Jackson 5 - Ain't That Peculiar Lyrics

Honey you do me wrong but still I'm crazy about you
Stay away too long and I can't do without you
Every chance you get you seem to hurt me more and more
But each hurt makes my love stronger than before
I know flowers go through rain
But how can love go through pain

Ain't that peculiar
A peculiar ality
Ain't that peculiar baby
Peculiar as can be

You tell me lies that should be obvious to me
I've been so much in love with you baby til I don't wanna see
That things you do and say are designed to make me blue
It's a dog gone shame my love for you makes all
Your lies seem true
But if the truth makes love last longer
Why do lies make my love stronger

Ain't that peculiar
A peculiar ality
Ain't that peculiar baby
Peculiar as can be

I cried so much just like a child thats lost its home
Maybe baby you think these tears I cry are tears of joy
A child can cry so much until you do everything they say
But unlike a child my tears don't help me to get my way
I know love can last through years
But how can love last through tears

Ain't that peculiar
A peculiar ality
Ain't that peculiar baby
Peculiar as can be

Jackson 5 Ain't That Peculiar Comments

Does anyone know of any other songs where they sing true 4 or 5 part harmonies like they did here?? Usually they only do 3

  2. Darnett McManus

Jermaine has the most darling voice. The Jacksons sure know how to harmonize. Rest in peace Michael Jackson.

  3. Foster Mac

Intro sounds like bass playing guitar licks for song "Clean_Up Woman". Anyway Jermaine kills vocals on this one. Has Marvin's stylings in verses. Tito,'s got that wah-wah pedal working. Michael and Jackie on harmony. No match. Jermaine's bass, Randy's percussion. Wow.

    Matt Write

Foster Mac im finally realizing that he did have a Marvin Gaye style of singing.

@Matt Write In retrospect, Motown would be well advised to pair Jermaine with Leon Ware (who worked with Marvin on the 'I Want You' album), for the melodic stuff, and then maybe Frank Wilson (of Keep on Trucking fame), for the up tempo stuff. Give it a late disco, early funk twist and see what happens. Jermaine has 3 distinct voices as well as a good falsetto much like Marvin had. Oh well, maybe in my next life I;ll produce him, lol.

    Jon Elder

And Marlon singing the bottom note in the harmony, under Mike and Jackie.
