Jam, The - Pop Art Poem Lyrics
Kid walks down the street
Bumps into emptiness
Pow!
Kid looks at the sky
Looks at his watch
Zap!
Kid spies pretty girl
Walks up to her
Kisses her
On the mouth
Where else?
And all day long I was thinking
I was thinking this, that and the other
When!
So am I
I made this up as I went along
It's good innit?

Great video too!
Had this on Flexi disc!!
'It's good innit?'
I dug up my old copy the other day. I would've bought anything by the Jam back then.
@Holdenon3 You could be right but Flexipop definitely did have one on their cover. This link takes you to their archive... http://flexipop.com/covers01.html
I have this flexidisc, and I'm 99% positive I got it in an issue of Trouser Press.
shame this never appeared on sound affects - i can really see it fitting in nicely on there (somewhere on side 2)
I always used an old B.Manilow 45 to support the yellow flexidisc to prevent the stylus from jumping . . .
...but mine is yellow...and has boy about town on it as well.
yeah!!! i still got the flexidisc!!! quite possibly the magazine as well...good times!!!
@cle63 Mine is yellow and b/w "Boy About Town" and it was from Flexipop magazine. I have heard that the fan club also did one but I've never seen any evidence to back that up. The only fan club one I've got is "Tales From The Riverbank"
I have a blue Flexi-disc of this. I can't remember what magazine it came with way back when.
@scotsburd63 That's an interesting question. It was 1980 (I made a mistake and put '81 on the end of the video) and I think he had been listening to a lot of later period Beatles and some of the contemporary new wave bands at the time. Maybe he was interested in being a little bit more experimental? "Sound Affects" is quite avant-garde when compared to earlier Jam albums I suppose.
Whatever, it is a great song and thanks for tuning in!
@scotsburd63 It's a pleasure to reaquaint you with it! You can get it on the 'Extras' CD or 'Sound Affects' special edition CD - both quite cheap on Amazon.co.uk I think
