Jacob Collier - Everlasting Motion Lyrics
I been wandering far away from home
Way from home, way from home [?]
Where I been going, I'll never know
Never know, never know
River flow, river flow [?]
More I think about it the less I know
Less I know, less I know
May your love
Shine through the deepest, darkest moment
May your smile
Bring light to my deepest, darkest ocean
May your love
Shine through the deepest, darkest moment
May your smile
Bring my heart everlasting motion
May your love
Shine through the deepest, darkest moment
May your smile
Bring light to my deepest, darkest ocean
May your love
Shine through the deepest, darkest moment
May your smile
Bring my heart everlasting motion
The rain rolls up and the sky fall down
I was lost to the world but now I'm found
We gonna keep on singing, I know
And we will never be, never be alone
The sun rise up and the moon falls down
We were lost to the world but now we're found
And if we keep on singing, I know
That we could keep this motion rolling on and on, on, on, on
I been wandering far away from home
Where I been going, I'll never know, know
The sky up above make the river flow
More I think about it the less I seem to know
I been wandering far away from home
Where I been going, I'll never know, know
The sky up above make the river flow
More I think about it the less I seem to know
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah

Jacob Collier Everlasting Motion Comments
Laafou bro
"Gnawa" music can be found in my hometown which is Morocco. Hamid El Kasri is a Moroccan "Gnawi" and he is well known all around Morocco. I just cannot believe that Jacob had the guts to explore this music genre. This just shows how Jacob is limitless, purely talented and brilliant. He turned a music that is already amazing to something even more intriguing, this piece is amazing !!!
I'm surprised man thats unbelievable !!!
By the way Im Moroccan too :)
Love this! 🥁🔄🥚☯️ Perfect for train journeys :-)
That Outro is everything ❤️😱
Less is More. Said absolutely nobody involved in this production.
“En het voelde goed”
Try a listen at 1.25x
As a long-time Gnawa listener, I find this very hard to listen to. I love Collier's work and Metropol Orkest, but for a succesful fusion, maybe next time give a Moroccan or North African arranger the job to create a more organic fusion.
Wait for 4.06-4.45. Appreciate it. Know that you are listening to the background score to my imaginary life.
Gnawaaaaaaaaaaaaaa vibes! So doooooope!
4:05 ... :o
4:04 does genre exist? Gospel combined with funk(?) combined with Gnawa/Moroccan Islamic spirituals?? Yo.
I am as amazed as you are ! I'm Moroccan and I really like Jacob's music. Hearing Hamid's gnawa style music mixed with Jacob's perspective on this genre is truly a blessing to the human ear.
i find it kinda stevie wonder esc.
the jazzy trumpets and singing part of it. the percussion is much more 'world' stuff.
Hey, does anyone know the sort of groove that's used here? I forget if there is a link to somewhere where he talks about it, but I'm talking about the asymmetric triplet groove that goes under most of the song.
Check out the video by David Bruce composer about strange rythms
Holy shit I love quintuplets.
The harmonies at 3:10 were great 👍
I thought I'd heard some amazing, sophisticated music from Jacob, but stumbling on this cut, I'm speechless. Never thought a collaboration with African/Arabic music would work, but it's brilliant, in my opinion.
5:45 jacob ngerap
Each time you play one song, you will see the new in the old. Like Rick said, always play new things
Hey June Lee, stop right now the transcribing work. It is stupid. Play the instru!!!! Not analyse the music!!!!! Come on,
Woolly mammoths
WOW! WOW! WOW! When I first heard this on the Proms audio I wanted to jump to my feet and applaud too! SO funky! So DE-LICIOUS! And now here in "full color" - Wonderful!
Absolutely stunning.
I get what’s he’s doing but he’s shit at it
which means you actually don't get what he is doing
Does anyone know the translation of Hamid’s parts from Arabic into English? :)
It's a morrocan dialect ..
We come to peace , and hope god help us
We ask God , to be brothers
All my wishes is that , and may God bless us ...
this is the coolest thing. can't stop listening to this. <3<3<#
What even is that drum rhythym, most legendary thing I've ever heard
Allahu loves this song
This is my favorite song right now.
Great maalam hamid el kasri
Overwhelming Emotion
love it! Karim Ziad influence it sounds like. Awesome!
Not Jacob ... 😥
This.. cant be right. A triplet based 13 groove?!
Quintuplet 6/8 I think
Loving this groove!
Absolutely crazy.
So much love from Morocco <3
2:03 more thigb!
im so fucked up over the fact that the acoustic section is in 5
MAN THIS SONG IN HEADPHONES.
