+JamieNCommons Fans Well what do you think, where he's great voice comes from? It has very much to do with the cigarette. So if you are a big fun and love his baritone, try to deal with it. Also smoking fits to his caracter and music, a part of his image. What kind of add would be more suitable? Energy drink? - Hardly :D Of course he makes a living by money and couldn't create without it, so why not to use adds in his videos?
Last but not least: I find it extremely hot when I see him smoking. So your taste (or opinion) against mine.
If he really is a hard smoker in real life and would hiding with the cigarette, that would just be hypocrite.

+Anita Csikós That's a common misconception but it's unlikely the raspiness in his singing voice has anything to do with smoking or whiskey, which he doesn't favor, unless he started as a young child. He's trained and tuned his 'instrument' exceptionally well but any professional singer will tell you that cigarettes are hard on the vocals and, eventually, breath control. Yes, we know he smokes but advertising tobacco products is tightly regulated in the US and other countries for a reason - these products, when used as directed, cause death and disease for a very high percentage of their users. Why would we want that, for Jamie or any of his fans? Google/YouTube say they don't accept cig ads so this is really just an effort by Big Tobacco to cleverly insert them into a medium viewed by teens/young adults, who are their prime target. We, along with a number of other long-time fans, saw this for what it is and called them out on it. That's all, but just fyi, Jamie's music is used for a wide variety of products - movies, tv shows, video games, cars, clothing, sports...

Well, I do smoke and I started it relatively late - almost 18 years old - and cigarette has much to do with the voice. Of course it doesn,t shape 100% on your tune, but claiming it doesn,t change anything at all is just naive and uninformed. I experinced the mutation myself, not olny raspiness, my voice became lower too.
On the other hand you are right, training is also needed to reach such a great blues sound.
However junk food is unhealthy too, I don,t think you would make a statement about it. What,s the difference? Both of them is a poison to your body, moreover we blow out the smoke don,t keep it inside, but swallow the hamburger. Would you write a comment about a junk food add? That,s unfair in my opinion. As I know, in America there are more problems with overweight, than with smoking.
Just fyi I know that Jamie,s music is used for several things including commercials (or the new Coen movie). I don,t bother seeing him smoke a cigarette it doesn,t mean I,m not a huge fan and know his work and art very well.
I know that cigarette is a bad thing (oh how I LOVE it! Although I,m not addicted. I haven,t smoke a spear for two days. I don,t smoke every day :) But I love smoking so much.) Maybe a bit overdone what is going on today about it. Adds are forbidden, in movies it,s forbidden, you see Jamie in the video and you get shocked. It,s carried too far, exaggerated.

Every cigarette affects nearly every organ in your body so exhaling smoke can't purge all the chemicals. People who find smoking attractive often feel differently after viewing slides of smoker's organs or, worse, getting a cancer/COPD diagnosis, having a child develop asthma, etc. That's a pretty high price to pay for something that won't love you back.

Eating junk food may not be a healthy choice but isn't the same as inhaling nicotine and other chemicals. What makes tobacco products unique is their universal after effects. In WHO terms, they are the only consumer products that kill people WHEN USED AS DIRECTED (sorry, caps for emphasis). 

No shock here from seeing anyone smoke anything, not sure how the comment above suggests that. The reactions we saw, and felt, after Jamie himself pointed out that blu had paid for this placement were fairly swift, spanning demographics. The objections to marketing e-cigs in music videos were clear, generally evidence-based (he actually has a loyal following of healthcare pros), and people communicated that because they love and support his music. The reality is this type of thing creates issues that are broader than any single video but that's too much to discuss in a YT comment ;) 
The comments on our social media, along with letters from fans, were also directed to his label, the manufacturer, YouTube, US FDA, and members of Congress. You may think this is an exaggerated response but please note these are all US-based orgs. There's a long, well-publicized history here with Big Tobacco's deceptive practices and being pro-active is as much a part of American life as free speech. I hope that answers your questions.
