Iwan Rheon - Rhodd Lyrics

Yn y pridd
Mae ein hadau ni
Ga ni weld nhw'n tyfu
I mewn i rywbeth gwell

Ger y llyn
Yn eu dyfnder hi
Rhwydo gwres y dŵr
Yn hel atgofion

Mae'r ffordd yn hir
Ond, ambell waith
Gall rhodd
Gael ei ollwng
Ar dy draed

Amser hir
Ers i ni weld nhw
Licris ar fy llw
'Naeth i fi deimlo'n sâl

Ar y dde
Roedd y tannau'n wyn
A dy wyneb di'n lun
O fod yn rywbeth gwell

Mae'r ffordd yn hir
Ond, ambell waith
Gall rhodd
Gael ei ollwng
Ar dy draed

Yn y pridd
Mae'n cyndadau ni, ei'n tadau ni
Be 'allwn ni ddysgu
I fod yn rywbeth gwell

Bob dydd
Mae nhw'n newid ni
Dŵr ar wefusau sych
Sy' byth yn ildio

Mae'r ffordd yn hir
Ond, nid oes bai
Dyma rodd
Ar fodiau dy draed

  3. Winging It

  4. Daniela Rodi

2019 Anyone? great album, beautiful song :) Diolch yn fawr Iwan

  5. RDD- RedDeadDepression

I think welsh was the main inspiration for sapkowski's witcher elfic language. It is very similar. I would guess its welsh with some latin grammar and pronunciation. A very good song, and the language is gorgeous

  6. FuochiNellaNotte

I love your voice and the way you play guitar. And I love this song: it's so moving!
I really love your music: in these days I'm listening to it again and again, it's like a drug to me.
    What a wonderful discovery!

  7. Carole Fournier

    Yn y pridd
    Dans le sol
Mae ein hadau ni, hadau ni, hadau ni
    Les graines que nous semons
    Ga ni weld nhw'n tyfu
    Pourrons-nous les voir grandir
    I mewn i rywbeth gwell
    En quelque chose de mieux

    Ger y llyn
    Dans le lac
Yn eu dyfnder hi, dyfnder hi, dyfnder hi
    Dans sa profondeur
    Rhwydo gwres y dŵr
    L'eau chauffée
    Yn hel atgofion
    Nous rappelle nos souvenirs

    Mae'r ffordd yn hir
    La longue route
    Ond, ambell waith
    Il arrive parfois
    Gall rhodd
    Qu'un cadeau
    Gael ei ollwng
    Qui y ait été abandonné
    Ar dy draed
    S'élève

    Amser hir
    Depuis longtemps
Ers i ni weld nhw, ni weld nhw, ni weld nhw
    Depuis que nous les voyons
    Licris ar fy llw
    La réglisse sur mon serment
    'Naeth i fi deimlo'n sâl
    M'a rendu malade

    Ar y dde
    Droites
    Roedd y tannau'n wyn, tannau'n wyn, tannau'n wyn
    Les cordes blanches
    A dy wyneb di'n lun
    Une photo de ta peau
    O fod yn rywbeth gwell
    De quelque chose de meilleur

    Mae'r ffordd yn hir
    La longue route
    Ond, ambell waith
    Mais, il arrive parfois
    Gall rhodd
    Qu'un cadeau
    Gael ei ollwng
    Qui y ait été abandonné
    Ar dy draed
    S'élève

    Ah ah, aaah, aaah
    Ah ah, aaah, aaah
Ah ah, ah ah ah, ah, ah ah ah

    Yn y pridd
    Dans le sol
Mae'n cyndadau ni, ei'n tadau ni, ei'n tadau ni
Nos ancêtres, ceux de nos pères
    Be 'allwn ni ddysgu
    Que pouvons-nous apprendre
    I fod yn rywbeth gwell
    Pour devenir meilleur

    Bob dydd
    Chaque jour
Mae nhw'n newid ni, newid ni, newid ni
    Ils nous ont changés
    Dŵr ar wefusau sych
    L'eau sur leurs lèvres sèches
    Sy' byth yn ildio
    Ils ne renoncerons jamais

    Mae'r ffordd yn hir

Mais, il n'y a aucun reproche
    Dyma rodd
    Voici le cadeau
    Ar fodiau dy draed
    Montez sur les pouces

  8. E T

I'm really proud that I understand this! My dad refuses to teach me Welsh (even though I am Welsh and so is my entire family) so I took it into my own hands, and now I understand this word for word!

