Iron Maiden - Sun And Steel Lyrics
Well, you killed your first man at 13
Killer instinct, Animal supreme
By 16 you had learned to fight
The way of the warrior, you took it as your right
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Through earth and water, fire and wind
You came at last - nothing was the end
Make a cut by fire and stones
In two - break you both in two
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel rolling on and on
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
Sunlight, falling on your steel
Death in life is your ideal
Life is like a wheel
And it's rolling still

Iron Maiden Sun And Steel Comments
Jackass
This really should have been a hit.. better than Flight of Icarus I think
This should be the theme for Sekiro
It seems Steve Harris is a voracious reader...much of his songs are based on epic novels, poems and history. Their lyrics and the music never disappoints.
why so i feel like i can fight off ninjas while listening to this
I really dont like Maiden, but this track has the most powerful chorus
Great opening lyric you killed your first man at 13
Bruce's vocals are amazing on this track!!!
Best brand of all time, nothing more to say about them
you mean band
sunlight falling on your steel ..........life is like a wheel....and its rolling steel!
maybe this song should be called "sunlight, falling on your steel steel" because this is what bruce is saying in the chorus.
So The Trooper should be called Woooooooo ooo o o, because he says Woooooooo ooo o o in the chorus? I don't get your point.
This is my 3rd favorite album by Iron Maiden & this song is probably my favorite one from this album & it's the song that ALWAYS sticks in my head & it sticks & sticks & sticks & sticks.......well you get the picture.
they better start to perform these great songs.....up the irons!
This song, especially the part before the solo, sounds very... bold.
Take you and your blade....break ya both in two! With Steve Harris bass

Sun and Steel, flight of Icarus.... Yukio Mishima?
What does Yukio Mishima have something to do with this song?
@筑前守 the title and the meaning. The idea of force and of death. "Sunlight, falling on your steel,
Death in life is your ideal"
Life is like a wheel. Conan The Barbarian
From "Piece Of Mind" 👹
Always dug the harmonies to Sun And Steel...and Steve's bass shreds✊
Iron maiden had reached their prime. And they were one of the best live bands at the time which almost sounded like studio.
Best maiden song ever🤘
This song is so underrated. It's way better than some of their famous songs
It was the precursor to Run to the Hills and every bit as good.
Ben Percy i thought run to the hills came out a year before?
Well yes, of course. I have my timeline mixed up. Ignore my stupidity! Still, wicked tune and yes very underrated.
its 10000 times better than wasted years
@La ra You blasphemer!!! LOL!!!... Wasted Years and its video are awesome. Still, Sun and Steel is a great and underrated tune.
666th like.

As I listened to this song a thought came to me: What would it sound like if it was sung by Paul Dianno? Not knowing the answer may torment me, just a little.

Life is like a wheel sounds like something Dio would say
Dio was Also Awesome
"They say that life's a carousel,
spinning fast you gotta ride it well."
"I'm a wheel, I'm a wheel,
I can roll I can feel"
"Truth is just a circle, spinning 'round 'till it's meets the lies,
then dies."
All of these are Dio lyrics that resemble what you said, so yeah, you're right
@Sergej Miladinovic "Life's a never ending wheel" - Holy Diver
"Running into nowhere, turning like wheel" - Sacred Heart
James Henri I thought this was about Dio Brando but it still works
But life's not a wheel, with chains made of steel
I steal don't understand if this song is about conan the barbarian or miyamoto musashy
Ronli Rotem ..probably both.. that first Conan movie had alot of eastern influence in it, life being like a wheel of suffering
It's about Musashi
A good war song
This is the best song of this album.
killer album always !
Shinmen Takezō aka Miyamoto Musashi 1584 – June 13, 1645, The greatest swordsman under the sun!
one person diddnt kill his first man at 13
Musashi certainly did. An up himself samurai published a challange to anyone in the town who would take it. He took it, his father tried to get him out of it due to his age and a deal was made but Musashi turned up anyway and won the duel killing the other guy.
SingaporeTrackLizard wow... the joke went completely over you head... kind of like musashis blade wouldn't have..
@SingaporeTrackLizard Wicked! I never read up on Musashi, sounds like I have some homework to do! Wow, and here I thought the song sounded like a Conan-like character....
@Jacobm2002 You kissed your first man at 13
Musashi!
I got the mudbutt.
Up the Irons in Los Angeles!!!
I have to tell you something : the album wasn't "powerslave", but "piece of mind".

I dont know why but i fucking love this maiden song!!!
sven carlson you love this song because maiden is fucking amazing
my favorite maiden song!
Miyamoto Musashi, the man this song talks about, was the greatest japanese swordsman of all time!!!
According to legend, he did, though the legend is likely untrue or exaggeration.
Also the lyric is "make a cut by fire and stones." Cut is the fencing term (Bruce is a fencer) used for a slashing attack... as opposed to a thrust.
@Gloomshadow, the fire and stones cut, is when two swords clash together. It is outlined in the book of five rings written by Miyamoto Musashi. At the age of 13 he was already confident enough to challenge an older samurai named Arima Kibie of the Shinto Ryu. Arima made the mistake of disrespecting Musashi by treating him like a child, which resulted in Musashi throwing him on the floor and beating him with a six foot wooden staff until his opponent died vomiting blood.
I have loved this song since I was 13, but I didn't not catch the Musashi reference till I read your comment.
@Tom13 O'Clock Conan? Lol!!
Hahaha Conan
