Iris DeMent - Prayer Lyrics

Make me feverish, sleepless
And breathless
The years of prostration be long
O Lord, take my child and companion
And destroy the sweet power of song

Thus I pray at each matins
And each vespers
After these many wearying daisy
That the storm cloud which lowers over Russia
May be changed to a nimbus ablaze

Iris Dement has lost none of that great sound, the great voice, the soulful singing, the story telling, the total sincerity. Well over 25 years ago I first heard her, and my first recording of hers that I bought was a tape at a record store. Thanks for bringing me up to date.

Just about as cynical as you can get. Just about as misunderstanding of a spiritual God who answers spiritual prayers, not physical ones. That's what faith and grace are about. He allows us to have eternal life in a state of bliss by our faith in what Khrist did for us on the Kross, and He gives us that gift through grace. Our faith is in what our inner-person knows is there, not what we have seen. If He performs physical miracles and answers physical prayers, there is no more need for faith and no call for His grace. Wake up, Iris!

As you zoom around in your SUV in this life Lily? "Christians" have been running the world a long time now and it's a fucking mess.

Well, Lilly Bloom, I think the others came on a bit hard on you. I love this song, anyway. Not everything is easy to understand when it comes to God and Jesus.   God have mercy on all of us.    If you tuned into Ms Dement, you must have some compassion underneath your rock solid exterior.God bless you!

That's a concept that strikes me as being a little childish - so one needs to ask a question that a child might ask; what on earth is the point of life if the most significant event is death? Grow up up Lilly!
