I had such a heartbreak at the time this song came out but life goes on when you're 17/18. This song puts me back to those momentary feelings. She would lie to me about smoking, I hated smoking. She died at 28 cancer & left 2 boys for social services just like her & her sister who was murdered last year. I met 1 of her sons in the oddest place, I suspected it was God thing because her 18 year old son had her look & her same expressions. She used to call me "OLD MAN" & her son called me "OLD MAN!" THAT GIVES ME THE SHIVERS like she was talking to me through him & through me to him because I knew all his relatives.

Am I the only person who knows this from Due South? I saw it as a child, and remembered this song but wasn't sure given how long had passed since hearing it. Now, last time I saw this Due South ep, I remembered this song from it, and I always envisioned, I have no idea, but I was sure it was a black guy singing? Sounds terrible haha. But aye, I randomly remembered the song again a few days ago, I have "blues kicks" every so often where I have to get that sliding/steel/smooth guitar sound and I remembered this. And I've been listening to it for days now haha

So I was listening to this in the car with my mum. I asked her to let me sit in the car to listen to it to hear the title, but she kicked me out. A year later I heard it in the car, and drove around the block just to listen to this and find out the title of this beautiful song!

This is the kind of song that makes me like television soundtracks. The only place I'd heard it up until about 2010 was in an episode of 'Due South', which I always thought was a great show. That and 'Third Watch', along with the ancient 'Second Noah' come to mind for providing the ear-candy that made me squint at the TV screen when the credits rolled. This song is fantastic. It's powerfully emotive. That's the primary, oh-so-essential ingredient lacking in formulaic music being puked out today.