  9. Xeroquelle

    Iwan is gifted.

  10. Maureen Juarez

This is beautiful! Wish I understood Welsh so I knew what was being sung. The Rheon brothers sing so well.

  11. Jsjs Bsbs

I don't understand but I love the song! You are so talented Iwan and Aled

  12. Aysel Gafarova

    I don't understand anything but love it😍

Can someone explain the lyrics to me please ? Thank you all.

    LD Shelley

Search YouTube for "Rhodd - Iwan Rheon [Lyrics Welsh & English]" posted by Jack Giddens. It's got both the Welsh words and a translation.

    Reek It rhymes with weak

    LD Shelley Thanks !

  15. Reek It rhymes with weak

I can't understand anything but that's one of the most beautiful thing I've ever heard...

  16. Cedric Bendjebara

It's an amazing song. Singing in Welsh, given a touch of sensitivity.

  17. SuRaKaSoErX

It's honestly such a good song even if you can't understand it, I speak English, Spanish, Mayan Yucatec and Portuguese and this is the most beautiful song. I need to learn Welsh.

  18. SuRaKaSoErX

    Learning Welsh now

  19. Ana Chalimar

Your music is literally healing my soul ... Thank you so much for everything

  20. shidorikuroko

Possibly the most beautiful language on earth. <3

    Zoe K.

Tolkien, who was an Oxford professor of comparative linguistics, thought the same. And so do I.

  21. Larysa Yanushchyk

Oh, so amazing song. I love you, Iwan)))

  22. Juan Manuel Fabres Briones

Can anybody tells me what the lyrics say?

    Lewis

    In the earth
    are our seeds
    We can see them growing

    Into something better

    By the lake
    In its depths
Catching the warmth of the water
    Seeking memories

    The road is long
    But sometimes
    A gift
    can be poured
    on your feet

    A long time
    since we saw them
    Liquorice, I swear,
    Made me feel ill

    On the left
    the waves were white
And your face was a picture
    of being something better

    The road is long
    But sometimes
    A gift
    can be poured
    on your feet

    In the earth
    Are our forefathers and fathers
    What can we learn
    to make us something better

    Every day
    they change us
    Water on dry lips
    That never give up

    The road is long
    But, there's no blame
    Take this gift
    On your toes.

    Juan Manuel Fabres Briones

    Thank you so much Lewis!
I am sorry I just saw your answer
It is a beautiful music. I was really looking forward to knowing what the lyrics say.

    Lewis

Juan Manuel Fabres Briones you're welcome, sorry I'm 6 months late, I must have missed your comment XD

  23. Alice Diamond

    beautiful

  24. isensmith

listening to this has really made me realize how much tolkien's elvish sounds just like welsh

    Lewis

  28. Ann Gatita

  30. Lucrezia Marafante

This is beutiful, he's so talented!!

  31. Chamathke Perera

Constantly conflicted when listening to Rheon, the character he played is a world apart from the type of music he creates.

    Marieke

    Chamathke Perera watch misfits !

  32. Eighteen Rabbit

Alright, I admit: I left this playing after I started it just because I was impressed with Iwan Rheon's portrayal of Ramsay in GOT. I listened to a couple of his other tunes and this was next. After about thirty seconds I was inspired to get up from what I was doing and type this: Fucking great song dude, keep it up. This is a good song. Keep writing tunes like this and I might not have fucking nightmares about you anymore, lol ;)

    Lewis

haha I felt the same way. He's a great actor but I love his music much more

  33. Andria Workman

it's been over a year now since I first listened to this album, and it has really helped me through a tough time. a lot. thank you from the bottom of my heart Mr.Rheon, your beautiful music is a sweet savior. I'll keep listening until I go deaf 💗

  42. chansumyi04

Wow it's really amazing~ can keep it repeated all day long :)

  43. Sabrina Echeløn

    This is amazing.

