Jackson Browne - Walking Slow Lyrics

Walking slow down the avenue
Through my old neighborhood
Don't know why I'm happy
I've got no reason to feel this good
Maybe it's because I'm all alone
And I've got no place to go
And everywhere I look I see
Another person I'll never know

I got a thing or two to say
Before I walk on by
I'm feeling good today
But if die a little farther along
I'm trusting everyone to carry on

Pretty little girl...
Running up and down the street with no shoes on
I got a pretty little girl of my own at home
Sometimes we forget we love each other
And we fight for no reason
I don't know what I'll do if she ever leaves me alone

I got a thing or two to say
Before I walk on by
I'm feelin' good today
But if I die a little farther along
I'm trustin' everyone to carry on

I'm puttin' down my left foot
I'm puttin' down my right foot

I got a thing or two to say
Before I walk on by
I'm feelin' good today
But if I die a little father along
I'm trusting everyone to carry on

    David Lindley

    T.... J....

+That's David Lindley on the guitar. Doug Haywood is playing bass and singing the harmony, Jai Winding is playing piano, Larry Zack is playing drums, and (according to the album's liner notes), Fritz Richmond is playing the jug (I can actually hear the sound of a jug throughout the song).

I have a story about this song. We were Colorado kids, and a friend on the ski bus in junior high had been given this 45 by a DJ at the ski area. (I believe the record even had "For radio play only" stamped on it.) For some reason he didn't want it, and gave it to me on the return trip. I took it home, played it on my turntable and have loved it ever since! Never heard on the radio, and I probably wouldn't ever have known of it to this day if my friend hadn't handed it to me on that ski bus that day! Thanks, John!

I found out Tuesday afternoon, 30 OCT 2018, that the "street" I'd been led to believe is called Pride Way, Bedford MA 01730, by the USPS, was once called, and has been referred to by the "U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Asset Enterprise Management" as "Avenue "E"" - perhaps since the establishment of the Bedford VA Medical Center, now known as the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital! A GREAT AMERICAN location for slow walking and slow talking, particularly in the Northeast Wooded Areas!!!

Now, I need to find out where "Avenue "A"" was declared to exist!

    Richard Somers ?whatever?