I think so much of this music is so incredible...I’d love for Jacob to prank everyone by making a song in 4/4 with the classic 4 chords then just when everyone thinks he’s sold out he puts in the filthiest microtonal chord to finish. Prank Patrol.
you can subdivide the entire song in 5/8. Check 3:11
That later transitions into a *really* fast 6/8. Check 4:11
There's a lot of depth.
I think that l there are some brief 7/4 sections t
I am viewer 7777 , boom this is hot
My favorite of the album!
so cool!
Someone explain the time signature on this one, please!
EDIT OK my first question was after listening to only the first minute or two of the song. I since realized that it changes throughout the song 😆🤣. But a breakdown of the time signature would still be great!
I recommend watching his take on the gnaoua/gnawa rhythmic structure in his 2nd interview with June Lee (groove and subdivision) and the David Bruce video on microrhythm.
Dat 5:30 reharm
holy crap
Okay. You've got my attention.
6:28 somebody enjoyed that.
YOU UPLOADED YOUR ENTIRE ALBUM?!?!?!?!
YOU MADMAN YOU....
Can anyone explain the June Lee jokes? 🐵
Lyn Verduyn Lunel look up June Lee’s YouTube channel. He transcribes Jacobs music note for note, by ear. They are both geniuses.
@revenant235 will do, thanks! 😁
Do you have written lyrics to any of your songs anywhere?
The rhythm sounds like a Cumbia from Argentina
Interesting! The real influence is Moroccan Gnawa. Cool to see how opposite cultures can develope similarities, meanwhile America still claps on 1 & 3.
Jajajaja, posta! Preciosa poliritmia.
Jacob, there's a sound glitch in 1:04, another in 1:26, etc. The sound gets cut off briefly. Maybe you wanna reupload? This is wonderful as always, thanks.
There is like 700 tracks you can't exactly blame his computer
Maybe he intentionally left them in to troll people that rip the vid off youtube ;)
1:30 ‘she took the weenie’ i cant unhear it
hahahaha! he says "jitek daawini" which means in Moroccan darija "I came to you, heal me"
It's been nearly a year..please free me from this course please
alberto mair yes! I literally can’t unhear this every time I listen to this song now lol ... oh well :D
Hilarious ahahah!
If only I could not speak the "Darija" dialect then I would've heard it the same way !
However, "Jitek dawini" means : "I came to you, heal me (probably referring to God)"
She took the weenie, healed her eventually. HHHH
I can't figure out the time signature(s?) and it's making my brain very confused and happy at the same time
GGuzzler 4/4 but wonky as fucc
@mensamin lmao nah try again
Kamal Harrison yeah, actually are quintuplets into a bar of 4/4... 5/4/4 “5” being just the subdivision
Late to the convo. The are parts I hear as 13 broken out as 3-3-3-3-1 (4 triplets followed by a one beat).
The lack of censorship in Jacob’s Music is what I most appreciate.
He understands that all frequencies get along with each other...it’s just a matter of finding the best way of organizing them and giving their space to shine.
In the end, it’s just like Peace on this Planet.
Harmony is possible, if We’re just willing to cooperate with one another.
It is possible, but only if everyone is willing. Unfortunately that's very unlikely.
It depends on how we value and treat our children. Parental love is one of the, if not the single most important foundation of Jacob‘s enchanting humanity.
Bro, you and your beautiful thoughts be blessed for all eternities.
i wish there was more gnawa fusion music
Sounds like there is a little stevie wonder influence toward the 4 minute mark
I'm just so calm happy right now. Jacob, I really appreciate this album, man. Listening to this is making my day better.
This compression is hurtful
what you mean? on the master bus?
And don't know exactly why, but this makes me want to have Jacob do something with Tigran Hamasyan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7j7bdEPSd0).
But knowing Jacob, there is probably already something on the album, because this albums seems to make all my dreams come true... :P
Does anyone know the english translation for this piece?
It is Moroccan dialect, I think it goes like this :
We come asking for peace, may god helps us
We ask of god and angels that we become brothers
Ô god, may he take care of us,
We came asking god to cure us.
@mohamed rachidi
Thank you!!(:
My brain can not absorb so many frequencies at once. This is something to be heard and studied for a lifetime ...
Why is there a fucking dislike ? What the acual fuck?
5:03 that chord there IS LIKE SLAPING THE PIANO
From 4:07 to the end KEEPS GETTING BETTER . FUCKING AMAZING I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY.
Hamid El Kasri!! Killing it on this track!!
His vocals absolutely rock. Is that stringed instrument from Mali? Sounds familiar.
@Michael Alderete its called a gambri.. Its used mainly in northern africa and some countries in africa in genres like gnawa
Jacob Collier on Gnawi Fusion , I am ecstatic :D hope next collaboration with Karim Ziad ♥
Fooort !!! Heyla
yeaaah <3 <3 Magic song <3 <3 stunning <3
Ou bien Aziz Sahmaoui
Ou bien mehdi nassouli
My current fave on the new album
5:45 Woweeewe
i watched this video in 4k! Totally worth it! you guys should try too!
