James, Etta - Welcome To The Jungle Lyrics
Welcome to the jungle
We've got fun 'n' games
We got everything you want
Honey, we know the names
We are the people that can find
If you got the money, honey
We got your disease
[Chorus:]
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your
Knees, knees
I wanna watch you bleed
We take it day by day
If you want it you're gonna bleed
But it's the price you pay
And you're a very sexy girl
That's very hard to please
You can taste the bright lights
But you won't get them for free
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine
I, I wanna hear you scream
Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here everyday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me
[Chorus]
And when you're high you never
Ever want to come down, YEAH!
You know where you are
You're in the jungle baby
You're gonna die
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your
Knees, knees
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your
Knees, knees
In the jungle
Welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring you to your
It' gonna bring you down!

James, Etta Welcome To The Jungle Comments
Thanks to WERS for playing this song.
Amazing cover,great singer etta James!!!!!!
Nothing but love for the unsung soul sister, glad to see her owning this song. A song which, if I never hear the GnR version again, I'm ok with that. May she RIP. You didn't get half the R-E-S-P-E-C-T of Aretha, but you deserved it just as much.
My girlfriend played this (first time I'd heard it) one weekend at her house. Liked it straight away but when she told me who was singing you could have knocked me over with a feather.
you know what i mean lol
Lovely!
Don't compare with the guns and roses version. They lived different lives amd wrote about themselves however Etta James put a different meaning and covered it in a way that makes you think its a different song. I love both Etta James and gnr to death and I like both versions tbh.
Etta James clearly has an amazing voice, and Appetite-era GnR were incredible, but the two just don't mix in my opinion. And it seems pointless to cover a song if you're going to change the vocal melody so much that for all intents and purposes it's a different song.
NeoGee well said
buuuurn
Take a chill pill Bertha
That's sorta the point of a cover version, to reinterpret a song. What strikes me as more pointless is so many cover versions which make little to no changes to the original. Etta totally owns this, in my opinion. I love both versions, and if I'm in a hard rock mood, and wanna hear a song I'm extremely burned out on, it's GnR. If I'm in a soul mood, it's Etta. BTW, thanks for stating yours was an opinion. I respect that.
Even GNR shared this version on their FB.
