Jamie Cullum - Blame It On My Youth Lyrics

If, I expected love, when first we kissed, blame it on my youth
If only just for you, I did exist, blame it on my youth
I believed in everything
Like a child of three
You meant more than anything
You meant all the world to me

If, you were on my mind, all night and day, blame it on my youth
If, I forgot to eat, and sleep and pray, blame it on my youth
If I cried a little bit, when first I learned the truth
Don't blame it on my heart, blame it on my youth

My dear Sveta you are in my mind

I love when young singers do jazz standards from my mother's 1930's-1940's youth. Especially when they do them well, as Jaimie does here!

Jamie, I've heard a lot of versions of this song. Yours is, well...perfect. I've listened to it many, many times and it's flawless to me. Every word; every note from the depths. Thank you.

Both his deep and high voice tone are so good

Song of the Day: 04-11-2-15; Even the strongest and most courageous spirit must have its youth, its youth and young manhood. It for a time will dangle with hoar frost between sunlight and shade, having no claim to either; not even the comfort of being middle-wedged. The agony, 'gnashing of teeth' and canker sore that festers in this period is the utter meaninglessness of this in-between. There's is no great insight fashioned from having a spirit that knows where it wants to go, that sees and its own high road, but its heart isn't strong enough for flight──it still owes too much to the past. So it has to crawl and languish and vex at the slow progress, breaking and bruising other hearts along the way. So yes, if I cried a little bit when first I learned the truth, blame it, not on that unbending spirit with its ebullient pride, but on this youth and young manhood that struggles for its own voice, and crucially, its own ears.

19-01-2019: chief, you’re going to need better rebuttals than that when you get drunk texts from the gf.

My favourite version of this song. Personally, like the phrasing as it is different to what others have done with it. Tone of voice is beautiful. Pace of song sits beautifully. Heard a few versions but this the one that stays with me.

Just watched "Me and Orsen Welles" and this was the only title in a record rack right at the beginning, I didn't know. It doesn't show the original singer's name. Does anybody know it?