  44. Ashlii Prigmore

Rhodd means gift in Welsh. I can speak a decent amount of Welsh, but it's my second language so I can't tell you what the entire song's lyrics are.

  45. Martina Ferrari

I searched for the meaning of this welsh song and I found two things: Iwan can put words together in a way that warms your heart and that the welsh language is very close to what I think magic is.

  46. lunaei

i love this song so much

  47. Carwyn Stephen

Do ni'm yn gwybod bod chdi'n medru siarad Cymraeg Iwan! Ardderchog!

  48. Florencia Albornoz

    Hermoso ♥

  49. Kristen Metzgar

I wish I could speak this so I could sing along. It is so beautiful.

Can anyone drop a phonetic version of the lyrics?

    Lewis

+Kristen Metzgar If this is any help, dd is a voiced th sound like in the word "that" or "the". Ch is hard to explain, kind of like clearing your throat, but a softer sound. R is rolled or tapped. Rh is the same but unvoiced. Ll is a sound not found it english at all, kind of hard to explain. Hope this helps :)

    Kristen Metzgar

THat helps a bit more. I am definitely getting it a bit more. It helps to just keep listening to it and following along with lyrics too.

    Tenebris 12

do you know how oyu pronouce w? i also get stuck when it comes to words like - dyfnder hi or nhw'n

    Lewis

w on it's own is pronounced like the 'oo' 'good'. Ŵ with a ^ is pronounced like the 'oo' in 'boot'. There are some exceptions but most of the time it's like that.

    Winging It

You'll just have to learn how to say each word until you can sing the lyrics.

  50. Sabrina Arcella

I'm really into this song. While I listen to it, I feel calm and peaceful.
Kudos, Iwan. You're a great artist, and your music is wonderful.

  51. Anatomical And Metaphysical

    Beautiful song. 💕

  52. Patryk Rogóż

Pleas, write more songs in Welsh :3

  53. Maarten Reyniers

Wow, is he singin' in Welsh?

    Lewis

    Yes he is

    Sarah RbnXP

    In the soil
    Our seed us,
    Can we see them grow
    Into something better

    By the lake
    She is their depth
    Netting heat the water
    Recalls

    The road is long
    But, sometimes,
    A gift
    Is dropped
    Get up

    long time
    Since we see them
    Liquorice on my oath
    'It made me feel sick

    The right
    The strings white
    And your face'll picture
    From being something better.

    The road is long
    But, sometimes,
    A gift
    Is dropped
    Get up

    In the soil
It forebears us, did their bit fathers.
    What can we learn
    To be something better

    Every day
    They change us,
    Water on dry lips.
    That never surrender.

    The road is long
    But, there is no blame

    Maarten Reyniers

It's the same when people hear our traditional folk songs in Flemish, they don't understand it but I'm surprised how they tend to take a liking to it. I guess music is universal.

  54. Shandra DeWitt

and to hear what origin tongues sounds like...beautiful.

  55. Shandra DeWitt

his music so refreshing. I'm not sure what genre he classifies as, but his music is beautiful. it's nice that he's not blind and desides to reveal to a point what goes on. I simply love him.

  56. Sourav Maji

Iwan, you are very talented. God bless you.

    paaatryk olo

    wow, incredible mustage

  57. Colin Murphy

If it hasn't already been done. Can someone translate this to English accurately? I want to know what it means. Or Iwan should do a cover in English.

  75. beginning human

This song finally got me to start learning Welsh. Thanks Iwan & Aled :)

    Kishibe Rohan

@beginning human I'm not fluent in welsh, sorry. I've been studying it for a year and a half, and it's so complex. I can understand about 50% of what's he's saying.

    beginning human

@Fernando Batista oh neat! What are you using to learn?

    Kishibe Rohan

@beginning human I used SaySomethingInWelsh for a while, then had a teacher. I was living in Cardiff, so it was fairly easy to find one.

    Sydney Snow

+Fernando Batista Is SaySomethingInWelsh accurate? That's what I'm using to learn!

    Kishibe Rohan

@Sydney Snow I used the Southern version. It's pretty good. It shows you both the 'standart' welsh and the regional welsh you'd hear people say on the street. Besides the small vocabulary (I used to read the dictionary after listening), it's by far the best course you can find online.