Woke up to the notification of Djesse Vol. 1 being fully released; I kid you not, I took a minute to prepare myself emotionally.
At 1:27 there is small mistake with back voices starting
Ok, seems I've found the song for my next 24 hours. My dear Jacob I've to admit it, BRAVO! You are a true inspiration to all the musicians around the world bringing so many colors within you music. Thanks and please, give us more!!
Same feeling here!
Is this my favourite? Its up there with djesse. I really love this! The production on this whole album is out of this world!!
I just feel like this is so ahead of its time... This is how music should have progressed a long time ago... if it wasn't for the oppressive state of modern music within the industry... Jacob, please never sumbit to the industry. Never sell your soul to them. Just keep being yourself! Let the madness in ur mind spill out XD Yahweh bless you in your life journey!
Jacob seems to have a clean soul, no doubt.
I wouldn't worry about that. As the friend said on the other comment, "Jacob seems to have a clean soul", and I pretty sure that either him and the "industry" understood that and they don't wanna screw up his magic!
He will make history!
Yeah, the Music Industry! Jacob is showing the Business, and many top artists, how it's done, but I'm not sure they're listening. Those bill counting machines make so darn much noise!
4:46 where he moves from the percussive 5 subdivision into a 4/4 again... holy fuck, a whole world casually shifting
04:16 my boy said SAANGGIN good lORD
Please teach us.
ashuashuashas we don't deserve it! kkkkk
Yes please
This put a nasty expression on my face from the first second on! That's how I know good music when I hear it for the first time. Love you, Jacob!
One of my favorite songs by jacob
sooo many videos to like before even listening ahahahahahahahhaha <<>>>
sooo many comments to like before reading!
@Musician Paradise hhahaha touche
I just discovered you, you’re a god
Have fun going back thru his journey!
God Job ! :)
I'm commenting before Aimee Nolte and Adam Neely am i cool now
srsly, what more annoying, along with all the june lee comments
@peter g Your comment.
@peter g And your spelling of the word seriously.
I don't know who either of those two people are that you mentioned so I will say yes. Yes you are. =-)
Love the Eastern/Western fusion here! Arguably as good as the live version!!
Eric Hendrix More like Northern/Southern, isn‘t it?
I’m referring to a fusion of Western (European classical or jazz) music and more traditional music from non-Western countries (here, the Middle East)
@Eric Hendrix it's not thé middle east it's more north africa
mona mokhliss Oh! Egypt right? My b
@Eric Hendrix not Égypte ..morocco , no worries !
Based on the sound of this video through my Neutrino speakers on my desktop, this will be a very rewarding album on my Emotiva/Marantz/Aragon/Thiel audiophile system. I'm glad Jacob uses the Kii Three speakers so he can hear everything he's putting into the recording, just as we can strive to do the same.
u know what they say about audiophile system
@Baptiste Guilbaud That they are wonderful.
rorybz sure lol but wonderfully overpriced
@Baptiste Guilbaud Well, that's part of the wonder. It helps to buy equipment second-hand; nothing in my system cost more than $1000.
Sounds great!!
Definitely, this album must be listened with a good DAC, dedicated amp and so specials headphones. It is audiophile category.
Listening through my Benchmark DAC on ATCs
But you listen to it from youtube
@MrSelfietje good point
@MrSelfietje An audiophile would know that I am referring to the quality of mixing and recording that these works have. When it's ready to flac version, I buy it!
Listening to this through my HD600 at home and my Etys ER3XR when on the bus totally mind blowing
Yes! This is what I need in my life!
dude I love the speed up into half time haha amazing
0:00 : wonk
2:45 : w o n k
4:07 : *M E G A W O N K*
What does wonk means? I can't translate it on google :(
@Calexito it means kind of off-kilter or off-balance. Also can mean "strange" or "weird". Something is wonky if it's those things: off-kilter, strange, weird. In this case, it's purposeful wonk, so it's not off-kilter in a negative way, or you could even argue it's just not off-kilter at all, more like it's intentionally lopsided.
Do you mean you think there is something wrong in these changes? This song doesn't sound right to me. It's a shame because I love the rest of this album
some sort of tuplet swing i think. my guess is septuplet (yes im late)
w o n k
June Lee checks his phone, sees the notifications. The time has finally come. He sighs.
It's going to be one of THOSE months.
OMG I was waiting for this one since BBC Proms!!!!!
I heard this on the bbc proms and I’m so glad it finally came out. This one’s my favorite.
Groovyyyy
I love the consistent releases!
