James Taylor - Copperline Lyrics
Even the old folks never knew why they call it like they do.
I was wondering since the age of two, down on Copperline.
Copper head, copper beech, copper kettles sitting side by each.
Copper coil, cup o'Georgia peach, down on Copperline.
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek, leaning heavy on the end of the week.
One Summer night on the Copperline, slip away past supper time.
Wood smoke and new moonshine, down on Copperline.
One time I saw my daddy dance, watched him moving like a man in a trance.
He bought it back from the war in France, down onto Copperline.
Branch water and tomato wine, creosote and turpentine,
sour mash and new moon shine, down on Copperline, down on Copperline.
First kiss ever I took, like a page from a romance book,
the sky opened and the earth shook, down on Copperline, down on Copperline.
and pray for love enough to last all night, down on Copperline.
Day breaks and the boys wakes up and the dog barks and the birds sings
and the sap rises and the angels sigh, yeah.
I tried to go back, as if I could, all spec house and plywood.
Tore up and tore up good down on Copperline.
It doesn't come as a surprise to me, it doesn't touch my memory
and I'm lifting up and rising free down on over Copperline.
Half a mile down to Morgan Creek, I'm only living for the end of the week.
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake, down on Copperline, yeah, take me down on Copperline.
Oh, down on Copperline, take me down on Copperline.

It's hard to believe this guy did heroine.
Where has the music gone? We need quality songs.
qué espantoso que practicamente todos los videos de youtube esten plagados con esta propaganda de tipos hablando y dando una lata terrible con sus discursos persuasivos..deben pagar seguramente una suma de dinero muy grande a youtube para salir dando la lata en todos lados...
Beautiful
He is so crunchy it hurts my heart in a good way. And yet the guy got into that H, right?
Kicked. Twice!
@Loren Buckmiller Wow that's incredible.
The 299 people that dislike this video don’t have souls
This is an example when art goes beyond language barriers and gets to people's hearts to be grasped. Thanks for your art Mr. James Taylor!
Paul... me too ... always has ...always will
Hi, Carey McGleish. I just searched for Carolina in my Mind and noticed that either you or Youtube took it down from your page. This song especially this version that you have is the version I have gotten used too, however, it has done more than that. It is one of the only songs I can listen to that relaxes me like no other. Could you put it up or share a link in a reply to this comment so I can continue to listen to it. It would mean a lot to me. Thank you.
better than wave therapy...just a beautiful piece.
This. This is beautiful song writing.
This man is truly an inspiration and a treasure, I dunno if I could make it through even half of what he's been through.
I could've sworn in the original broadcast that after he says, "tomato wine" and before the, "...I don't know" he said "allagra". Anyone have any ideas as to: if he did, what it means and why it got cut out??
Uh... uh... do it again
I love North Carolina! .....and James Taylor.
It was his life story.
Thank you for sharing it.❤
James Taylor this reminds me of my younger days back when Mom and Dad were still living on Taylor street in Pulaski va dear sweet memories

Music just flows from the soul ....... trees, rivers, a nice meal, friends ....... it all combines as long as you let it out. I've beem to some of these memorable places ....... 'gotta love it! * Cav *
I’ve loved the clean tone of his voice since I was a kid.
The guitar is great, but it’s that incredibly smooth voice that’s just make his music so good!
One of the first songs I ever heard my dad play on guitar. He died today. I love you Dad.
seen james in pitts. 4 or5 years ago , one of my greatest memories of many .. thank you Mr. Taylor
Back home is never the same:( Go back if I could.... Miss those days. DAYS GONE BYE....

