Ives, Burl - Funny Way Of Laughin' Lyrics

It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
Your leavin' didn't bother me
It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
I'm really happy as can be

If you see me with a great big smile
At some party where the fun runs wild
If tears start to flow and I fall apart
Please don't think you broke my heart

It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
Your leavin' didn't bother me
It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
I'm really happy as can be

If we meet on the street
And a little bitta tear rolls down my cheek
Please don't think it's because I'm blue
Or that I'm still in love with you

It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
Your leavin' didn't bother me
It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
I'm really happy as can be

Remember the day you left our place
And how the tears rolled down my face
It wasn't because you were leavin' me
I was happy because you were pleasing me

It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
Your leavin' didn't bother me
It's just my funny way of laughin'
Yes, my funny way of laughin'
I'm really happy as can be

Funny way of laughin', laughin'
Funny way of laughin', laughin'
Funny way of laughin', laughin'

I'm a baby boomer and i was ween on music before my time! I love rock and roll but i like the easy going gnarly voice of Burl Ives.....Perry Como, Andy Williams, Bing Crosby..need i say more???? Todays young generation have these so called Divas that scream like banshees out in the African continent! That low boomy rap hurts my head! That shit oughta be illegal in public.....

    Karen Strock

You, are sooooo. Right. Love your comment. You want to here some more good voices of the past ,try John Gary, Dean Martin ,Vic Damone Jim Nabors ,Roy Orbison Slim Whitman, These guys are all different types of music. Weather you like them or not they have good voices, with real music.

Just heard this recently at a '50's diner. What a great tune~

  20. Sonny Dave

Country, Folk, Pop, Burl Ives could do it all. His version of Hank Cochran's "Little Bitty Tear Let Me Down" is the best.".

Yes he was great in Cat on a hot tin roof. Just saw that last week . On Turner Classic Movies. Have seen it at least five times. Would watch it again tomorrow if it was on . The dialogue is great ",those no neck children". and mendacity,, Big Daddy!!!! A time when you could watch a movie with out filth, and follow a real story . writer Tennessee. Williams.....

  26. Fritz Ant

Thank you for sharing, I hadn't heard Burl Ives in years, when I was a kid my mom would often play one of his records.

  27. 6672rock

Probably my favorite of all of Burl's non-Christmas tunes.  I'll bet if some country or pop star covered this tune today, they'd have a smash hit on their hands.

    leonard wilson sr

It was a smash hit for Mr Ives

    Karen Strock

No way , they would have to make it their own. No one can meet Burl's standard,Sorry......
