James Taylor - You Make It Easy Lyrics

Gosh almighty baby, yes, indeed. You supply the satisfy and I'll supply the need.
I can't help the way I feel though I know just where it leads,
you make it easy, yes you do, for a man to fall, for a man to fall.

Heaven knows I love my woman , just bound to fuss and fight.
Now I wind up on the barroom stool buying drinks and keeping tight.
But you know I've never done what's come in my mind tonight,
You make it easy, just sitting there looking good, for a man to fall, for a man to fall.

Now me and my wife, we've got the rest of our life
to make this thing right, but you and me will only see tonight.

So baby, won't you turn me down and point me out the door,
I'll head home and sleep it off just like every time before.
You keep on looking good my way, I won't hold out anymore,
you make it easy, you sure do make it easy, babe, for a man to fall, for a man to fall.

You don't have to make it so easy, babe, for another wise good man to fall,
You don't have to make it so easy, babe, no, no no,
for another wise good man to fall, you don't have to make it so easy, babe.

For an otherwise good man to fall. I know plus he uses the word wife earlier in the song, but no hes talking about a true love this song was explained to me by my dad who owned center stage and did all of willie nelsons shows reba, dollie parton, James Taylor, The band, countless. But he sed on a bus J.T. explained this song to him. anyway lyrics are otherwise good man to fall! :)

Thank you Tanner! I used to idolize JT until he was rude to me one night.. I was heart broken.... I went to see Livingston in Berkeley one night and James showed up. After the show I was walking with Liv to his car, carrying his guitar for him, James came up behind me, grabbed the guitar out of my hand, looked at Liv and yelled at him "LET"S GO!!" Guess he was havin a bad nite. I was blown away becuase I never in the world ever thought HE, of all people could ever be rude to ANYONE.. Anyway, would love to hear the whole story...

Got tons of pictures, it was so fascinating being a child, a young child, in the 80s and being able to run onto Willies bus while dad was runnin the show and Willie was performing. Full roam of the place! Getting lost and crying and some random nice lady (who ends up being Dolly Parton!) Takes me back to her bus till dads done workin. Countless great musicians. Got pictures of Willie, Reba, Smokey Robinson and a few others holding me as a new born. Too. Ill post em! J.T. was super introverted my father said. Anyway i want these pictures now. Lol got some just gems.

Mr McGoo you know what, my pops woukd say from time to time he wouldnt even let the band in his van, he would demand certain things from center stage to provide for him to play at that venue, but i would like to hope he was having a bad night, he struggled with heroin addiction for so many decades even after he cleaned up in the early 80s he would go back on it. the whole album but specifically the song, Mud Slide Slim, thats all about his struggle trying to beat his addiction to heroin. im so sorry your one experience wasnt a great one. My childhood hero joe montana was rude to me at a game when i was a child and i cried of course lol and my mom didnt even know who he was she was screaming at him threw her drink at him as he was walking to the locker room lol. but it was such a realization at like 10 that like wow, this hero of mine kinda sucked just now, what a dick. is the mentality u walk away with :( J.T. is a great man tho! sucks that was your experience but i hope you are still a fan of his!

This song is really about "a husband tempted to be unfaithful." See the interview with Mr. Taylor, in "Written in My Soul" by Bill Flanagan.

You might say it's a warning to stay out of dangerous situations, if a guy values his marriage, that is.
