yourself and others into a higher plane of thinking
Oh, do you know where you're comin' from
He-he-he-he-he-hey
Nothing is as clear
Imagine in your mind, oasis
Far awide beyond our livin'
Sure enough I'm tired of tryin' to
Hang on when this world is spinnin'
I was left down, there was no light, there was no sound
Here in the dark, fishin' around for meanin'
I had to ask someone I knew
Not so far away from where I was
She said: "Hey, do you know, mmm, where you're comin' from"
"Hey, do you know now where you're goin' to"
She said: "Hey, have you been somewhere you never ever been before"
I said: "Well, nothing is as clear"
Nothing is as clear without
A holding hand to gently guide you
Once that disappeared
But it's so close now that I'm here beside you
I was left down, there was no light, there was no sound
Here in the dark, fishin' around for meanin'
I had to ask someone I knew
Not so far away from where I was
She said: "Hey, do you know where you're comin' from"
"Hey, do you know now where you're goin' to"

Now nothing is as clear
"Oh, do you know now where you're goin' to"
She said: "Hey, do you know now where you're comin' from"
"Hey, have you been somewhere you never ever been before"
Nothing is as clear
I was left down, I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down
I was left down, I was left down, I was left down

La la la la, la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la, la la la la
La la la la la la la
Very,Very,Good Job!!!
It's like a famous poet.
The song is explaining about an archangel falling to the Earth from his point of view in a tongue in cheek way.
perfeita
I'm at work trying to be quiet but my feet keeps wanting to tap the floor, this groove is more than it can restrain!
Nothing is clear.
“Who knows?”
I don't know where I am coming from,am going to.
She says that “who knows?”
I first heard this in 2013, and was amazed to find out it came out in 1996.
LOVE JAMIROQUAI !!!!!!
I fell in love with Jamiroquai last year by stumbling across Cosmic Girl in a shop. They're music is perfect for me and I can't find anything I connect with more. Kinda resonates with my soul, heh
Thanks matey, glad to be a part of it :)
The same thing happend to me in the summer of 2014 I don't know how i first found the band but it was an overwhelming experience because each song is awesome! I like time won't wait!
BEST!!!! 🌟⭐👽⭐🌟
Here's a gift for you: Hiatus Kaiyote
pretty cool thanks!
Anyone know what type of synth it is that comes in at roughly 4-5 seconds
I"m assuming it's a Moog with some sort of envelope or other filter?
Yep, It's a moog
Jamiroquai kind of reminds me of Jim Morrison. Because his music is timeless. It will never sound old. He's ahead of his time. When I listen to the Doors, it just doesn't sound like 60's music, but Beatles do. Not meaning to discredit the Beatles by any means, you can just tell they were great in the 60's. Go Jamiroquai and Jay Kay, all the band members. I don't know much about Jamiroquais history of Jay and his band family. Would love to know more, if anyone does know.
@oceantracks they are a great 60's period. I advise you do the same. Lol
@L Linton: You should not post so soon after a head injury lol
Do you really think in your dream world, that you know me?
I kinda-sorta agree about the Beatles, but we really don't know what their music would've sounded like beyond 1970. I understand what you mean though. Jamiroquai's music doesn't sound 90s or 00s or 10s; it's just timeless music. There's no expiration date on their music.
Mr. Joekzalott
There is no expiration date on great music.....
I remember when I first heard this on CD. It was a bonus track to their 96 European release.
From the very beginning to the very end, I was in constant nostalgia, seeing myself playing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on my SEGA Genesis as a young child. It was such a visceral journey.
This does sound like a dream level sequence from Sonic the Hedgehog!
I know right? ^_^
maybe ur right. my childhood was filled with sonic
and this song is an instant nostalgia trip
You're not alone.
I bought this album just from hearing Return of the SpaceCowboy, back when BET used to share real music. I ended up buying their entire catalogue within a week and this song just completely blew my mind as soon as it came on. One of the most underrated and beautiful songs ever composed.
