Personally I'm primarily a rock and metal person, though I dabble in other genres. And when it comes to country only really older country appeals to me. But this right here is a beautiful song and he's a new favorite artist added to the list.

Morgans version is good, but its Isbell's song. Isbell's words, Isbell's feelings, and Isbell's life in a song. A story of his battle to become sober. A love letter to his wife. That's why in my eyes his version is the best. Every word is a portrait of his life. Isbell will go down as one of the greatest songwriters of this era.

I am more or less forced to watch the Voice with my wife each week and I usually don't pay attention and fall asleep. I almost fell out of my chair last night when the Voice contestant, Jake Hoot, sang this song. Probably the best song ever selected by an artist on that show.

I agree--I was familiar with Jason Isbell, but I had not heard this particular song. It is a stunning song. I thought Jake Hoot did a great rendition of it.

It's an amazing song for sure, but I think my all time favorite song from the Voice was when Allisin Porter sang "Blue Bayou", still gives me chills.

I'm glad to see him finally being recognized as the great performer and song writer his truly is. Songs like this can only come from a place within that many of us wouldn't survive.
