Jam, The - Mr. Clean Lyrics

Daylight dawns, you wake up and yawn - Mr. Clean
A piece of toast from the one you love most - and you leave
You catch your bus in the 8 o'clock rush,
And catch your train in the morning rain
Mr. Clean - Mr. Clean

If you see me in the street - look away
'Cause I don't ever want to catch you looking at me - Mr. Clean
'Cause I hate you and your wife
And if I get the chance I'll fuck up your life
Mr. Clean - Mr. Clean
IS THAT SEEN!

Surround yourself with dreams, of pretty young
girls, and anyone you want, but
please don't forget me or any of my kind
'cause I'll make you think again
When I stick your face in the grime

Getting pissed at the annual office do
Smart blue suit and you went to Cambridge too
You miss page 3, but the Times is right for you
And mum and dad are very proud of you
Mr. Clean - [etc.]

the telling blow is not the one that takes life, but the one that continues to land; generation after generation, with the weight of conscious sublime observational anarchy of emotional truth lived but seldom told. great song. this is not so much the surface hate promenaded, as the angst of social despair of empty meaningless hopelessness of uprooted energy in face of loss, often misconstrued as teen frustrations, that in all honesty last a life time in and of every one, but always seems strongest in the middle and lower classes. this is the little anthem played on an overturned radio as the police pick their way through the dead and dying including their own. empty threat diatribes. coughs of blood into the fist from the hemorrhaging of the soul. to be young is to be smacking the shit out of death with lip biting snarling fear. to survive one's own youth is to swallow that fear never felt in youth and stand the quiet watch from attacks on all sides and ponder it all as death reveals it has always been within, not without, and that every blow cast has fallen sullenly upon ourselves. great song.

Arrogance is its own punishment; the vast majority of people are much more generous and grateful than this...

  7. P.... P....

As a french canadian teen from montreal listening to that awsome band at that time felt alone with a great moment of mods mood

    f.... j....

Fuck me, the venom and the vitriol being spat out in pure unbridled indignation... class tune

    f.... j....

Superb song, agreed, but when Weller vented spleen (against himself) on Scrape Away on Sound Affects, the bile was a torrent.

  38. d.... ....

"...Far too many artists go largely unnoticed..."???? Surely not an accusation that could be levelled against, and indeed this song, The Jam?
I suggest less of the pat backing and perhaps slightly more obscure songs?