James Taylor … Making the REAL America Great Again
who's better than this guy?
Pure memories produce the purest of poetry, love.......God, is there anything...
So refreshing...
That's as close to a perfect song as you can get.
Boy can this man tell a story in a song no backing tapes no frills just good old Carolina in his mind
I was working in a dank warehouse like a mile from the interstate... 2nd job, 3rd shift, tagging clothes really mindless work, low pay... and a radio. I would hear this tune and there was this sweet girl, forgot her name, but damn...
Great song. For some reason the violin waltz section on the recording always makes me cry.
This is so damn wholesome.
One of his tenderest and most beautiful songs. I've always been a huge fan and always will be.
I love this song by James so very, very much! ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
James Taylor. My all time favorite musician. I will love and appreciate this music for the rest of my life. Now it has been passed down to my boys, and they play it all the time. Love you J T.
sweet ❣❣ 😍💓
What an amazing talent, sure can't believe he and Carly couldn't keep it together, what a duo they were!
I'm sure the boy wakes up relates to his heroin dealyboplazapalooza...thank Whoever that Sweet JT survived that decade long ordeal
Why don’t you compose a song for Boston or about Boston like you’re singing now about Carolina?
Great song. Kind of sad as we see so many sweet places in the USA get over-developed. I wonder what the encore song he sang was...
JT is the best
i got to meet james taylor a couple of years ago after his concert in vancouver bc .. i shook hands with graciousness and greatness. finally got off my ass a few years ago and learned a bunch of james taylor tunes ..hes got technique off the charts a truly great guitar player...
I don't care what current 'artist' you name - no one can touch him for crafting a beautiful song. Great lyrics, lovely music. Doesn't need 'flash', nudity, crudity. Just the song.
We liked him in the 70's and we still do today..
I've decided he is favorite musician of all time.
nothing like it, nobody like him. sounds like heaven.
im a die hard slayer fan. but this guy takes the cake i love his voice. takes me way back

Must be nice being white enjoying your culture without any racist asshole calling the asshole police to harass you for no reason...must be nice.
Quite a place (wonderful hall) for performing great music.
just a master.....thats all
i only hope he outlives me
seems we all want to go home
One of his best🌷🕊🎶
A pure treasure! Thank-you.
Well, he sure didn’t charm the Iranians, did he...
He probably went paddle boarding afterwards with the coward from Viet Nam, John Kerry.
magnifique, magnifique, toujours magnifique et si juste
The only song that will help my 4 month old song fall asleep without fail. So peaceful
Can't really imitate that, that's all him.
you cam feel the picture painted and the angels sighed
It comes straight from his heart. You can hear it ... feel it ... so good.
Y'all never gets old I'm city guy ,Chicago!! This stands the test of time!!!
sweet music, sweet voice, sweet smile and a sweet soul
And the piano player is sitting in an office chair.....
Really great!
This is the only song I really like from him. His other hits didn’t really do much for me
I love how he writes and sings according to experiences. Mexico; Sweet Baby James; Fire and Rain. All of it.
One of the best live musical performers of all time. Every live performance sounds just like the album.
NC good place to live love our country ways never wanted to be any where eles CAROLINA BLUE SKYS
My Valium
I'd be honored if some fans of James Taylor's later albums (late 80s & onward) would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of NEVER DIE YOUNG and FROZEN MAN on my YT channel in tribute to the master of lyricism and composition. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace.
Love the song! Thanks for sharing.
I GROW WITH JAMES BESIDE MY, WHAT I CAN SAY, IS PART OF MY SOUL-
Thanks, this is terrific!
Thankyou James Taylor you. I posses tender memories listening to you growing up nd now we and now toward my maturity realized what a accomplished person and songwriter musician that you are thanks Mr taylor

man that's good!!!
I would love to see James again. I wish I could bring the whole family so they would understand what good, true music is!
Great song JT!
He is my all time fave thank you James for all of your music .
Seems real fake voice and disingenuous. Probably is faking the guitar too. Never heard of Jimmy Taylors anyways.
Took me a whole minute to love this song.
The inimitable James Taylor, as Americana as Sliced Bread, Baseball, and Apple Pie!!!
Number One !!!
brings back to a love and time,i need to return to...DP...<3
such a lovely energy
From the time I first heard "Fire and Rain" at the age of fifteen I knew this was an artist who would define my taste in music from that time forward; what a gift this guy is to all of us.
I think I prefer this more stripped down version of the song.
There is one singer that has been with me through my entire life, it is James. His voice, his music surpasses all things for me. This Boston Gal transplanted to the Mountains of Ga. will be realizing a life long dream, seeing him in Concert February of this year <3 So happy I lived to see him. Pure magic, thank you James for years of Beautiful music