Used to listen to this on repeat when I was 13. Still love this tune 18 years later!
Yeahbsolutely!
What are some of your other favorites?
Im 26 i heard this at 19 and forever held it close such real powerful music
@kevin the first three albums are top quality!!!!!!
Meanwhile Iggy is considered talented??? These guys are the business. This is the perfect windows down, full blast, country road, reflection tune. My all time favorite band. Jason Kay is a old soul visionary!!
Jay has a way , I'm sure of conveying what he hears the doing in his mind and having hired equally talented enterpretors/ musicians, the music is brought forth with a distinguished, particular, proprietary sound. Jamiroquai ALWAYS sounds like Jamiroquai........that is alllll!!!
Iggy?! *Scrap.* *That.* *Chick!* You know why...he & Me'Shell Ndegocello:-)!
Jay, Toby, Stu combination is absolutely irreplaceable and it was something that happened out of astronomical timing and luck, stars just got aligned. Those 3 besides being extraordinarily talented (on my opinion Toby being the most) combined on perfection.
Mr. Joekzalott Yes it's true, Jay did had instrumental control over the band. There is an interview with Zender himself testifying that Jay was the one telling musicians "do this do that" on the first albums. But he was not alone, Toby had control too, and often defined strings/brass arrangements. For example Too Young to Die is 100% Toby instrumentals over Jay singing. Jamiroquai genious period was mostly Jay Kay and Toby Smith creation, with Zender being the one who laid extraordinary basslines on top.
@Mr. Joekzalott same fam
absolutely timeless !!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Jay Key
I drove my entire building crazy with this song, lol! Full blast on repeat for hours #memories #goodtimes
how about that groovy drums
First heard this when I was stationed in Seoul Korea many a years ago. Love this jam...
Why is this not on spotify fuck
Traveling Without Moving used to be on Spotify. Not sure why it's gone. Thank God i still have the CD. Love this track.
Try looking up M-Beat on Spotify! It's how I found the song. It's not the same as this one but it's still pretty good.
Yo Kurrentz this version isn't on Apple Music either :( only the version with M-Beat rapping over it
Yes, there it is! https://open.spotify.com/track/0l6WXQJNF1Kh0quQXd3gGd
Best tune ever written ♥ Timeless!!!!!
I get melancholic when i listen to Jamiroquai. It reminds me of the 90's. Of me as a kid. However music has no expiration date so long live jamiroquai music geniuses! Why is music not like this now.
Cuddle Funk ;o))
Great song for a friday night at home! Impossible to remain motionless!!
This song is like a awesome dream or a evening with Erin Fein.
This song is like a awesome dream or a evening with Erin Fein.
This is an amazing tune from an amazing underrated band! Have loved them since I was 16 now 35 - still love them :-)
Same here, I listen Jamiroquai since I was 17 and now I'm 34. The first song I heard was "Alright". Greetings from Peru.
@EbedMashiaj almost same here , I love Jamiroquai since 17 , Im 25 . But in a post-soviet country so music came later to us
I understand that,
I feel you man, loved them since I heard them for the 1st time when I was 6 years old, Virtual Insanity in MTV, now I´m 27 and still my favorite music band of all times. And yes they are amazingly underrated
they are not underrated they are literally the unique Acid Jazz/Funk group that survives in time
To the one person who dislike this song is a HATER! Honestly... This song can take your mind to a whole new level of thinking, just by the beat alone.
Agree haha
Only people who have no real appreciation of good music would hate this! This is an amazing tune. I can remember hearing it in the summer MANY moons ago. Live it :-)
Exactly Sam
1 person didn't know where they were coming from
+Jamene...perhaps you´re a hater who can´t accept that tastes of music are different?!...
This take me waaaaay back......, WHAT A TUNEEEE!!!!
First song I heard on GrooveRadio driving down Pacific Coast Highway Malibu California..summer of 1996...AWESOME!!!
California is awesome
I know.
Takes me back to my college days! (Boy, I'm old)
